  • Well, it wasn't the most impartial review I've seen:/

  • Comment removed

  • getting a beautifull girl to carry your brolly... so much win !

  • kai has a giant hard on for the M9 and pretty much everything from Leica...

  • @massive0random can you blame him for that ? noooo ;)

  • I wanna get an M9 with the assistant holding an umbrella!! But I have to sell my ford focus first!!!

  • @manoiian man, you'll be out of focus!

  • @Bemap30 LOL..nice one!

  • leica commercial

  • After reading the comments on this video, I can see why the DigitalRev reviews are so full of shit. The comments are all about some lame looking broad and hardly anything about the cameras the same way the reviews are more about lame jokes than the cameras.

  • What do you think of the Fuji XPro-1?

  • I would drag my balls through 70 miles of broken glass just to hear her fart through a walkie-talkie.

  • Omg she is so freaking cute!

  • what a girl

  • i fucking hate how kai is ALWAYS crunching his eyebrows like he's pissed. it's so distracting.

    is he ever happy.

  • Could you guys make a Fuji X-Pro1 vs. Leica M9 video? Also, X-Mount vs the M-mount? Thanks and Kudos from Edmonton!

  • Comment removed

  • hi can anyone help im a young photographer looking to get a new camera with a budget of about 400-500 any advice?

  • @jamesnangle Rebel 3ti? Nikon D3100 or 5100? Sony Alpha A33? (I have an a55 and love it dude =)

  • @jamesnangle Canon rebel t2i

  • what is blurred out 07:50-59, on the Leica m9 lens??

  • I'd be interested to see a comparison of the X-Pro1 Vs. M9. Obviously the M9 is much better, but it is also 5x the price of the forthcoming X-Pro1. But I think it'll be a better comparison than X100 Vs. M9.

  • I don't understand why Kai never showed that x100 has live histogram in optical viewfinder mode, and what's very important, built in nd filter.

With nd filter set on the programable button close to the shuter one, and auto iso whitch allows to select min. and max. iso as well as minimum shutter speed it is really comfortable to use on the streets.

  • I use x100, and ill never even compare it with m9, but af and live histogram (whitch makes use of ev correction dial better because you see if you'll have correct exposure) makes it really easy to make a good picture. M9 is obviously a better camera, and has better optics, but x100 has a few things to it, that choosing between theese two as the only camera to use on street would be a hard thing for me.

  • 6:11 Standing by the harbor having a fag.

    lolwut?

  • @musicfreak1o a cigarette

  • Fujifilm looks like a Leica copy.

  • So what is the point in buying this camera?

  • I think Kai will get married with the girl in the end.

  • i just can not wait for the fuji xpro1 to be on the shops. and for a review from you guys.. but i think is just too expensive... even in the uk will be really really expensive, about 1400 pounds body only. sad... more than 500 for the lenses... each of course....

  • Make a video about the best camera you can use for traveling! Is it a compact or a DSLR?

  • @iRobii a micro 4/3 ... middle of both

  • Who else is excited about the Fujifilm X-Pro 1?

  • @iRobii Me... I can't decide whether to just get the X100 or wait for the X-Pro1... In some ways I like the look of the X100 better than the slightly less retro, slightly more stylised look of the X-Pro1. But I'd prefer the F1.4 50mm equiv. lens I'd get with the X-Pro1. I also prefer the rolly thumb wheel of the X-Pro1 than the out-of-place-looking toggle thumb switch on the X100. On the other hand the X100 is cheaper, and is already locally available...

  • A very informative yet fun Review!!! We want more! :)

  • He's an engaging presenter but seems to have a responsive rather than analytical approach to considering light and composition. I really didn't see either of those cameras producing images which would make me want to buy them.

  • Whats up Kai?

Ei Make a Review of the Fujifilm X-Pro1

  • Is it still warm even though it rains?

  • x100 vs x1!!

