  • with all due respect, people were negatively comparing this band to my favorite group, My Chemical Romance. In my opinion, they are two different kinds of rock, its like judging a sedan by how much it can tow.

  • god bless this.........such an artilcle of true rock and roll....the fucking motor city five motherfucker......................droppin bombs~!

  • rip brother , Chico CA

  • Go to my page and listening to The Soulmovers!

There you got a real influenced band of mc5! From sweden pals!

    Save the music!

  • Seeing them in videos of live concerts, the MC5 was a great band, but this never came across in their albums. For some reason their studio stuff was on the lame side. And I'm old enough that I actually have their albums on vinyl.

  • mc 5 was a good rock band...i like them but they were also commies....just sayin

  • we love michael !!

  • Kick Out The Jams Motherfuckers!!!!

  • R.I.P. Michael

  • Good to see so many acknowledge the passing of Bassist Michael Davis. For us young rebellious punks who grew up in Detroit back in the day, the MC5 were our Beatles.

  • THIS is Rock N Roll!

  • Just read their bassist died. RIP M. Davis

  • 45 Nixon Republicans making me wonder how they can reach the keyboard with such a debilitating case of anal-cranial inversion... m\/ (^_^)_$

  • Rock In Peace Michael!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Cool piece of history. Gotta Love the days of extended jam bands......Ben Fuentes

  • Crowd stiffness couldn't squelch this hot performance; pure genius unleashed.

  • I WOULD LIKE TO EXTEND MY CONDOLENCE TO THE DAVIS FAMILY ,REST IN PEACE MICHAEL DAVIS.

  • Rest In Peace, Michael Davis.

  • R.I.P. Davies, Sonic Smith and Tyner.

  • R.I.P. Davies, Sonic Smith and Tyner.

  • Sad that Michael Davis passed away. RIP

  • R.I.P. Michael Davis.

  • RIP Michael Davis, and Fred Sonic Smith. Long live the MC5.

  • R.I.P. - Michael Davis. These guys were a great band that cast a huge shadow over the speed metal and punk movements to come. Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame, anyone?

  • R.I.P Michael Davis!

  • RIP Michael Davis of MC5 who died at 68.

  • r.i.p Michael Davis

  • R.I.P. Michael Davis 1948 - 2012! You rocked that bass hard guy. Thank you for you and your band's contribution to rock music!

  • 20 years ahead of there time-saw them in April 1969 at Eagels in Seattlem.Only Tacoma,Washingtons - The Sonics - could hold a candle to the MC5 this explains why today both these bands are true legends of rock and roll !!

  • MC5 bassist Michael Davis died today. RIP and thanks for the noise.

  • Gail is so hot!!

  • This is part of the "OTHER" Motown sound of the 60's.

  • they definitly kickrd it out.

  • July 19, 1970. I was there. Savage Grace performed their great song, Mystery Train, which they never released. Have a recording from TubeWorks.

  • @MrCherubhair1 u dont know what the Ramones would say (dont call me a fool BITCH)

  • Mind blowing.

  • That audience is still because an audience like that usually PAID ATTENTION to the band that was in front of them. Especially in the late '60s / early '70s. While it's cool to slam dance and mosh (I did my share of it as a teen in the '90s), it's kinda disrespectful to the band in one sense. The audience of the '60s danced a lot, but they really paid attention. As if they were studying whatever amazing band was playing. THEN they went home, cranked the stereo, and thrashed their bedroom.

  • NO LO CONOSIA..ES LO MALO DE ESTAR TAN CHAVO,,JEJE..MUY CHINGON ESTOS DE MC5...

  • @richarhalford CIERTO O NO " ESTA ES LA ACTITUD QUE DEBEERIAN DE TENER MUCHAS DE LAS BANDAS DE LATINOAMERICA PERO LA ENERGIA Y ENTUSIASMO DE ROB TYNER LO PONEN MEJOR.

