what is great is she has two very different sounds. In the sixties a clesr bright sound now a voice that has lived live full of sorrow and regrets. Her voice nows works so much better on thi song now even she has been quoted as saying this is a 40 year olds song not the 20 year old who first recorded it.
I don't get the positive remarks from people on Marianne Faithfull vocals of the past 20 years. Why doesn't anyone actually say the truth? Marianne blew out her voice with smoking and drugs. For gosh sakes, she is singing this in a low key as she lost all her high registers. If you like the smokey, croakey vocals, ok, but this is terrible. She had a GREAT voice in the 60s, great modulation and range. Face it folks, you like this because of memories of a once great artist.
@ToyKingWonder I disagree entirely.. I am 32 years old and was not alive when she first recorded this song. So, your claim that "you like this because of memories of a once great artist" cannot apply to me.
I am is musicologist and a trained singer, and I think she is wonderful. Voices change with age and a variety of other factors, and it comes down to an aesthetic preference that may or may not be rooted in nostalgia. She is an expressive singer. Some people will like it; others will not.
This version in her later years expresses all of life that she has experienced since that cute perky teen she was in 1965. I'm nearing 60 and can relate to this very much ...but still love the '65 version as well
mike and thos all a cocksuckers youre thevbest very geatifukl girkl ever believe i got money money i got every thing you need i dont care if you love somreboby i will understand every i love you let me p,lrealsmrne i love whith all my heart beliebe no hard feelings

I stumbled on this video after hearing it last around 90s when I was quite young to remember who sang it. Brilliant song, brings lots of nostalgia of my own childhood growing in Juba which was cut short the vicious civil war that rage until 2005. It is a shame that many young people in Sudan had very little of a way of fond childhood memory
what is the story behind the picture?

Great Marianne, better than herself in the 60ies and Jagger in 2006 versions.

This is a great slowed down live version, Twice as long as the original 1965 pop song.
I think you have an error in the date, it was 1988/89. The CD was released in 1990.
Also there are extended versions of Broken English, Lucy Jordan and a 7.5 min version of Sister Morphine, an outstanding collection.
