  • John, you did such a fine job of making this. Putting in the sounds was quite convincing to Kat, who was spellbound by the whole thing.

  • @otef434 Thanks for the Friday afternoon affirmation! It was a fun project and definitely part of the filming and editing learning experience.

  • nice shots. .looking at the body length and bill size, I'm thinking that first woodpecker might be a female hairy woodpecker and not a downy.

  • Kind words, LD. It was a fun video to put together, giving me a chance to expand my very modest editing skill set.

And yes, having all those different species flocking (oops) to the feeder in the winter is a real treat. I think I may decide to leave the buffet up all year rather than taking it down in May. The suet won't work in our summer heat, but the birds never seem to tire of the hulled sunflower seeds.

So how in the world did you find this video? I'm always curious about that.

  • Great job.

  • Great great vid, awesome birds and great wooded lot. Praise God you don't live where I do in America's biggest corrupted shithole affectionantly called Chicago where gross obese people co-exist with millions of mourning doves, starlings, and house sparrows. Truly the place where Satan sticks the sinners. Your so lucky, keep the birds alive!

  • Can't figure out why my responses never post. Frustrating. Anyway, one more try.

Hulled sunflower seeds from Uhler's Seedman in Frazer. I pick up a 50# bag every fall. They love it.

The editing is dead simple. I use AVS4You's Video Editor, but Windows Movie Maker is equally simple (and free).

I'll check out your vids, but I am definitely not a bird expert. I've figured out the 18-20 species I get here, but that's pretty much it.

  • Great video ! Always wanted to do something like this just lack the editing skills.

Boy that Downey is healthy and plump ! Almost looks like a hairy.

What do you feed these guys that has the peckers ignoring the suet ?

Surprising to see a Junco on anything but a ground feeder. They come in droves here ... maybe dozen or so at a time.

Im right down the road in Devon. Just uploaded some vids today or a couple hairys and a hawk maybe you could help me identify ?