  • Can't wait till you review the Fuji x pro 1! If the sensor is anything like as good as it seems your going to have to change your mind about nothing being as good as a Leica!

  • I love my X100!!

If you like black and white photography check out this e-mag. Go to google and search Adore Noir.

    Cheers!

  • 7:41 canon 5dII with nikon strap, unconventional, aren't you

  • Do a review of Fuji X100 vs. Leica X1 please!

  • is this a leica commercial?

  • Why don't people wear real water proof coats?

  • Compare the Fuji X-Pro1 to the M9 after it comes out :D

  • I just looked up the price for the leica m9... for that money it BETTER come with an assistant AND a model.... FFS. Who can afford a € 5000-6000 camera ?! And why would you want that instead of a canon 1d mark iv with an awesome L lens?

  • Is Alamby single? she is really lovely girl..

  • Wow, this is absolutely the best review show I've seen on YouTube. The narration is excellent, the production and editing are both superb.

  • If an m9 comes with an alamby..... I may need to buy one

  • umm?Alamby got a M9?

    if no...nothing

if yes...Alamby,could you give your m9 to me ?XP

  • ohh i miss hong kong

  • Ok, I'll buy the M9 and an IKEA umbrella for the assistant if she comes with the purchase (and if it is that specific assistant and not some old knock-off :D)

Or she could get her own X1 pro if she decided to assist me for life.

    So, what do she say?

  • From a Strobist point of view, and as a lover of 35mm lenses, I got to say: The Fuji X100 is the better camera. The sync speed is amazing, and only rivalled by PhaseOne and Hasselblad. Awesome! Tried one today. Will buy one soon.

  • leica M9 is somewhat spiritual, a $8000 somewhat spiritual :)

  • at ~8000$ for body only... i wouldnt say that the X100 is a "poor man's" leica rather than the M9 is a "rich man's" compact slr.

  • 8:31 if he is there recording u, .....are u recording him with ur eye!!? WHO THE HELL IS RECORDING THROUGH THE VIEW FINDER!!!!? LMAO

  • really the only ones I have heard likening this to a Leica are reviewers like yourself.

    cheers

  • Good voice work. You sound like Jeremy Clarkson.

  • anyone have any idea what camera bag lok uses? pretty sure its not a billingham

  • BORRKEEK

  • 0:47 Is it really right to Leica-n this to a Leica M9?

  • Chase Jarvis uses the Fujifilm X100!

  • @GizmoBitz He also uses an M9 though...

  • Keeping in view the price & camera league irrespective of Mega Pixel fair comparison was between Canon 5D Mark II & Nikon high end cameras with leica.

  • Kai reviewed is good upto some extent, but i felt it pretty unfair to compair a higher league camera with normal one. It would be more better if you guys compare camera's picture quality with price i mean of what price you guys are getting these pics & what is the difference in picture quality ? because picture quality is keep purpose for which a camera is made for.

Fuji X100 is of US$ 1200/- with lens while Leica M9 price is US$ 7000/- body only. Is there any comparison ?

  • @1900Bunty I'm sorry, but that'd be pretty boring and also pretty pointless. These hands-on reviews are FAR more useful to people who are actually interested in photography, rather than cameras, than purely technical reviews.

@Rotten3ullet Kai speaks british english, and for brits cigarettes are also known as fags.

@matteoprez If you know what to do in ACR or Lightroom, then that is incorrect.

  • standing by the harbor having a FAG. lol...

  • What a useless review, if you can even call it that!

  • Comment removed

  • @jasonsa The internet is flooded with reviews like that and they are mostly useless. Sharpness doesn't matter so much if the camera sucks to use and doesn't fit your shooting style.

Imagine if a new camera came out with a huge super high resolution sensor that could get a 1/1000 shutter speed in pitch black without noise, but they hid the manual controls under layers and layers of menus. That may be fine for some, but would suck for a manual shooter like me.

    Handling is important in cameras.

