@joshblok It's the turbo. These cars are equipped with an anit-lag system. So they make all types off crazy sounds.

It kinda bothers me to see many Sti vs Evo reviews and the Sti always gets shafted for not being a better handling car. than I see vids like this and see that subarus can handle any road surface at anytime. I like Evo's but I think Sti's get less credit than they deserve.

- I've seen some rally cars use that kind of compressor housing but not in WRC cars and its honestly not nessessary, the turbos are only good for a few races using that anti-lag system. Keeping the boost pressure inside the massive intercooler is very important for quick boost response. Try shaking a soda can before opening it....it definitly gets the soda out quicker. ;-)

Using an anti-surge compressor inlet, the air pressure is escaping through the venting holes, letting air escape the IC.

- No blow-off valve, no re-direct either. You are hearing the boost pressure trying to escape backwards through the turbo compressor, thus fighting the turbine fins going the other direction, making a chirping noise.

It only sounds like that at high-boost levels, at low boost it sounds like normal compressor surge, a deeper and slower tone.

Not a good setup for a street car lol.

the bug in this is now converted to blob eye spec (S9) and is owned by my friend now :)
