  • who clicked on this expecting to see a full tank of propane explode?

  • thumbs up if you thought he meant a FULL propane tank >:[

  • Dangit Bobby! I'll tell you hwhat, y'all better stop shootin' my propane!

  • moral:when going to war,take a propane tank,not a 22 rifle/pistol.Maybe you can even get hank hill to come.

  • man. those must be 22 short if they cant shoot through propane tanks. They could easily do it at least one side if they are 22 long rifles

  • To see the mythbusters guys set off 1,000 pounds of thermite to try to cut a car in half, see my video:

    Incendiary Experiments

  • propane tank 1

    .22 LR 0

  • Sweet camera bud to capture the footage.

  • why would someone shoot that with bird shot

  • why would someone spray that with bird shot

  • 22 T-rex Killer super magnum awesome death bullet... lol

it was a fair hit. Not quite sure what your adoring audience was expecting out of a previously perforated propane tank...

Just goes to show that not everything happens the way you expect it. Thank you for this video.

  • dang it bobby!! said hank hill

  • not gonna lie, I expected to see a giant wall of fire to just burst from that thing.

  • ...Did the propane tank just win?

  • you should try again with a filled tank. . . i bet you would have a totally different result

  • use rifle bolt action and on 10m you will penetrate. i dont have semi auto .22, but it would be nice if someone make test with bolt action and semi auto rifle...

  • to get it to go through a tank of that size you have to use a high power rifle or shoot it in the exact same spot many times

  • he said 22lr, lr means long rifle, but he was prolly just using rimfie, hypervelocity 22lr would easily put a hole in that.

  • lol Hadley's box. you must be from the lower CA desert

  • one time i did this with a small full propane tank but it went through it and all the gas rushed out and froze the ground in a 10 foot radius

  • I don't condone that behavior towards propane and propane accessories, god dangit!

  • Duds

  • Atleast I know what body armor to wear in my next tour in Afghanistan haha... Propane steel wrapped around my body parts.

  • Looks like whatever was in that yellow box 80% of Americans should be eating.

  • Iv done that before but with a half full blow torch propane tank. Tank went flying though the air.

  • was this shot out of a pistol or a rifle, if possible what ammo?

  • @s3import

I should remember the firearm but I am not sure, I took out several that day. May of been a Ruger .22 revolver with a 5 1/2" barrel. Not sure, sorry.

  • probably some shitty ammo

  • @s3import um no offence but unless you have eye problems you would probably read the title

  • @blizzard249 which says .22 bullet vs Propane tank. He didnt want to know the calliber he wanted to know if it was shot out of a pistol of a rifle and what sort of ammunition he was using NOT CALLIBER. Dont try and get smart taking the piss out of people unless you have a good enough reason! idiot!

  • @s3import he said 22lr, lr means long rifle, but he was prolly just using rimfie, hypervelocity 22lr would easily put a hole in that.

  • Hahahah, Hank Hill would whoop your ass I tell you whut

  • I pretty much figured that was gonna happen. Same thing happened with a tin coffee container, but I was using .22 short subsonic's at about 40 yards; the .22 short subsonic round is like a glorified BB gun cartridge, and only half the power of the .22LR. So I'm sure you can imagine lol.

  • Ah I get the bad pun... oooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. lol

  • Where's the explosion?

  • This is an extremely interesting experiment. I'd always wondered about the penetration power of a 22 round. And real nice "slow mo" filming. Was this LR or 22 short, long? Anyhow, I always talk up the versatility of the .22, so in a way it's sad to see it not penetrate. But good to have the knowledge, so thank you kindly!

  • what you do is get a road flair and stick it in the ground right next to a full tank and get about 100yards back shoot it and admire the beauty... but you gotta use somthing bigger like a 270 or 300

  • what you do is get a road flair and stick it in the ground right next to a full tank and get about 100yards back shoot it and admire the beauty

  • i think the tank won

  • is 22 rifle extremely weak?

  • 22 bounces off propane tank... duh! * check out my video.. "spit ball does not go through human face"

  • not wat i was hopein to see

  • to make this more fun, get a brand new porpane tank, tape a flaming stick to it and shoot it it explodes! but be cafeful and stay back i got his with shrapnel from the tank in the stomach

  • owned

  • you just disrespected hank hill~

  • Bang!.......... FAIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!

  • does the .22 usually goes through the first side of the propane tank

  • well as you all know 22. are no that power full....hmmm...i wonder what a 38 flat whould do. what kinda hole it whould make

  • @dosuloveshinata a medium hole going in, and most likely won't come back out.

