@kauthaku23456 This IS my chair. When I was 15 I got Guillian-Barre Syndrome. It took me 2 1/2 years to relearn how to walk. I use my chair here b/c I have a severe form of dysautonomia. About two years ago I found out my GBS was chronic and my paralysis came back again even worse this time. Yes I am paralyzed badly now and use THIS chair and am waiting on one that will better fit my needs. I'll post a vid abt it when it comes in.
@AmazingGrace160 I am so sorry I am feeling very sad that I did not know about this GBS. I am paralys too spinal injury since 2006 december , I am using folding wc but too is bulky. I am here in Mumbai, India. If you do not mind I want to make friendship with you
@kauthaku23456 you don't have to be completely paralyzed to use a wheelchair. There is what is called "incomplete paraplegia or quadraplegia" where you have some ability to walk or move. I have had a chair since 2004 when I got Transverse Myelitis, took me 2 years to walk, like Nina, but I still have paralysis of my left leg, use a cane and a KAFO to walk. I use the chair when I am tired, or go to the mall..
@AmazingGrace160 I love this video. I watch it at least once a week, it puts a big smile on my face. That cat is hilarious, he's so funny and so cute. I showed this video to my brother whose a vetenarian. He knows of the behavior of cats and said this is typical of a cat screaming for attention from his master. Hope you're feeling better. I'm hanging in there and hope you do too.
That looks very similar to the one I have now, except mine has a higher back. Extremely lightweight and the wheels come off and back folds down. Much much easier to push than the one I had before. Wheelies are the coolest!! And also come in handy for going up curbs!
Thats so cool that your excited about having your chair. I was born w/Spina Bifada and when i was a kid they only had old clunky E&Js but i got my first quickie back in 1990 and it was a red used quickie and i kept it for atleast 10 yrs now i have a newer TiLite TR its totally rules over any other chair out there....keep going strong !
Nice wheelchair! I've got a Quickie Helium which is very light, but really heavy with the Yamaha powered wheel system that I've got. I've been a part time wheelchair user since 2007 as I have M.E. Our kitty Beatrice also loves to sleep in my wheelchair! I put a towel over it so my cushion doesn't get covered in her grey fur lol! You have great wheelchair skills. I can do wheelies to get up curbs etc. but not sustain them.
Eck :x The issues with how much they can cost is a bit of insanity :s
Prime example - I dont know the specifics of what they're called, but I -think- theyre power wheels? They have motors in them to help with manual chairs..Essentially glide on their own, to cause less stress on your arms.
But theyre expensive! They're like .. 7 grand :/ Its crazy :x
nice chair. i have one too, except it's a bit newer (Q7) as i have spinocerebellar ataxia 3 (SCA3) are those pneumatic tires? bec ause i noticed u move around quite easily. my tires r mako kik and they suck. its just plastic! no air! lol
haha love your wheeley! I dont have a wheelchair but school has sports wheelchairs for disabled ppl so they can do pe but i went in one, i tried your trick and i managed to keep the wheeley for about 3mins which is quite good for someone who has never done one. I want to know what part of ur body is paralized? I wish i was in a wheelchair so bad as they are awsome!
@unknownstudd69 This chair is nearly 6 yrs old. At the onset of my paralysis I was told I would never walk again. Also at the time I had lost 80% function in my left arm and was having some major problems with pressure sores and other things. I hope this answers your question, if it doesnt feel free to ask more :)
I'm so happy to have viewed this video of yours. I didn't realize that you can actually stand up. The last video I saw of yours showed you bedridden and unable to swallow or digest food. I too have an autoimmuned disorder but well I can function quite well. You're truly an inspiration and great source of encouragement. Good luck.
@hotathlete2 Thanks for replying :D Im actually fully paralyzed from below the chest down again. I had gained my swallowing ability back for a few weeks but it is gone now along with my taste and sense of smell Im still living on my feeding tube 24/7 :( But I WILL NOT let this get me down. I refuse to! Sorry to leave such a downer reply...