  • @jasonsa Theres a million and one reviews like that on the net buddy, go find one.

This is the Top Gear of the camera world. You're in the wrong place.

  • Watching these good reviews always confirm one thing I noticed from the very start, with the introduction of digital. No matter what digital body you have, its black & white will always be flat, uninspiring, boring.

  • @matteoprez I can't say I've ever found this with any of my Panasonic Lumix Cameras. But I think b&w is and art and a lot depends on what you do in image editing software afterwards :)

  • @artberry Yes and no. IMHO, the biggest problem that comes with digital photography is the re-touching in post whoch you almost always have to ever. When it comes to film, especially when using b/w, you don't have to. At least, I never did.

  • @matteoprez Well having recently bought a film scanner it's shocking how much dust one finds on film. I suppose a lot of this dust would be too small to show up too much in prints but you can certainly see it on high resolution scans. OTOH dust isn't usually a problem with digital images. I suppose this would explain why Photoshop was invented before the digital Cameras we widely used and was mainly developed to retouch digital scans of photos originally taken on film. :)

  • @artberry Well, the dust is not and won't be a problem if you properly take it off before the scanning :) But it is one tidy problem, that is true. Fact is, I use both digital and analog cameras; they have their pros and their cons. As a professional photographer, mainly because of the digital revolution, I've also had to learn to professionally use Photoshop. Problem is, digital post-pro work can get almost all my time. And I just prefer shooting.

  • @matteoprez Well the bulk of my film photography dates from the 70s and 80s. So dust is probably largely due to their age. It surprises me though you see film as being more strait forward. Darkroom processing and printing was quite labour intensive and required specialist skills. Digital photography OTOH is a comparatively simple process with near instant results. So being able to spend more time shooting seems a major advantage of digital photography :)

  • 6:52 fantastic shot

  • @TheMiszerak

    i think so too... :)

  • If i Buy M9 ..Do i get a free chinese girl ?

  • @sparrrowhawk Well if you bought a Lumix model you could probably afford a whole army with the money saved lol

  • Poor fuji never had a chance Unfair comparison

  • comparing it to the leica x1 would be more of a fair comparison than the leica m9...

  • Ironically, the shots you get with the X100 are much better in terms of composition than what you get with the M9.

  • @ccsantony yeah, the camera makes your composition skills better ... -_-

  • @sadesh13 All rangefinders are mirrorless.

  • The problem with this review is the fact that they are comparing two cameras so far apart in price that the Leica has won from the beginning. It's like making a video that compares the Canon eos 550d with the Nikon D3S. It's not really fair.

  • You should be fair, and compare the x100 to the x1!

  • You can buy a old leica film camera, lens, film scanner and film for the price of the X100.

  • you´re the the rain maker :P

  • is the fujiflimx100 a rangefinder camera or mirrorless

  • @sadesh13 it doesn't have a mirror but you don't call it a mirrorless as in mirrorless system camera, it's a high-end compact.

  • @NDSCollector ohh ok thanks

  • As you state in the video, they are not the same thing. Compare the X100 to the X1 please.

  • Why does it always rain in your reviews? :-)

  • You should be comparing it to the Leica X1, they have similar sensors, price, and capability :P

  • Comment removed

  • 还要在这种天气里工作。真是辛苦你们了

  • I actually sold my x100, because of the soft lens, sluggish AF and poor lowlight focus capabilities. It looks like a rangefinder camera but it isn't. Manually its simply impossible to fast focus. Next train I'm on will be the Fujifilm LX series.

  • how about a x100 vs x1 from leica?

  • man this guy is awful with the ladies isn't he

  • X100 or M9 ? I choose X100 because I cannot afford Leica M ~ So damn expensive !! Give me a chill just by seeing the price of Leica M .

  • It's really expensive..........

  • The X100 lens is tack sharp - what are you talking about? The sensor is also a lot better in low light than any M9.

