It was the Interstate hwys such as I-10,,I-40,,I-70 That allowed folks to pass by these old towns traveling 70 miles an hr with out ever seeing them or much less stopping in them, that shut Homtown America down, Its a shame for sure,, Great video ,, Thanks
The abandoned sights and sites along the mother road, Route 66, are amazing...and your video really takes you there. Thank you so much for posting. By the way, I had the pleasure of interviewing Mr. Milner and I hope yo don't mind me suggesting that viewers type into search: route 66 festival part 1
I wish my great great grand parents had taken a ship to America instead of staying put in England , I yearn the for American country..........maybe someday cause America's calling strangely enough !
@tripleheshy Actually its the womans fault.once they thought they didn't want to cook & clean for their own family.......instead they prefered to cook & clean outside of the home for other people. Thanks Mom!
I've only been to Bodie once,my mom took me there when I was like three(that would've been 1964).So,I really don't remember that much about it.Huell Howser went there,a few years back, and some of those old buildings did look familiar, somehow.Did they ever actually number the road to Bodie?
Some of those pictures are definitely Bodie Ca. and you are right, that's not on Rt 66. The Road to Bodie is curiously enough named Bodie Rd. numbered 270 off the 395 halfway between Bishop Ca. and Carson City Nv... no where near Rt 66
I remember Huell doing about five minutes of his show about Bodie in front of that church. The park system is doing some sort of work on it to keep it from eroding any further.Something like shelacking the whole town to stop it from rotting away.Actually sounds like a good idea, considering only about a tenth of the original town is left.
some really beautiful pictures in there!! Did you take them? I love the old car and old building pics! Makes me want to take a trip on old route 66! Thanks so much for sharing this!!

@PhilK1231 You are correct sir. This was once a great country right up until the hippie counter culture decided to ruin it.

@LitterboxDiorama True as well. The wives of most of my friends don't know an oven from a blender. Their idea of cooking is ordering take out.
