  • Douche Bag.

  • Dennis Kucinich should be our governer. Seriously.

  • The GOP are doing all they can to ruin America's economy. Not one job's bill!!!

They think if they can put thousands more out of their jobs and homes the next president will be a republican (most likely Mitt Romney) who was the worst governor in Mass history when it came to creating jobs. And the first thing they will do if they get the white house is to cut taxes for the wealthy! SUCKERS

  • SHOULD HAVE ELECTED MEG WHITMAN. HAHAHHA. SHE IS A SMART WOMAN. HAHAHA.

  • Where are the points? Where is the plan? I believe that companies need to pay their fare share but, I do not see this as happening.

We also need to pay for school not with parcel taxes but, with sales or other types of taxes. Why should they be connected to homes? There should be a state sales tax that pays for schools and that is it. Seems fare that everyone pays for it not just home and commercial real estate owners. I am against raising taxes. Taxes cause me the most grief.

  • I don't understand WHY people are complaining about our financial crisis...It was our votes that caused the financial dilemma. Our votes should be held accountible. We dug the hole that we are in...Gov. Brown is giving us a chance to FIX with our votes, the votes that caused this kerflufle in the first place. He is giving us the oportunity to vote for his proposed measures. Otherwise...things are going to get alot worse before they get better. One more thing...If you don't vote...Don't Complain!

  • @wmvine How did votes cause Enron to file for bankrupcy or Bell politicians to launder money? Creating a more efficient transportation system is better for us in the long run instead of giving all that money Texans who hate Californians. The problem is that there is no more real oppurtunities in California due to right wing extremism. You probably have a good retirement plan, but all social security is going to be exhausted in 5 years so how do you account for all the dead end jobs? Yes I voted.

  • You bald moron. CA has the #1 highest income taxes, #1 Sales Tax, #1 Gas tax, #8 highest Corp. Tax, #2 highest paid teachers (thats before Benefits) and a 55% drop out rate.

Prison guards get 8 weeks of vacation? Really Jerry? 8 WEEKS!!!

Enough is enough. Switch ALL Public Union Parasites to a 401k Retirement like everyone in the private sector!!! It is the only RIGHT thing to do!

Being the coward you are, don't expect anything but more sweetheart Public Union Deals and raising taxes.

  • @racerx289 Who fought for workers rights and under age labor laws and social security and medicare and established the middle class American dream? Democrats! Who is trying with great success to rid America of the middle class and decent paying jobs? Republicans! Just keep getting force-fed propaganda on FOX and watch where we end up. Our country is full of dimwits who know nothing of history of economics. We'll be led by the Palins and the Bachmanns. We will get what we deserve.

  • How many residents in the state of California are actually citizens, and paying taxes!!! Do the math. You're asking more money from a few only to put that money into schools that are educating more noncitizens! Don't cry that you're trying to help the schools, Nonpaying tax residents's children are attending. Now your shooing away jobs, too? Walking away is not what you said you would do. Get in there and do your job,...for the legal, tax paying citizens of the US and California.

  • @Muzzy337 You're the conservative, you believe in the status quo, that is literally the ideology. Don't play this beyond partisan bullshit either. If it walks like a duck... it's a duck.

Besides, I'm an actual progressive, someone who believes in the spirit of Teddy Roosevelt. I just hate to break it to ya: You guys have no ideas and nothing to offer.

Your phoney panic achieves nothing, nor your insults. I'm done with connies and America is right behind me. Good luck 2 ya!

    Bye!

  • @Muzzy337 Okay teabagged teabagger. You can take your lame talking point dictionary on how to talk like you're not an overly moronic ideologue who didn't get screwed by the rich people you defend, and cram it up there as well, I know there's plenty of room to go with your head and what not.

I guess I am just a simpleton. I love my country and my state and I believe in its future. I will not turn my back on it like you and the pirates you love so much who sent the jobs to China.

  • @Depsypher i would rather be a tea party MAN then a goddamn faggot ass democrat cry baby communist !!! by the way shit for brains "tea bagging" is when a WOMAN lowers her head below MAN'S scrotum and licks it ! tea bagging is a sexual act you stupid fuck wad ! go fuck yourself you goddamn antiamericn democrat faggot !!

  • @doubleslottedflaps His parents met at a family reunion.

