@llotuner nope, actually the dyno showed, the only other mods i got are short ram intake, mildly tuned cams, headers, and strait 2.5" exhaust with hi flow cat. it does well this way, and you can say what you want, but the dyno said otherwise
@RodeoSteve69 youd need some internal work for that. general opinnion seems to be that a stock DOHC saturn engine can take close to 300hp with a turbo and good tune. still fucking amazing if u think about it

My first car was a saturn sc2 with a manual transmission.I was able to beat many cars including honda civics and even my friends 1999 nissan maxima automatic from 0 to about 75mph.One time i was cruising along in the early hours dark cold New york night going to work and some guy in a 2000-2002 maxima tried to get in front of me on a one way road saw him in the back mirror dropped from 4th to 2nd floored it and as i accelerate he cant even keep up with me.
wow dude, that definitely went over 7000 rpms, had to. I hope thats a turbo, or that car moves some beastly amounts of air naturally aspirated.(By that I mean atmospheric pressure without turbo)
yeah that 1.9L DOHC motor is awesome... very reliable other than a lot of oil usage. check/change your oil often and that motor is just as good if not better than hon-duh motors. and saturns have timing CHAINS not belts like hon-duhs so that's one less thing to worry about. although i will say the SOHC motor SUCKS.
just for the record, im not against japan cars, its just hard to find one around Canada that hasn't been driven to hell and back again. And im not even kidding.

The SC2's are nice car's, they look alot faster than they really are but there pretty reliable, i'd prefer a car with a little more Hp than 124 but for a daily car and the features they have there actually a really good deal, but yeah pretty much nothing for aftermarket support going for them
HP isn't the only number to look at though. They make more torque than most of their peers, and weigh less. With 4 wheel independent suspension and great spring rates and shock valving, it's a quick, tossable package.
yeah thats true they got way better torque the any civic, there handling is about the same as most civics though. Overall i'd say there better than any civic. But thats very true these cars are very light which helps alot with acceleration and its handling. i respect these cars alot, there good but nobody respects the saturn brand

That exhaust setup is loooong gone. I had just chopped off the old shit and drove around for a a while for fun.
The car is all back to stock now anyways, no graphics, wheels, stereo or anything. I'm done with it, and want something bigger and quicker when I'm done school this spring. Great car though, I'd recommend it to anyone looking for an inexpensive, fun to drive commuter. I did very well in STS and DSP auto-x classes as well. The only thing these cars miss is serous aftermarket support.

Zx2, Celica, Mustang, Sentra, Civic, Integra, Accord, Prelude, Jetta, Golf, etc, all offer better performance then that shit box. It's all about the DOHC.. thats a retadedly huge exhaust pipe, you lose all your low end torque with that shit. Just take off the muffler and put a shiny tip on the end .. still loud, you keep your torque and free flow =]

I have a satrurn sC1. SoHc, with a Sm MOtor sports short ram intake , and a magnaflow exhaust,, and ive taken out many hondas, and even kept up with a 2007 Civic si..Saturn will blow away any japanese import..if any one knows where i can get headers ,and lowering springs message me.

I drive my saturn hard as i would a Honda and no problems, i use aftermarket parts to support the strain it goes through, using synthetic oil and stuff helps too.

When you install that PCM on a manual car, most of those limits are gone. And again, there's really no point to be spinning one of these motors so high unless you've got some trick cams and SERIOUS head work, or have gone with some form of forced induction. The head seriously runs out of breath at high RPMs.
I have a 1996 SC2 that Im rebuilding, once its done I am taking my 1995 SL1 off the road. The SC2 is twin cam and manual while the SL1 of mine is single cam and auto.. will the PCM still work properly switch from single to dual cam?
wr3tch3d - There's pretty much no point to rev that high in neutral, even to launch, you'll just spin the wheels.
Viking - look into swapping in an auto PCM, they have no top speed or rev limits. Again, there's no point with the mods you've got, as power will be falling off at about 6500rpm anyway.
I have a 95 Saturn auto, and it has a top speed limit of 203kph, and when in drive it shifts at 5500rpm when you've got it floor. In second there is no limiter but you only can get up to like 130kph at 7000rpm. So when in drive and you hit 203 the engine shuts off (or rather the fuel pump/injectors do) and the engine almost pulses off and on and your speed hovers around 203
That's the stock rev limit at 6750. It's just the AEM CAI intake noise for that engine. Some sort of intake resonance I guess. That noise goes away with a short ram, as well as with no intake at all. With the way the power drops off at the top end, there would be no benefit to upping the revs unless you force feed the car, or do extensive head/ cam work to let it breath more in the top end.
oh so the wheels are moving when you reved it up that high?? because i am trying to figure out how to take the limiter off when your in neutral because it will only go to 4000 rpm's then

just had my transmission literaly explode leaving a football size hole in the bottom of the tran and a baseball sized one on the top.. not i wasnt racing just driving cassually going about 40mph.. shit sucked... i hate my sc2

How old was your sc2? Auto or manual? Only thing i've noticed over the years is my tranny slips if I try to accelerate to fast in 3rd and 4th gear.

Same thing happend to mine, engine was SOLID 7200RPMS ALL DAY.
Though, diff pin will evenutally come lose after excessive burnouts, I had it for 4000 miles. The person i bought it from, used it for drag racing.
I could tell by the major clutch wear, when I replaced it at purchase and 2nd gear syncro going out.