  • The Leica sensor would NOT eat the X100 sensor for breakfast, Yes, for resolution maybe, but not when it comes to natural colours or dynamic range. Please read up before you make stupid statements.

  • @HogbergPhotography ... He was talking about the physical size of the sensor.. Which the M9's would indeed eat the X100's sensor for breakfast. Please keep up before you make stupid comments.

  • having a fag? lol, so british~

  • omg i know that random follower = =

  • Contax would be the co. to do a poor man's version of M9 not Fuji. G1 and G2 were decent approximations of M3 quality especially as far as image quality. I got unbelievable results w/G1 and associated Zeiss lenses that were every bit as good as Leica lenses could do under the right conditions. G1 was challenging to focus at times when objects weren't stationary. Also,Leica lenses of course would last longer as would the bodies. Contax made a good poor man's M3.

  • I would buy the M9 if it really come with an assistent like alamby

  • @xKaYuRix i'd buy one if it didn't cost an arm and a leg

  • Lol "It's like wearing 2 condoms"

  • Its like BMW... "M"...

  • @8375705 It's like comparing a Skoda och VW to a Merc or BMW. Both are cars.

  • Him trying to put on that raincoat was like trying to put on a condom on a limp dick.

  • Or the fujix100

  • Can I get some advice please, I can't make up my mind about to buy Leica x1 or fuji

  • If you are thinking about buying this camera, do not buy it. There is a common 'sticky blades' problem that many x100 will eventually get due to the design of the lens in the x100. So far to date, Fujifilm has not even publicly acknowledged this problem. Shocking for a $1000+ premium camera. You can read about all the x100 owners complaining about it on the Fujifilm Talk forum on DPreview. Until Fujifilm acknowledges this issue, stay away from the x100!!

  • This is the first time I see Kai with a camera strap around his wrist (on the Leica) ... Thumbs up if you also noticed this :)

  • Comment removed

  • did i juat heard "oh blimey" so British

  • Great vid. I have the Fuji x100 and love it! If you are reading this and enjoy B&W photography google "Adore Noir magazine" email me through the site and I will give you a link to download a free issue to check out. Cheers!

  • What i love about these reviews are they are done by 3 lovely people!....its always refreshing to see two down to earth guys with Kai at the helm and Loc doing all the tech stuff and videoing...and such a beautiful woman is the sweet and ever smiling lovely feminine alamby!....these guys deserve success and recognition...they are a great team!..i love these reviews just for the professionalism and entertainment...makes a change from all the other BORE-O-THON review channels!

  • THIS IS SHIT LOL!..raincoats are for old grannies anyway you need one of those head mounted umbrellas!

  • Very few vs go out all weather. Props to you guys.

  • Compare first the X100 to the leica X1 . . . Then you'll choose X1. ;) other considerations are compromises and 'value for money' in an unobjective world if you consider spend time with an item.

  • Kai has the best job in the world...

  • well, its obvious that Kai is trying to response those people who keep using a x100 to compare the m9 by saying how expensive of a m9 is and blah blah blah. Since lots of people do not understand the quality of Leica, also being jealous of the users and spamming on the internet most of the time.

  • That's cool

  • I find your reviews useful, but this one left me quite confuse, I understand the message Fujifilm X100 as an alternative to M9. Please take a note, a Captured image is everything we want from a camera, anything else in the camera is just a welcome supplement, I make a gift to the imagination there are some individuals who have more creative intentions, professional even. Question: is x100 good enough to capture a great image without having to read or understand all the science involved.

  • Comment removed

  • 0:57 you gotta be a silly bugger to be in Hong Kong without an umbrella in July when it is one of the worst time of the year for weather

  • Great video! I was going to buy a G12 to compliment my 60D but I am going to save to get the M9 and forget about G12...

  • @AlvaroVonKunstler A G12 is an outstanding compagnion for a reflex.