  • NO Muzzy337 you and the liberal tree huggers sent the jobs to China. You can thank Bill Clinton for opening up trading with our sworn ENEMY of CHINA. Not that the Republicans are any better, they sold out too. Solyndra Solar Panel Company (that CA gave millions in startup money) moved to China because CA is such a horrible regulatory mess. Thanks CA democrats for chasing even Green jobs out of CA. Mfg jobs gone: Auto, paint, cement, solar panels...all because of regulations

  • @racerx289 Hey genius Muzzy 337 is a fucking moron, but she's not a "liberal treehugger". You meant to attack me.

The Republicans are not any better? I completely agree, they are much worse! Other than that, everything you said was factually wrong.

The country has been dominated by conservatism for 30 years. Even Obama is more conservative than Reagan. Taxes are lower, corporations have more power, yet, no jobs. Why is that?

Because Conservatism is a failure! Time to take our country back!

  • You are cutting education and continuing funds to the police state. You want to turn the next generation of poor Californians into addicts, you son of a bitch. Just because your parents sent you to Harvard, doesn't mean everyone is priveledged enough to be born into a wealthy family. All poor people are addicts, right....keep dreaming....narcissistic prick.

  • (SEE)

    HOW TO DISQUALIFY YOUR JUDGE

The polititions wont help us. And trying to get a Judge to judge a Judge about illegal payments to Judges does not work. So we must do it ourselvs.

  • Give the Courts back to the People. SBX211- UNCOSTITUTIONAL

RETRO ACTIVE IMMUNITY FROM PROSECUTION- UNCONSTUTIONAL

A SENATE BILL WITH MORE THAN ONE ISSUE- UNCONSTITIONAL

Your a lawyer, you know that judges taking bribes is a direct assault on DUE PROCCESS, FRAUD ON THE COURT.

Restore integrity and give the Courts back to the PEOPLE.

Nobody is above the LAW not even corrupt Judges.

    REPEAL SBX211

  • Do the right thing Governor Brown. Repeal SBX211; Stop the bribes to the judges of California. Los Angeles County judges are receiving $57,688.00 per year per judge. That is on top of the pay and benefits they already receive from the STATE.

Sturgeon v Los Angels County declared those payments to be unconstitutional. Granting judges RETRO ACTIVE IMMUNITY FROM PROSECUTION for taking bribes under SBX211 is an assault on the people of California. DO THE RIGHT THING. REPEAL SBX211

  • Someone else said Legalize Pot, don't stop with that, legalise and subsidize ALL drugs. Make it Legal, then there will be less goddam CRIME. And that would be a BIG source of income for Calfornia.

  • @XweAp0nX Prisons make money. big government loves prisons. it employs police, the courts, and unions.and tax the people for all these costs. They can charge about $40,000.00 per year per inmate. Polititions and the unions wont like legalizing pot. there is just to much money to be made criminalizing someone that want's to smoke a joint.

  • RePUKICANS are skags, plain and simple. Our Previous Guvornator thought he could use machine gun tactics, he treated california as if he was the goddamn TERMINATOR and he machine gunned down my health care. He TOOK AWAY Form 9000r california renters credit. Arnie took money AWAY from the people who needed it and from the projects that could have brought more money back INTO california and Jerry hit the nail on the head - These God Damned Coprs need to KEEP THE WORK IN CALIFORNIA.

  • Legalize weed, balance budget, toke up, and chill the fuck out CA.

  • continuing temporary taxes.. is not fixing the problem.. Brown.. you're a loser.. the 70's are over..

  • So Brown is willing to cut BILLIONS from the kids, elderly, poor, state parks, & colleges......but he's NOT willing to cut state workers pay, prison guards pay, or cut from the ILLEGAL ALIENS of this state??!!! Why you ask??? Because he's WHORED out to the unions and doesn't have his priorities straight!!!!!!

Brown is already a FAILURE in my book!!!!!!

  • Just sign Mark Leno's Single Payer health care bill SB810. This would cut the debt in half and create lots of jobs.

  • muzzy, your not offering any solutions. you are speaking of accountability, okay yes, the gov't, does need to take responsibility for extensive spending, but that isnt money. that is not a solution. Jerry Brown wasnt governor went Ca went a-rod. when enron came and gambled our electricity, provoking this major crisis we are in now. but as a whole, all citizens of CA, we need to bite the bullet & fix this. Because more then pointing blame, I want to help fix the state I live in.