  • lmao they all stand up after the music starts

  • Thank Yawea/Allah/heyZooose....we still have this footage!!!!

  • "That's the thrilling conclusion to tonights episode of the Detroit Tube Works." BALLOOOONS! XD

  • @666popey666 I don't care I really didn't want a reply but u have ur opinion and I have mine but thanx for the info :)

  • This song is just amazing o,o to me it sounds too recent... I still can't believe it was the 60's...

  • Dig those Ricky's.

  • motherfucking censoring

  • @asskickerfoo - Have to protect frail american sensitivities you know... Those people are apparently children unable to take language more mature than kindergarten level.

  • Damn.. this is making my beer taste so much better... Love MC5!!

  • THE RAMONES KICK THESE GUYS BUTTS

  • @Hi5Gymnast No... These guys did it first... by a long way!

Can you imagine Rob, Fred & Wayne doing "Baby I love you" with a fucking string section!

  • @Hi5Gymnast: why compare?

  • @Hi5Gymnast Why even compare? I'm sure the ramones wouldn't agree, you are a fool.

  • I WANNA SO WANNA KICK OUT THE RUBBERS AND FUCK GAIL ! :()

    :)

  • EPIC!

  • TODAYS LESSION : KICKING OUT THE JAMS

NOW GO WRITE A PAPER ON IT LOL :)

  • DAMMM IT I WANT TO ENROLL AT THE UNVERSITY OF MC5 :)

  • Rip roarin' and totally great!

  • RKODIO !

  • why do ppl need to fight over music HE CAME BEFORE HIM! BUT HES A BETTER GUITARIST...................shut the fuck up and enjoy the music.....those ppl either love each other, admire the new kids or look up to who came before them.......music is to be shared.....

  • 2:50 holy shit i think we witnessed the invention of stage diving!!!

  • Fuckin' A

  • The cars floating by in the background are the goods. So obviously one of the bestest, most originalist kick-assist bands ever. And yeah, thumbs up if you were listening to them in '82 like me instead of Def Leppard...

  • SO THIS WAS THE BAND THAT THE WHITE STRIPES WERE INSPIRED BY, HELL YEAH, MC5=LEGENDS!!

  • Damn this is killer, why does it take me so long to find these bands?

  • FUCK. That's sooooooo good

  • mc5,ted nugent derek st holmes alice cooper bob seager glen frye (from the eagles) mark farner (grand funk railroad) tommy james and the shondells kid rock eminem iggy pop ........michigan........the undisputed home of rock and rollers

  • @jmat412

Tell that to Black Sabbath, Queen, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Deep Purple, Led Zepplin. Without England MC5 wouldn't exist.

  • @pilotamurorei that's stupid. then you should tell that to Elvis. then rock 'n roll wouldn't exist. Then you should tell that to the guys who started jazz. Then you should tell that to Beethoven.

The motor city is EASILY the undisputed champ of rock 'n roll, soul, and R&B.

  • @pilotamurorei

Ironically, without MC5, the greatest English rock and roll band Motorhead would not exist. In early interviews Lemmy stated he wanted his band to be England's answer to the MC5.

  • @CorvusMetus ... must be using the new math: 44yrs > 48yrs = derp

  • @pilotamurorei funny how this group predates over half those you listed...your point then?

  • Still bruisin' after all these decades! I played this live version (very loud) at a bash on Dec. 31, 2011. A great way to bring in 2012. Happy New 2012 to everyone!

  • reminds me a lot of the mars volta :) possible influence lended from mc5 pherhaps?

  • WTF was up with the balloon poppin bitch at the end? Those balloons cost money she dont have!

  • now i have to find a video where wayne kramer does some of that fancy mojo legwork

  • ha ha ha ha ha ha ha hoo hoo heeeeeeee!!!!!!! god i love those guys. seeing them live like this is what it is all about. man, i can't stop laughing after seeing that (uncontrollable laughter from happiness, not ridicule)

  • Gail RULES!

