Why is it that in 2000, before James went to rehab, you could hear the distortion in their guitars. Everything had a deep sound, Lars' drums sounded like drums and not so artificial. I mean, just listen to Creeping Death from '00 and then from '03 - '04. Just a huge difference, I don't know why, did the roadcrew forgot how to tune guitars?

I agree completely. It's by no means my favourite Metallica album but I do share your sentiments about St Anger being severely underrated. People seem to hate it partly because of Lars' drums (particularly the snare) being off throughout the album, but honestly, it's not grounds to call the album bad. I think it may have been the excessive aggression coupled with the horrible production that put people off, but it had potential, and most of it is shown in the final product, in my opinion.

OMG!!! Finally someone who knows something about music!!! St. Anger was a great album!!! I have always said that if that album had put out by just about any other group rather than Metallica it would have been all the rave!! If it was some new band's debut album Rolling Stone Magazine would have been talking about "the fresh new sound of metal!"