  • just make marijuana legal

  • do you even know what a brown bag lunch looks like?

  • Democrats have solutions, Republicunts have tax cuts for the rich. God bless Governor Brown.

  • the easiest way for progression is back the people who really want to regrow our communities and STOP VOTING REPUBLICAN... Republican politicians are not conservatives.

  • Essentially, your furthering the reasons why I didn't vote for you. Thumbs up if you think Jerry Brown should get an education before he makes decision regarding our State budget.

  • @DualsOnly Hey, Hey, Hey, at least he's better than the stupid republican who's arnolds secret twin.

  • Thank you Governor Brown, for looking out for #1 State Resource -- our children. As a parent of 3 children in the public school system, I applaud what you are doing. We all need to make sacrifices to protect our schools. Keep up the good fight. You have the will of the people behind you.

  • @keithyang1 So Keith you are in favor of paying too much for teachers so we can loose proper staffing levels at schools. I am fed up with hearing teachers say we need to raise taxes "for the children." It's just BS propaganda. If the teachers gave a crap about the kids they would take a pay/benefits. The public employee pay structure is unsustainable.

I am fed up with hearing teachers say we need to raise taxes "for the children." It's just BS propaganda. If the teachers gave a crap about the kids they would take a pay/benefits CUTS.

  • Brown is agreeing to cuts in services for the poor, the disabled, college students, state parks and health care.... but from police, fire, prisons, teachers.. not a single penny cut.. not a penny.. draw your own conclusions...

  • let it fail governor.. there's no way out at his point.. everybody's dug in.. just let it collapse.. I'm sure you can make some political hay out of that..

  • Funny how right wing Christians always change their minds about taking the Bible literally. What happened to "Render unto Caesar? " or "Sell all you own, give the money to the Poor...?" Was Jesus just kidding?

  • Funny how right wing Christians always change their minds about taking the Bible literally. What happened to "Render unto Caesar? " or "Sell all you own, give the money to the Poor...?"

  • your failing governor.. only 3 months after you started.. what a mess you are creating.. time to DEAL with the unions.. eh?

  • You morons fail to see how CA businesses CANNOT compete with online vendors because they have to charge 8%, 9% and even 10% sales tax. PEOPLE WILL NOT BUY FROM CA BUSINESSES BECAUSE OF THIS. You then continue to lose tax revenue, so what do you suggest? MAKING THE SALES TAX EVEN HIGHER OR EXTENDING IT. WTF? CA needs to elect Captain Obvious to run the state because nobody there is sharp enough to stop the bleeding. Get real and get a clue. Fix the problem, DON'T MAKE IT WORSE.

  • The idiot liberal democrats in the legislature have FAILED to manage things properly. WHY are they still being paid? In the real world, if you don't perform at your job, you are FIRED. If you don't perform in politics, you have a meeting to discuss it. You people are OUT OF TOUCH and INCOMPETENT. STOP GIVING AWAY MONEY. STOP THE SPENDING. You people are INSANE. The state is crumbling and you break off talks??? STOP living beyond the means of the people. Why can't you understand that???

  • @Muzzy337 haha, did you fit enough adjectives for incompetent in there? Did your party look in a mirror when they led California for 30 years into this mess? There has been only one Democratic Gov in California since Jerry Brown, Gray Davis. You idiots recalled him and ruined the state more. Funny that it takes Jerry Brown to cap the era of idiocy that was Reagan Country California. GOOD RIDDANCE!

Heavy on fantasy, light on facts.

  • @Depsypher The dems have dominated the legislature for far too long. Is it any wonder why the state bleeds money because the libtards want to save the world? Fuck the illegals and fuck the unions. When the fuck are you morons going to realize CA can't afford this bullshit? IT FUCKING COSTS TOO MUCH. Duh. And this mess is NOT the fault of one party- it's a BROKEN SYSTEM. You can't make chicken salad out of chicken shit. The state is a monumental FAILURE and should start over from scratch.

