One of the ALL TIME BEST performance in cinema hisotry. Marion became the character and re-inbodied the spirit of Edith. I was glued to film from start to finish. Every award won she deserved!
I remember seeing this amazing film and telling anyone who would listen that Marion Cotillard deserved to win the Oscar, but was worried she wouldn't even get a nomination. So I took great joy in saying "I told you so" to all those people who didn't take my advice and see the movie. We rarely get foreign films at the local theater.
For one who has no seen thisn movie, that doesnt even look like the actress. I can tell briefly at times when she has her face I recognise her, but they really transformed her very nice. I didnt really believe it was Marion until I looked quickly and closely at parts she had her face when she was singing.
There are two Edith Piaf in this world. One is Edith Piaf , and the other is Marion Cotilard. And both of them are amzing , beautiful and truly talented.
This is France at the center of her great heart: disguising naught but her tears and her scars, defiantly, victoriously--and proudly--proclaiming her love of life.
I cried so much and so often during this movie that it was a real treat for my contact lens! Seriously, what a moving oeuvre d'art and what a superb interpretation from Cotillard!