  • @dosuloveshinata prolly not much at all imo. would look very simalure to the .22 just a bigger ding .

  • alls a .22 is, is a high powered pellet gun. pretty much

  • should have used a cci mini mag.. would have gone right through..

  • yeah it was probably far away and its a LR so its possible

  • Must have been a crappy bullet, or a low velocity one. I bet if you used high-preformance rounds they would penetrate, or at least do mroe than dent it.

  • startin a fire redneck style

  • send a velocitor at it it will go straight through it

  • this vid just tells you " Don't underestimate the 22 bullet "

  • my 22 goes right through and out the other side of a propane tank;

  • .22LR is a great round. If you want to shoot through propane tanks then buy a center fire rifle. Try a .204 if you want to stay small and fast. I bet it would punch through the tank. Otherwise a .22LR and even a .22 Magnum are great for everyday use.

  • bet a 22lr cci mini mag would have shot through it.

  • @skittlekiller

no it wont lol. my friend was using his cci's and it wouldnt go thru. just left dings on the outside. had to break out the 12 ga 000 bk

  • I just accidentally my .22!!! What should i do??

  • try that again with a solid point bullet/ full metal jacket .22lr. youd be surprised.

  • paste this to 2 other videos

go to your channel and see your comments

    JUST DO IT IT SCARY!!!

  • It might be different if the bottle was full of propane it would have extra stress on the bottle.

  • certainly would have...pressure changes everything

  • its a 22, what are you gonna do, exactly 30-'06

  • I done this before; 22 lr is to weak to penetrate propame tank

  • that would have felt good if it hit you in your face.

  • I was at least 50 yards away. The biggest hazard was to the camera lens.

  • @rx2tee a 22. LR round has about 20 to 50 grain, target load for a 9mm is 100 hollow point 9mm is 150, pig hunting is 200 and bear hunting is like 200 - 300... .22 cal is the pussy of the ammo world, oh and 50 cal is like 500 grain

  • @rx2tee So 50 yards is enough? You must be an idiot. Have a look at this if you think 50 yards is far enough to not be in danger:

    watch?v=lIflgh3qMSs&feature=BFa&list=FLcJsp-shMULY&index=8

  • @shankman2000 A ricochet probably wouldn't do much damage; It's only a .22LR.

  • @jmk0309 A .22LR can kill someone from 1.5 miles away if you point the rifle in the air. It even says that on all boxes of .22LR ammo. Don't say a .22 is weak cause I'm very sure no one wants to get hit by it.

  • idk y people severly estimate the power of a .22, okay so it cant go threw a metal propaine tank but people and animals arent made of metal and inside 50yds its deadly its all about shot placment if you land a head shot or centermass shot w/e your shooting at is dead, remeber in d.c. a few years back with the sniper incident... the father son team killing people from there car trunk that rifle they used was a .22lr bolt action

  • You're lucky Hank Hill didn't see you do this.

  • lmao you made me laugh hard

  • LOL good one.

this shows just how weak a .22 really is.

  • if you wew to get shot with a .22 at normal pistol ranges, then you wouldn't be calling it weak.. I use many .22 rim-fires and if youy can aim the a .22 will do just as gfood as any other caliber at dropping the attacker. Also The guy didn't say if he used normal viscosity .22lr rounds, or high viscoticty .22lr's, what about .22 Hyper viscosity (mini-mags) and .22 mags. I hate it when people call a .22 "Not a real caliber"

  • Don't want to derail your comment, but you mean "velocity"... "viscosity" is how easy or difficult a fluid can be poured... lol.

  • Sorry for commenting on something so old, but the word should be Velocity. Viscocity has to do with how thick something is... like molasses or syrup.

  • haha retard u mean velocity? viscosity is the resistance to flow of a liquid. i love it when dum asses try to sound inteligent and that they know something about what theyr talking about

  • Viscosity or velocity?

  • It's not normally a 'one-shot man stopper' kind of caliber. That's what most people mean I'm sure. Heck, I feel vulnerable carrying a .380. In a real situation, I'd much prefer to have my .40S&W rounds.

  • .22 isn't a real caliber.

  • viscosity is the force needed to move a liquid, maple syrup have more viscosity then water. VELOCITY is the speed at which a projectile travels.

  • velocity not viscosity

  • @Nwest82 you mean velocity?