  • @Muzzy337 You had Veto power. NO LONGER! You idiots ruined this state with Prop 13 and your "tax revolt" that gave hand outs to the rich and rewarded the big property owners more than anyone. Like always, you took a real problem and convinced the people the only solution was to cut taxes for the rich.

What resulted was California schools falling from first to near last.

YOU cut revenue. YOU are the problem. Let the rich payl They benefit the most from this American system. Let them pay back!

  • @Depsypher Partisan hacks like yourself ensure that CA will NEVER get fixed. You see it as strictly a party issue, when the truth is it's a competence issue. The stupid motherfuckers in charge have run the state into the ground. Duh. The revenue side does not know what the expenditure side is doing. This is the most fucked up way to run things. Croneyism and special interests are the parasites that will feed upon the host until it dies. Jerry doesn't have the balls to tell people to fuck off.

  • @Depsypher Very few people are capable of looking past the budget deficit and seeing the REAL problem. It's HOW the budget mess happened that REALLY needs to be addressed. The current red ink is just a sypmtom of a much LARGER issue- California will NEVER get its house in order unless state income matches expenses with some left over as a prudent reserve. Look at how companies are FLEEING. This state is a horror show for businesses. It's probably the least friendly state in the nation.

  • @Muzzy337 Prop 13 is the cause. It took Jerry Browns $6 Billion surplus and cut it by 2/3rds. I agree with lowering taxes on the middle-class, but the bulk of CA's lost funds went to the rich, and the middle-class got stuck with a failing system. This is what Republicans want, to let the services die on the vine, like education, Social Security, Medicare, Medicade and only pay for the military. Like North Korea.

When will people like you get it that investing in your country is good economics.

  • @Depsypher Take your head out of your ass and realize it's not only a party problem- politicians lie to the people. They're incompetent and unaffected by their inability to manage things PROPERLY. That's the core issure- NONE of these bozos can manage the affairs of the people with any decent results. They get paid whether they produce or not. They have NO skin in the game. Put them on a commission style pay plan where they have to PRODUCE something in order to eat. THEN things will change.

  • @Muzzy337 I guess you got your head all the way through and you think you can see correctly. You think it's about management now huh? You guys came to Washington to storm the place, failed and now it's a shared responsibility. Typical.

No, this country has been dragged into the right-wing ditches by morons like you and it's time that we rescue our lady liberty from drowning in the 2 inches of water you connies cry about.

Raise taxes on the rich! Let them pay their fair share. Problem solved.

  • CA has a balanced budget law. You've broken off talks to fix things. That's NOT why you got elected. DO YOUR JOB. Things will NEVER get better if you don't do your job. If you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got. CA is drunk with spending. You FAIL at being business friendly, you bleed money like no tomorrow, and nobody is held accountable for the mess. CA is a massive FAILURE that needs a new constitution. You can't make chicken salad out of chicken bones. Stop failing.

  • Face it, Jerry. CA is BROKEN. If someone gave you $25 billion tomorrow, the state would be back in deep debt by the weekend. You offer NO plan to fix WHY things got broken in the first place. You want the people to pay for the screw ups of those running the state??? Bring back accountability. STOP spending beyond the means of the people and there's a chance CA can be saved. Otherwise, declare bankruptcy and get it over with already. CA is a gigantic disgrace and a major embarrassment.

  • PRESIDENT CRISTINA GRAPPO (D-CA) ADMIRES GOVERNOR BROWN'S NEW VISIBLE BUDGET W/PRESIDENT CRISTINA GRAPPO'S NAMESAKE SIGNATURE INC. PENSION!

  • California currently has the highest sales tax at 8.25%. Tenn is 7%.

  • @SixStringArtThing In Los Angeles we pay 8.75%. No wonder people opt to make internet purchases.

  • @hdtvcamera1 oops 9.75%

  • There sure are alot of PAID Brown bloggers on here. Lots of fires to put out, I guess.

  • I phoned Tom McClintock's office (again...he just answers with NO). I told him "how dare you take away my voice?"

    He doesn't give a flyin' f..k

  • @suzys11 It's a waste of time anyway. The voices of this state were already heard 2 years ago with Prop 1a which LOST by a 30% margin....35% - 65%. There's no way in hell Jerry is going to be able to swing 30% of the electorate especially when every poll shows that the majority of Californians are against higher taxes, no matter what political ideology they have.

