The Desert symbol is nice for Robot Carnival; an educated person put this together. The United States of America was founded in a desert, with the proclamation of a "new order for the ages." It is on the Great Seal and the one dollar bill. If you can read mythology, allegory, metaphor, and the spirit; then you can understand, for in the nothingness is Robot Carnival, and it is the most advance show in town.
Damn... it's been soo long since I last seen this on television and I still remember seeing this. My first thought to it? "What the hell?" Very good collection though. I really need to sit down and try to find them all one day.
Thanks for uploading. Even if it is "mostly just credits," I have always ADORED this music, ever since I first saw Robot Carnival. BTW, any one else think it sounds awfully like "O Little Town of Bethlehem"?
I love the music at the end of this movie. The emotion that I get from it is something like "Life is crazy but beautiful." I really wish this movie was available on DVD.
Gotta give this film credit - even the ending is captivating. The closing waltz is just incredible, and the final scene manages to be amusing and disturbing at the same time.
It's too bad RC never got more recognition. It's a true classic.
I haven't seen Robot Carnival since I was a KID watching the sci-fi channel back in da DAY! Still, after all those years I remember this song but not the whole song though.
This is more than just credits, this tells the story of the Robot Carnival Marquee. It would appear it was built possibly hundreds of years ago and was quite a sight to behold and went on a worldwide tour. Thus it soon faded out of the minds of those who once saw it as a brillant show and piece of work and was soon forgotten in the sands of the desert. It could even have outlived most of human existance hence the natives in the opening scene of the show.
I'm guessing that because it lasted all those years, that the Robot Carnival became defunct and dangerous to all those it encountered instead of entertaining and making people smile.
@Magestrix It's more like it was once the pinnacle of live entertainment and technological genius of humanity, it traveled all the world, but then somehow the world was destroyed by what I assume was a huge war, and the now purposeless and damaged carnival continuedmarching until it broke down, being no longer a marvel, but a walking horror for those whoe encountered it.
The music reminds me of a cross between David Newman's score from Tim Burton's "Frankenweenie", John Morris' score from David Lynch's "The Elephant Man", and Dean Elliott's score from Ruby-Spears' "Scruffy".
would it be okay if i showed all of the Robot Carnival videos that you put up to my anime club? we're trying to find some of the old anime shows and i think this would be perfect!
oh that was fun reliving my childhood with robot carnival!! nothing can beat this anime ever! not even miysaki. the themes of technology ruining mankind and how robots want love from humans is priceless. you don't find these kinds of themes in anime today. thank you so much for posting these! you are god to me right now!
Yeah this rocks! The flashbacks of the metropolis and the great desert now are sublime like shownig all mankind's pride gone to hell and only remain dead shells of the glory of the past...
A memorable way of ending such an interesting film. Though you gotta wonder what kind of psychological damage and trauma those kids must have went through just to do this ending.
I love the music during the end credits, I've been going around whistling and/or humming it for the past week or so. I wish the soundtrack CD wasn't so rare/expensive.
Watching this last segment always makes me wish I had had an opportunity to see Robot Carnival on a big screen when it came out.
Oddly, This film was never relased theatrically in Japan as far as I can tell, but was originally released as an OAV, but in the US, it was screened theatrically in art houses using the version that was released on tape here with this sequence edited down to remove the flashback sequences (let alone shuffle the segments the way it was). I could be wrong about that though, but often I get conflicting reviews that either say it's a movie or an OAV.
That last part was Horrible! All those family peoples gettin' blown up like that! Nice film, though.

@HenryvKeiper Reminds me a little of the music from the Puppet Master series. I like this music too. It's eerie and calming at the same time.

Anyone notice at :26 when the music starts you can see the robot conductor from the opening scene laying in the sand.