  • I cannot believe that Rob Tyner dared to do this

  • The crowd is absolutely stunned.

  • When the first thing you hear is KICK OUT THE JAMS MOTHERFUCKER! you know they are gonna rip the shite up.

  • Tryin to remember where I'd heard this before/ after. Rage against the machine aha.

  • @patton303. Yup. I hate the who but these guys are the real deal.

  • A dangerous and awesome band. I love It!!!

  • The sound of Punk to come...

  • Jeez. This just blew everyone away!! I wish music today had the same mind blowing effect. MC5 were doing something right. I love this band!

  • I miss having a culture

  • The audience looks so stoned lol

  • History..... right here... this is the band The Who always wished they could be,....

  • @patton303 Disagree. The Who were doing this louder and earlier. I'd also say better but I am biased, and MC5 deserves all the respect. Pioneers.

  • the people in the crowd have no soul look at them just standing around like they just huffed locker rook geeeeeeeeees lmao

  • @theripper9 You some dickhead mate, you judge life by howmuch ya jump around ya twat...................how about the music was so good they just stood back in awe?

    To complicated for ya ?

Never seen an equation that quality=jumping around, maybe ya science class is as dumb as you?

    Rock on dumbass!!!!

  • @theripper9 perhaps they were too amazed.can't say i blame them. it is good

  • worlds first stage dive at 2:49

  • Undeniable raw energy here - even from those of us who usually don't care for punk. This just simply works and the beat they use would not catch on until the 1970s. Ahead of their time for sure. This type of stuff is hard to pull off because everyone in the band needs to be on the same attitude and energy level - in order to get the audience to surrender to one riff.

  • real music!

  • I have watched this clip a dozen times but what struck me tonight was: just LOOK at how much fun those guys are having!

  • there like huh?

  • BEYOND AHEAD OF THERE TIME......

  • that is one serious afro;great band.

  • 1:27 I put a Rock n Roll spell on you.

  • At 1:20 the guitarist moves the ass like a dirty ass whore and still looks like the motherfucking boss.

  • @truedude86

There is NEVER any need to use foul language. the use of foul language shows a lack of education.

  • @SueOhio2002 Er, no it doesn't. I would argue that such a generalised and inaccurate comment is a far greater indicator of a lack of education. Instead of responding I suggest you research the subject & look for some examples of highly educated people who do swear. There are great many of them. The erudite and charming Stephen Fry would be a good one to start with :)

  • @Jellyform Rock on Jelly..looks like someone has a brain and actually uses it. I feel sorry for Sue..cause I am almost certain she has never had a good fuck before.

  • @Jellyform Haha yeah, go search "Stephen Fry Swearing" on here. I'm sure there's a fantastic quote from him, where he describes the notion that swearing is unnecesary as "fucking lunacy"

  • @SueOhio2002 Language changes with the generations. And it is different for each person. What you may consider foul, might be another's poetry. Try expanding your mind and horizons a bit. Kick out the sides of the box you live in. You actually have NO RIGHT to come to such an ignorant conclusion.

  • @SueOhio2002 That's an incredibly weak statement regarding 'foul language' - Chaucer himself spoke of "farting" and "ers" (ass in Middle English) in the Canterbury Tales. Hemmingway was known to have a vile tongue when provoked, and Winston Churchill was prone to using some of the more popular four-letter epithets in his day... No, ma'am, foul language does not show a 'lack of education' it's what you say around those words that makes the difference.

  • @Cubroncs03

Don't forget Rabelais, Cervantes, Shakespeare; they all use vile language and imagery.

  • @AntonioSaucedo22 Nice; thanks Antonio

  • the crowd isnt moving at all because of how eventful mc5 was and how the stage presence blew everyone away

  • 0.04 jimi hendrix...

  • Damn, is that Hendrix in the crowd? lol

  • Knew it! Cedric Bixler-Zaval of At The Drive-In/The Mars Volta is a wannabe Rob Tyner, lol!