  • What you will get for paying an extra 1,000-1,500 in state taxes each of the next 5 years? I look around L.A. and I see freeways that don't work, schools with a 50% + failure rate, a parole system that fails to protect from known criminals, bankrupted hospitals and jails overrun with illegals, and red light cams everywhere. Is this worth more of your tax money?

  • @SixStringArtThing Your right on the money! Illegals is the greatest problems but that is the Feds fault and our laws which allow illegals to medicare, education, etc. One correction to your statement: Schools have at least 80% failure rate.

  • A few facts about California's current tax rates, folks:

California has already the highest sales tax (8.25), the highest gas tax (.46/gal), and the 3rd highest personal income tax (10.5). It is also the most populous state, so when the politicians/ whores tell you we have a revenue problem you know they are lying. The problem is they have spent WAY too much on union pensions, "education", and illegal aliens in this state over the past 4 decades.

  • @SixStringArtThing Correct again!

  • @SixStringArtThing - Actually your stats are a bit old. Here are the current stats, but you correct that we need to do better!

Tennessee pay the highest sales tax, California is #2, Arizona is #3. in 2011 according to Reuters.

Hawaii has the highest state income tax, #2 is Oregon, California is #3 in 2011 according to Forbes.

California has the highest gasoline tax in the U.S. 66.1cents per gallon as of January 2011according to API

New Jersey and New York pay the highest property taxes.

  • @bsatow still the fact is that this state gets ENOUGH revenue already and we are sick of being taxed to death!!!!

Time for this government to cut itself down to size!!!

The DemoCRAPs have spent toooooo much of our money!!!

  • the Union rep Brown .. wants more....

  • now I know why his last name is 'Brown'

  • Jerry,

    The Democrats made California:

#1 in Sales tax compared to other states,

    #1 in State Income tax,

    #2 in Gasoline tax,

#3 in Property tax and YOU and the Democrats want to RAISE TAXES?

Jerry, stop trying to kill jobs and prosperity in California.

    NO on raising taxes.

    Bring on the cuts Jerry.

Lets see you stand up to the unions if you can.

  • @jilpo6 - I'm not sure where you get your statistics from. Here are the corrections.

Tennessee pay the highest sales tax, California is #2, Arizona is #3. according to Reuters.

Hawaii has the highest state income tax, #2 is Oregon, California is #3 in 2011 according to Forbes.

California has the highest gasoline tax in the U.S. 66.1cents per gallon as of January 2011according to API

New Jersey and New York pay the highest property taxes.

  • @jilpo6 - Historically most of our tax increases were done by Reagan in 1967. The top income tax rate was raised from 7 percent to 10 percent, the sales tax rate went from 3 percent to 5 percent, the cigarette tax was increased from 3 cents to 10 cents per pack, the alcohol tax was raised from $1.50 to $2 per gallon, the bank and corporate tax rate went up from 5.5 percent to 7 percent, and the inheritance tax rose from a range of 2 percent to 10 percent to a range of 3 percent to 15 percent.

  • @bsatow I'd LOVE to go back to all those rates....woudn't you??

  • Governor Brown, please do not go out of your way to placate the Republicans. WE voted for YOU because you are a Democrat. The Republicans are ruining our country and our state. Schwarznegger screwed everything up and now you have to fix it. Do what you have to do but try not to give in too much to the Repugnicants.

Please do NOT cut education, health, or welfare.

Please DO cut fat cat perks.

Put a LUXURY TAX on things like Mercedes, sailboats, jewelry, and other fat cat luxuries.

  • cutting the most vulnerable INSTEAD of dealing with union reform IS despicable Governor.

  • @Depsypher Hello, take a look around, we are not in the 70's. Prop. 13 passed (I voted against it, but spilt milk now) and we have more illeal immigrants that we can support. I'm all for a 10% flat tax on everyone, rich and poor alike...how about YOUR governor? Would he support that? Cut will have to be made and poor Jerry just doesn't have the brass bells of Walker in Wisconsin. Too bad.

  • Time manifests all motives. Its clear what the republican party stands for; they may win the battle (pyrric), but still lose the war.

  • Time manifest

  • Sounds great Jerry!

