Although they sound good, this song was played entirely too fast. If they went a little bit slower and played the song more conservatively to gave each note attention instead of slopping some of the runs together like they don't matter, the piece would sound fantastic. I'm not saying they don't sound good - they're just playing this at a tempo out of their league.
WOW! This is definitely one of the best high school orchestras I've ever heard.
The performance, as organized and note-perfect it may have been, was quite dull. From what I see, this seems to be partially the fault of the conductor, who seemed to be quite dull.
However, other than that one very picky subjective interpretational thing, this is a most marvelous performance! Bravo! 5 stars.
here we have a fine example of how an excellent orchestral composer was Hindemith, being a progressist musician during his younger years, he then moved on to neoclassicism being his model mainly Bach,

great job!!! your info is wrong though. the Lassiter High School Symphonic I band played this whole piece at festival last year. they performed the transposed version for band only which is much more difficult. congrats on the superior ratings!
Oh, hey, I'm playing the viola part for this tonight! Anyways, you guys sound great for being in a high school orchestra. The balance was just a little off, but it's certainly an excellent performance. :D
WOW. I was so happy to find this video. I played the Hindemuth with a high-school age group when I was 16 and to this day it's the hardest thing I've ever played. (The 1st violin part) Nice video.

@drumminchick87 indeed but the piece is noted for it to be performed faster than the ensemble performing.

I have an old Ormandy vinyl recording and I think the tempo here is noticeably quicker. Amazing young ensemble, these kids..

Really, really good, satisfying performance, perfect tempo. Very impressive for a high school orchestra, particularly.