A Leica is more than that, it is a whole other dimension. And a tenfold pricetag.

  • @AlvaroVonKunstler eeeeh

the leica m9 costs 5 times the price of a 60d and its made to be youre full time use camera ... g12 is made for the enthustiast who want a backup to there dslr's for when a dslr would be to heavy and obtrusive ....

if i was you i would get the x100 ..just personal opinion ..it packs a sensor the same size as the 60d ..but whit a fixed fast f2 prime lens ....you also may wana check out the olympus e-p3 for about the same price as x100 you can get e-p3 and panasonic 20mm

  • i thought 7d have weather sealing ? why bother to use umbrella?

  • @wertuiking well to keep them self dry ..DUH

  • are you serious. what the hell. Man fuji X100 vs M9, its like comparing Ferrari with Camary or Nissan. get a life dude. stop confusing guys. Fuji is class of X1 dude. i just took pix and compared both. to be honest Fuji results were miles better then Leica X1. whats next. comparing Hasselblad 50mp with Canon G11. helloooooo wake up. see the camera class you are comparing it. you just said it in your review that its a fix lens. hellooo X1 is a fixed lens.

  • @HAMADPRODUCTION You suddenly mean a Camaro.

  • Just how much has the value of Leica M9 dropped since the M9 P came out ?

    LOTS & LOTS & LOTS & LOTS & LOTS & LOTS & LOTS & LOTS & LOTS & LOTS

At least enough to buy at least two Fuji X100 !

PS - was at Calumet last week - Fuji rep could hardly hold himself back - the X200 (or X1000) with interchangeable lenses - fast primes etc will be out early next year

    Can't wait!

  • hahahahahahahah!

  • Oh, please. Can we can the Leica worship. It's an overpriced status symbol. Lots of cameras equal the quality at a fraction of the price.

  • enjoy you guys' videos

  • i sense a little bias for Leica in all these videos... -.-'

  • @NicolaRivarossa hard not to be.

  • @NicolaRivarossa wich is more expensive :S

  • @NicolaRivarossa Because the Leica is better LOL. What do you expect? He's comparing a camera to another one that's like 7 times its price. You expect him to gush about how the cheaper one is better?

  • NOM NOM NOM NOM!!!!

  • gosh this review is nonsense...

  • Apples and oranges, $7k vs $2k. No the X100 is not an M9. Yet I'll bet that 99% of the shots he gets with the X100 would equal the M9. This to me is clearly a case of CAS, camera aquisition syndrome. Gotta have the M9! Or someone with way too much money and way too much time on their hands. Still like his vids though.

  • Thats cool

  • Very informative

  • Why didn't he just wait for better weather??

  • Sorry guys this is the MOST UNFAIR TEST you've ever done. The M9 is 5x the price and has interchangeable lenses. I'd wait until FUJI bring out the X200 (or whatever they'll call it) with even better performance and pro level interchangeable lenses, even that will be cheap compared to a Lecia. Of course this won't stop Lecia fans from buying - then again they NEVER UNBOX their cameras let alone use them in the rain. Have fun.

  • @mikeismad61

Unfair? It's not really a competition, fanboy... He's just comparing the feeling of the cameras for most of the review, the X100 tries to mimic the M series in terms of feel after all.

  • Lol !! u guys are hilarious :D

  • Comment removed

  • A beautiful japanese camera deserving of its continued success, and professional results and sales confirm this

  • Today, I learned "fag" means cigarette in England.

  • Leica M9 is almost 5 five times more expensive then x100, Leica have in their offer different cameras (i think "x" series?)that cost around 1500 euro/usd, but anyway is impressive for fuji x100 that people comparing it to more expensive cameras:)

  • You aren´t fair: you must use the two at the same situations. And don´t forget that the x100 is not a rangefinder but a great point and shoot.

  • the x100 is not a range finder

  • In terms of higher ISOs, the X100 eats the M9 for breakfast.