  • @Nwest82 Viscosity... you mean Velocity

Viscosity is the measure of resistance of fluid

  • it may not penetrate 20 gauge steel but it can rip through your gut and tear apart your aorta in a hurry.

  • AMEN!!

  • hahahahahaha

    propane accessories!

  • @kvmairforce lmao

  • @kvmairforce

    lmao

  • .22s are great fun guns!!!! I have more .22s than any other caliber. Keep shootin while we still can!

  • and ammos cheap!

  • buh kk

  • geoatv, Don't you worry, They will never take our guns away from us! Too many people own them. Statisticly 90% of americans own guns. There would be an outrage and civil war if they tried taking them!!!

To all gun owners, Write your letters to Obama and support the big guys like NRA. Be heard and don't let your voice quiet for a second!

  • 90 percent ha ha ha!!! Where the hell are you from moron, did you pull that number out of your hat or ass? The actual percentage fluctuates between 39-47 percent. Its retard gun owners like you who make us look like stupid redneck hillbillies.

  • I'm pretty sure its more like 38%, don't you think 90 percent is very unreasonable. considering criminals, minors, religious beliefs, personality, ect. (no disrespect)

  • nopt to mention cheaper anmo.

  • i want my 15 seconds back

  • Too bad.

  • .50 and .357 FTW!

  • a .22lr can go through a can of soda and a 1" piece of wood.

  • try that with aguila supermaximums they are way more power

  • aguila hypermax, 1700fps of .22LR goodness!

  • anticlimax

  • It bounced off because you hit a round object. Round objects usually deflect rounds. However, a .22 X- caliber round will go through it if you hit it dead center. THe best place to hit a propane tank is on the valve. Sparks will ignite the gases in the canister.

  • you probably dont know anything, probably watch to many movies and believe them. normal bullets do not make sparks, they are made out of lead. lead is a soft metal. no sparks. no ignition.

  • im sorry where did the bullet bounce off the tank?

  • try shooting a stinger...maybe it'll make a little diff?

  • .22 are really weak guns, but they go far cuz theyre so light

  • hahah we live right by hadleys store is there more than one

  • HOLY SHIT who knew that would happen!

  • .22=weak no offense i just dont like them

  • agree, but the bullets are cheap, and its good enough for fun shooting and bird hunting.

    222 is way better then,with a speed at 980 m/s.

  • You must be very well-off; I don't believe most people can afford to practice with anything else--unless you don't target-shoot at all, in which case I am puzzled at your presence here for surely anyone with an interest in firearms who cannot afford to fire more expensive rounds would be willing to shoot .22 rounds.

  • The child doesn't know what a .22 is. This is the answer to your puzzle.

  • i practice with both my mini 14 and 597. .223 bullets are expensive now.its costs me 60$ for 100 bullets=45 minutes at the indoor range.boo

  • hes just a .45 fan... dont bother with those idiots :)

    .22 ftw

  • ok then, a .22 v. a .45, see who gets killed.

  • It depends on the ammunition, because at 150ft, I was punching through a 1975 VW Hippy van with .22LR Blazer and Stingers out of my AR7 and my 10/22.. and at 20ft with 42GR Aguila I was punching through a 3/4ft birch tree.. a skull is 1/4in thick for most people, I am pretty sure it would easily penitrate depending on the angle.

  • .22s are usually used for practice. Since 22 rifles are light it's a good tool to help minimize trigger pull.

Also, a bullet from a .22 usually has very high velocity and it has a high chance of ending up someplace other than the entry point of a bullet wound. Simply put, a .22 can still kill you.

  • your 15 what would you know

  • umm ya. biggest grizzly bear in the world killed by a .22. yea really weak... um ya no.

  • that much have been a really good shot placement or just bullshit a bear diden't even drop from a full mag with .50 AE

  • @NarowAR07 The .50 AE is only used with the Magnum research Desert Eagle. Now, if you've got 2000 extra dollars laying around, maybe you have one, but I doubt you do. Furthermore, who uses a pistol to BEAR hunt, much less a 2000, 7-pound, unreliable beast like that?

  • that much have been a really good shot placement??? foreign or not, thats just not understandable, and a bear didn't even drop from a full mag with .50 AE? what the hell does that mean? and since when is the weak .50 AE a bear-stopper?

  • Just remember, bigger is not always better. For example go hunt a rabbit or the like with a larger round. You not only may destroy very edible meat bu the hole or by a destroyed bladder the bullet also may have gone through. Yo unow have bad meat and a stray round.

