  • 7:19 he's got the force!!!!! lol but besides the point this is one of my favorite violin recordings ever

  • Perhaps one of the musicologically astute repliers can explain the issue of just intonation.

  • Bellisimo, muy dulce y nitido el sonido...

  • I have your CD , buying on like promissing.

I felt your big beautiful elegant snow heavy as your many efforts of your wills wih foot prints ,your shining wills are making grand impressions in always.

Comfortable ,not moving quickly on your playing lines make your good

music excellent style in mejor as same as a mejor player.

Orchestra and halls with good conductors were like being in front of a god .

Flying bird or open fan by peachoc on your arts is my wish ,next CD.

  • Excellent, thanks for posting this. Those double stops are thrilling. Several years ago I bootlegged (from front row center) Itzhak Perlman performing this with the Seattle Symphony. Have it on my iPod (along with this year's Frank Zappa piece from opening week btw). But this version is just as good, if not superior, imo.

  • I keep on coming... and continue thinking:

" 3:13 and on: pure perfection."

" too lusty for a church"

" mmmh.. he is not good at all, it is that he has a good violín"

"a french playing beethoven. an excellent balance"

  • This man plays wonderfully and he is handsome to boot.

  • it's "too" much funny the so-close take at the horn players, almost a quote to Orson Wells .. hehhe.

greetings to all who enjoy this!

  • My goodness, they're playing in just intonation!

  • @StMartinTours hey! what do you mean by "just intonation"? ... in perfectly tuned? in "perfect temper" like pianos?... tnxs!

  • @lobezno06 Listen to Capucon's double stops at the beginning. Purely tuned intervals - not the compromised harmonies of equal temperament. Not all violinists do this! And the orchestra is playing in pure harmonies as well.

  • kurt maser came to conduct our youth orchestra, such a great guy!

  • How beautifully each note is shaped! My goodness!

  • Certified Intergalactic! Probably the best Beethoven Romance No.1.

  • The violin is a great one though.

  • capuçon ist völlig überbewertet

  • @medmai , so it seems to YOU. I think it's always the combination of a certain kind of music/ a composer and the interpretation AND the listener's preference. Either it's a fit or it 'isn't: potatoes - tomatoes if you get my drift. But it feels really annoyingly condescending and in fact quite stupid to JUDGE a rarefied musician so harshly. Don't! Just switch channels to someone you prefer ...

  • love it

  • interesting combination isn't it; Kurt masur and Renaud Capuçon.

  • At 2.34 (start at 2:30) he annoyingly plays a wrong note (a natural instead of sharp).

Often, there are different versions, but this, is very annoying and MUST be wrong.

Maybe he learned it wrong. If he wants to play it great, he should hear recordings of others, more often. That would also prevent having a wrong note in ones mind.

  • @violin614 You mean the C? You're right that it should be sharp but that's what it sounds like to me!

  • @AJInstrumental

It's an A# which he plays a clear A natural.

  • @violin614 Ah, well in that case, at least with my music, that A is supposed to be natural. However the two A's right before that are #. Here's the measure in question in the music I have: yfrog. com/msmeasurep

  • @AJInstrumental He plays a# b a(nat) c# b a(nat) instead of a# b a# c# b a(nat).

I thought it was obvious what i meant. Now it should be.

  • @violin614 : I've listened to this piece lots of times and to lots of violinists (Oistrach &&&) and to me it sounds perfectly RIGHT, what's it with you people, you insufferable knowitalls, who feel a compulsive need to show OFF by criticising first class musicians - well, but that's how the saying goes: those who can DO, those who can't become critics ....

  • @47viviane You have a point, and i normally only look positively. However here, i think i was basically commenting about a different note played, perhaps from some unusual score or some mistake maybe/maybe not.

I too have listened to this many times, as well as many other violinists.

If ever i speak a bit picky and choosy, or self righteous-like, you are now doing the same to me now!

  • @violin614 I know exactly where you mean. However, the new editions that have come out have used this new notation with the A natural earlier. So he is not playing it wrong; in fact, I prefer this way. The V 6/5 chord underneath it does not change so the A natural can be placed wherever the editor or performer prefers.

  • @violin614 Did you also listen to the notes that he played beautifully?

  • @ModernRitual What you say, is always very important, before criticising. I normally do what you said, but not always. Only when it comes naturally, like if it is kreisler playing, as i am biassed towards these historic violinists (or young prodigies). I must still train myself a little more!

  • Certifié intergalactique! Universel!

Renaud Capuçon suit après la longue tradition des grands violonistes français depuis Jacques Thibaud.

  • Superbe

  • i once played this piece and i f***ing died by nervosity, it was so terrible! these doublestops in the beginning are so difficult to perform nicely, especially if you're upset...

    i love his playing!!