@AmazingGrace160 Thank you Kristina for the reply. Good for you, don't let anything get you down. All is possible with God. I had placed a prayer petition for you at Lourdes(a place in southern france where people with advanced illnesses have been cured). I put a petition in for myself and I believe that's what led to much of my miraculous recovery from my autoimmuned disorder. You don't have to be Catholic, just believe in and love God. The petition can be done on the internet as well :)
Ur amzing gurl have a big heart ur cat so cute...hehe thank for sharing the video glad ur doing well sweet heart i saw ur other videos ur awsome helping otherz understand what ur going throu hun always pray for you :)
@MandyBooVLDarkMoon Thanks so much for praying for me :D! I can use it today actually, I was up all night sick and never fell asleep. :/ And my cat is really sick we think he has pneumonia so I have to take him to the vet,,his name is Aiden.
@wheelieblind This quickie is actually really old I have had it sense I became paralyzed in my early teens. Im surprised i havent outgrown it a lot. But I have out grown it and its giving me pressure sores now that Im fully paralyzed again so today Im going to be measured for a new wheel chair. Im actually going to try and get a TiLite custom fit but if my insurance cant im ok with it. Your right the quickies are really good this one help up for a long time.
Your right keep the faith and make the best of what God has blessed you with and realize everyday you have 100% of your life left because no one knows when your time is up. I was paralized at age 21 and just turned 59 residual damage but like you got to do what you gotta do. Live passion. I rehabilitated myself swimming and was soon walking and running about 90% recovery.
You have a very cool wheelchair. I have a very old wheelchair and trying to get a new one is very difficult, my wheelchair is about 7 years old so its missing a lot of stuff. Sometimes the wheels don't roll, etc. Can you help me with the process on how to get one? I know they are super expensive, I just got insurance and I've been trying to tell them that I need a new one but the process is taking forever.
By the way, I use a wheelchair because I have spinal cord injury.
@haditadlimon Hi, You have your Dr write a prescription for one then you would have your PT or OT evaluate you for a new one. After that you have them call your insurance and YOU call your insurance and tell them you have met the criteria for a new chair. :) Hope this helps.
@AmazingGrace160 I just did it, the process took a couple of weeks. The company sent me a wheelchair today but it is a huge one. I told me I need a very small one since I'm "fun-size" :) and the one the sent me it is very uncomfortable :( what company sent you your wheelchair? and Does the insurance covered it all?

Hi, nice meeting you. I'm 37 from Italy and in 2002 was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I've to say you're a very inspirational girl and I'm so sorry about all things happened to you, I wish you all the best. I'd like to talk with you sometimes, if you've a profile in Facebook, we'd talk. Hugs. Enzo.
@grifoit Im sorry, I actually only share my facebook with family that live far from me. But you can message me here on youtube :) So sorry you have MS I have a very close friend with it and have seen what a hard time she has with it.
I have spastic paraparesis, which is an upper motor neuron disorder caused by a defect during development. It is progressive and will eventually leave me unable to walk at all. Even though I can use forearm crutches indoors, I still have to use a wheelchair out of my apartment because my legs give out constantly and I fall. Just because someone doesn't look disabled doesn't mean they are faking anything or are lazy. Wheelchairs are not just for SCI people.
Cool wheelchair! What exact Quickie model is it? I have two Quickie chairs: a Quickie GP and a Quickie Revolution. I have trouble walking without my legs giving out due to spastic paraparesis. I use my wheelchair whenever I leave my apartment, which is everyday. Man, I wish I could hold a wheelie as long as you! I can only hold one for about 1 minute.
BTW: ignore allencrutches comment. Just because a disability doesn't show on the outside doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
allencrutches - the wheelchair is wonderful invention for those in need of moving about without the faculties to do so.
One not need to be paralyzed to benefit from the wheelchair.
