Yep, you're right, it's a Ford! As the front end appears to be short it must be a MK2 Consul (originally straight-4 equipped), otherwise it's a MK2 Zephyr or Zodiac, which both were standard straight sixes and had longer front end, otherwise body is similar!

those last cars must have been normal everyday cars in the early 80s..like having an 89 model now.