  • use remington there better

  • oh i thought it would be a full propane tank boom!

  • ooooo big deal

  • a 22 rifle has the same power as 32 cal hand gun

  • Gotta use better .22 ammo. What ammo did you use?

  • So someone thought "Well, I gone done used all that gas up, so what'll I do now? I know, I'll shoot holes in it"? Even if there's no gas coming out that just means you have one atmosphere of propane in there. Granted it's perforated now, but who was the dumbass who took the first shot?

  • Actually I put the first hole in the tank. Your right about there being 1 atmosphere of near 100% Propane in the tank at the time of the first shot. At 2500' above sea level that would equal about 13.5 PSIA. Since the upper explosive limit for propane is 9.5% by volume, it had to be ventilated with about a dozen shots before it made a puff. I was about 50 yards away with a mini 14 and could hear the sound of the expanding gases after ignition.

  • So you're a dumbass with cajones the size of church bells, but still a dumbass.

  • Sounds to me like he knows his shit

  • Lupus, go back to playing with your puppets.

  • @rx2tee You sir just owned him.

  • Stupid comments mostly...First even the standard .22 is stronh enough to kill you...and furthermore there dozens of high-speed variations of the .22....and also you should consider that the .22 is a favourite of killers...

  • This does not suprise me...my first firearm was a .22 rifle. I shot a piece of flat steel about the same thickness as that tank, and the bullet just dented it. Another guy was next to me with a .44 semi-auto handgun...he was punching quarter-sized holes in the steel!

  • a .22 long rifle hi-velocity fired from a rifle will kill just about anything on the planet. i wouldnt try shooting a cape buffalo in the head with a .22 pistol from 15 feet....but you get the idea. eskimos used them to kill polar bear...head shot. even if it doesnt go 'through & through' a .22 will usually have plenty of power to go through one layer of bone and then rattle around inside...scrambling everything up.

  • Which is why the .22 is more deadly than people think. You don't get a clean in and out but rather a bullet tyhat goes in and bounces around inside.

  • you sir got a pee shooter...

  • It's "pea" shooter, as in, shoots the tiny green vegetable, not squirting urine.

  • I bet you are some kid who owns a airsoft gun and thinks your the shit. You sir should not be alowed to ever own a gun because of your obvious ignorance about them. Mind sets like that is what gets people killed.

Think of me from that prison cell you wind up in because you shot your friend with a "pee shooter" and killed him

  • you sir got a pee shooter...

  • well I have to bag to differ on how "undeadly" a 22 cal can be. I went to someone's funeral in a tragic accidental case. The 22cal. handgun went off and hit her in the head. Way back a decade ago when I was 14. Of course it's not the best defense round but it's not a joke either. It happens.

  • .22 Long rifles may not be the most powerful rounds in the world, but they still could kill a human, even with a short 1 inch barrel could still injure or kill someone.

What I love about .22s the most is that they are super cheap and have really light recoil.

  • dude even if the bullet had come back the remaining kinetic energy would not be enough to hurt you

  • -to those who say 22's are 'weak'- 22's may be 'weak' compaired to other bullets.. but if you let me come over and let me put 1 bullet in any body part you choose you can describe to me how 'weak' they are when you stop screaming and bleading all over the place.. btw i can get a head shot at 25yrds almost every try w/my walther p22.. with most 'bigger' pistols youd be lucky to even hit the paper much less the target at that range...

  • that, would suck ass. if that would have came back. and hit you in the face or the heart.

  • all the energy from the bullet went into the tank and into squishing the bullet. it would maybe hurt if it came back, but not kill you. GTFO.

  • ...so

  • it would have gone through if it was steel core

  • 22s suck

  • Practice with the cheap rimfires help put the expensive centerfires on the target.

  • you said it!

  • As a navy seal said: If you put two in the heart and one in the head of someone he wont do the difference between 9mm or .50

  • true say

  • you suck

  • @golfman51 If I put one in your eye would they still "suck" ?

  • @golfman51 You suck, 22 rimfire is hella fun to play around with, they're also excellent for shooting stationary birds or small rodents, cheap, fun and excellent for plinking.

  • if that exploaded u wold lose ur camera

  • lawl?

Do you not see the bullet holes inside the propane tank.

    It wouldn't of exploded

  • .22 rifle is nothing

  • considering you probly have a cap gun...

  • to bad it aint loaded with propane. Did that once on a R&R I had few months back but it was a larger tank and it was by accident.
