@solidsnake30000000 L4D2 is a Valve game, if you buy it, it will automatically come with Steam and you have no choice. If you illegally download it, you can get it non-Steam but you can't play on Valve servers. This server is a VAC secured server.

@solidsnake30000000 New Vegas is made by Obsidian not Valve, it is supported by Steam but it is not required because it is not made by Valve. L4D2 is created by Valve and Valve created Steam, therefore Valve Games REQUIRE Steam, Non Valve games don't require it, but can still have it as an option.
