Im enlisting on the 13 too. But guess what I already apply for full time guards unit in saf. The officer in saf laugh when I told him I got police. And the first thing he said to me is this. When im a full time saf officer, the boys un blues are not allowed to handcuff you as we have our mp to deal with you.. I dunt really get what he means but I guess hes trying to say that saf officer is a big shot compare to police. Sorry im just intrested in real jungle training instead of patrolling.

As an NCDCC cadet i have been to HTA many times and seen the police officers hard at training and it does seem like a great way to serve NS

My friend told me his shixiong in his wushu school say that if NS serve in police must serve 5-7 years. Is that true? Then is would be more of a misfortune if we're posted to the police.

I do come back every now and then to HTA for reservist but comparing now and the times i was at Old PA, i guess its only at Old PA that we can see the very fierce and unpredictable trainers at work....super tough but, it was all worth it and super fun too..

@yckss17 I went through all the interviews etc.. I even made it for the final interview at Home Team HQ. Abt a week later, I got a letter that said I didn't get through. My application was unsuccessful.. Damn.. My age could have been a factor :-( Thinking of trying it again though..

This is so much more realistic and practical than being in ARMy. THese are skills that are daily and real life. I wish i was posted to Police!

@y2kjericho86 I serve in SCDF as a instructor. Alot of young male Singaporeans prefer to serve in SCDF and SPF because they get to see real life action.

@fah85 @fah85 I agree with you. In the army, life is so mundane. At least in Civil Defence you can save lives, fight fire and help people who are hurt or ill. In Spf you catch crooks and learn about cyber terrorism and many other real life skills.