I think a lot fo you guys missed the point that this was a TOTAL joke. I lost power doing this. Don't fucking straight pipe your car. This was the intermediate step between a stock - ish exhaust and a proper exhaust setup.
Yeah, SC2s suck, compared to more expensive shit. Dollar for dollar, your civic won't touch one though. What's the point of bitching this one out online? None.

The exhaust on my 84 Plymouth Horizon broke before the muffler, so I took off the muffler. It has more power and it sounds awesome!

My first car was a saturn sc2 with a manual transmission.I was able to beat many cars including honda civics and even my friends 1999 nissan maxima automatic from 0 to about 75mph.One time i was cruising along in the early hours dark cold New york night going to work and some guy in a 2000-2002 maxima tried to get in front of me on a one way road saw him in the back mirror dropped from 4th to 2nd floored it and as i accelerate he cant even keep up with me.

yeah that 1.9L DOHC motor is awesome... very reliable other than a lot of oil usage. check/change your oil often and that motor is just as good if not better than hon-duh motors. and saturns have timing CHAINS not belts like hon-duhs so that's one less thing to worry about. although i will say the SOHC motor SUCKS.

The SC2's are nice car's, they look alot faster than they really are but there pretty reliable, i'd prefer a car with a little more Hp than 124 but for a daily car and the features they have there actually a really good deal, but yeah pretty much nothing for aftermarket support going for them

HP isn't the only number to look at though. They make more torque than most of their peers, and weigh less. With 4 wheel independent suspension and great spring rates and shock valving, it's a quick, tossable package.

yeah thats true they got way better torque the any civic, there handling is about the same as most civics though. Overall i'd say there better than any civic. But thats very true these cars are very light which helps alot with acceleration and its handling. i respect these cars alot, there good but nobody respects the saturn brand

yeah 2400 lbs is light, i'll agree that there better than most civic's, i really like these cars. there torque figures are about the same as there Hp but at lower revs. they are nice little packages. lol and whats with that guy and his "saturds" lol

That exhaust setup is loooong gone. I had just chopped off the old shit and drove around for a a while for fun.
The car is all back to stock now anyways, no graphics, wheels, stereo or anything. I'm done with it, and want something bigger and quicker when I'm done school this spring. Great car though, I'd recommend it to anyone looking for an inexpensive, fun to drive commuter. I did very well in STS and DSP auto-x classes as well. The only thing these cars miss is serous aftermarket support.

Was a talking about Honda's? That Saturn probably has a value of like 1k, like a late 80's honda. Zx2, Celica, Mustang, Sentra, Civic, Integra, Accord, Prelude, Jetta, Golf, etc, all offer better performance then that shit box. The only good Saturn was the Redline, and that was still a rubbish car besides the engine. Also that exhaust sounds like ass. Ok imapunkbmxsuckcocker O_o

It's all about the DOHC.. thats a retadedly huge exhaust pipe, you lose all your low end torque with that shit. Just take off the muffler and put a shiny tip on the end .. still loud, you keep your torque and free flow =]

There's no way your single cam is at 155 with an SRI and Catback. Got dyno slips? You've got a nice car, but too many people make them out to be more than what they are, and that's why the rest of us catch flak for owning them.

i agree. i have an SC2, theyr good cars but its the ppl that think they are the shit that are not bright. they are quick, they are fun, they can be modified to fuckin haul ass, but theyr not some V8 or anything, theyr fun thas all. I love mine :) got the AEM intake on it and 2 ten inch subs, flowmasters comin!!

I will admit SOME American made cars suck but...some are lemons. Any problem i had with the saturn (hardly ever i replaced with aftermarket parts) car never gave me trouble.Some cars like cavaliers(american made) have been negected and driven to shit.

not true. Lots of companies make parts for Saturns. You probably won't do this but next time your gf or yourself buy a car, get a saturn thats not cheap shit. Get it looked over by Saturn. I drive my saturn hard as i would a Honda and no problems, i use aftermarket parts to support the strain it goes through, using synthetic oil and stuff helps too.

and it gets 34mpg and im only running 26psi (my turbo is good to well over 40psi it's just getting in to efficency range at 26)

When you install that PCM on a manual car, most of those limits are gone. And again, there's really no point to be spinning one of these motors so high unless you've got some trick cams and SERIOUS head work, or have gone with some form of forced induction. The head seriously runs out of breath at high RPMs.

I have a 1996 SC2 that Im rebuilding, once its done I am taking my 1995 SL1 off the road. The SC2 is twin cam and manual while the SL1 of mine is single cam and auto.. will the PCM still work properly switch from single to dual cam?

wr3tch3d - There's pretty much no point to rev that high in neutral, even to launch, you'll just spin the wheels.
Viking - look into swapping in an auto PCM, they have no top speed or rev limits. Again, there's no point with the mods you've got, as power will be falling off at about 6500rpm anyway.

I have a 95 Saturn auto, and it has a top speed limit of 203kph, and when in drive it shifts at 5500rpm when you've got it floor. In second there is no limiter but you only can get up to like 130kph at 7000rpm. So when in drive and you hit 203 the engine shuts off (or rather the fuel pump/injectors do) and the engine almost pulses off and on and your speed hovers around 203

That's the stock rev limit at 6750. It's just the AEM CAI intake noise for that engine. Some sort of intake resonance I guess. That noise goes away with a short ram, as well as with no intake at all. With the way the power drops off at the top end, there would be no benefit to upping the revs unless you force feed the car, or do extensive head/ cam work to let it breath more in the top end.
