  • I love this. I was born in Ashton, and this is pure Ashton humour.

  • George Formby Snr had TB. He was in a clinic in the Peak Forest sharing a room with Jack Buchanan (yes the actor/film star) and my Great Uncle Thomas Ball. Sadly George and my great uncle would die later of TB but Jack Buchanan survived. Sadly Jack was slated for not fighting in WW1 but TB had nearly killed him and he was not fit enough to join up.

  • Can't you here his son in his voice at times ?. It is wonderful to hear George Snr and it is so sad that he died at the age of 45.

  • Kind of a cross between George Grossmith, Henry Lytton and his own son, Formby Jr. Stylistically very late Victorian-Early Edwardian.

  • A day to remember George Formby, Sr who was born October 4, 1875 in Ashton-under-Lyne, England, UK. and died February 8, 1921 age 45.

  • Thank you for uploading this and making it available to wider audience.