  • Typical Dems repeatedly claim.. End corporate favoritism. I say end Public Union favoritism. Public Unions drain revenue from the General funds. Most Corporation constantly donate to local schools, communities, and multiple charities. Ever hear of a Union giving back to the Community?. Corporate funds don't deprive funds from the system. Dems want these taxes because Corporations won't give in to a Union take over. If we are to tax Corporations, then tax Unions. Unions don't create jobs.

  • This is a prime example of how the DemoCRAPs are the PARTY OF NO, and the OSTRUCTIONISTS!!!!!!

Brown and the DemoCRAPs said NO to a REAL state spending cap!!

Brown and the DemoCRAPs said NO to REAL pension reform for the state workers which is what halted talks!!!!

They said no because they are whored out to the unions whp give big money for their campaigns. Example, they gace Jerry $20 MILLION for his run against Meg and now he must suck up to them!!

DemoCRAPs = The party of NO!!!

  • If I hear that word "Coalition" one more time, im gonna puke.

  • corporations are already avoiding taxes by going overseas

  • I like voting. I like seeing the Governor speaking his mind. He's right. The Republicans stifle debate and frustrate the process in order to maintain power. Keep services, pay for them and stop being so selfish.

  • God help California! He is as clueless as Arnie. He's going to use ideas from the 70's to solve the problems of 2011? We haven't got a chance of coming out of this one. Meg warned that he would be in bed with all the unions that got him elected and so he can't mess with the prisons or the state workers. He can't mention welfare or immigration because he counts on their support. Tax big business and they'll either pass it on to the consumer or pass on outta state. Duh! The masses are asses!

  • @mobile49 I hate to break it to you, though Jerry was one of the first people who talked of fiscal discipline and though he hated giving up the revenue, since it turned his surplus into a deficit, (F prop 13), LOL, ideas from the 70s are a welcome change to the idiots in Sac town and DC.

TAX THE RICH. Studies show they don't even pay taxes now, yet they cry about taxes. I guess they took those lame Ayn Rand books to heart.

If they loved their state, they'd put their $ where their mouth is.

  • @mobile49 Very well put!!!! BTW, don't let these dumbass libs try to tell you that the Rep's are going into extinction. If they would bother to look it up, they would find that they are losing people from the DemoCRAPtic party as well. The fastest growing political regristry in this state is the "Decline to state". Which essentially means that BOTH parties are failing!!!!

  • Career prostitician Old "Dirty" Jerry brown.

1:12 "The problem has taken a decade to buid up" No Dirty Jerry the problem goes far back to your Daddy Pat brown. Jerry, How about discuss the Dill Act you signed allowing Employee Pension increases in secrecy without public media attention.

Jerry refuses to endorse Legislation to prohibit illegal immigrants from receiving a break on college tuition fees.

Listen hear Dirty Jerry I am a native and I WANT a tuition fee break.

    RECALL JERRY!

  • @guitarfreakstyle2 Your lot had their chance. You did your little recall and had the Terminator to boot.

Hate to break it to ya... it's over.

The GOP is finished in California and soon to be finished in a state near you. You guys ruined the golden state and the country, what do you want to ruin next? The world?

    Sorry pal, you guys

  • @guitarfreakstyle2 , continued from above: you guys lost. You ran the state into the ground and the state hates you. California WAS the birthplace of prop 13, Reaganism and culture wars. Yet in the end, you lost the jewel in the crown and soon, you'll lose Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida and eventually, Texas. I hate to break it to you, though Gov. Wilson gave your lot an example of disaster.

So good luck to you guys and your pointless mission to enrich the rich.

  • @Depsypher Nice try there pal!! But let's not forget that this state has been run by a DemoCRAPtic Legislature for the last 20+ years, and look what its gotten us!!! $26 BILLION in debt!!!! It's painfully obvious that the DemoCRAPs cannot live within their means!! But yet, you fools keep electing these morons into office!!! BTW, the DemoCRAPs are losing support also!!! The fastest growing political registry is now "Decline to State". A welfare state is simply unsustainable, thx DemoCRAPs!

  • @nextdrink45 Cont'd....

The last election nationwide is an example of how the rest of the country "gets it", but yet the ppl of this state don't!! Reps took over the house, as well as most governorships!!

So don't get on this high and mighty kick, as you ppl will soon learn, if you haven't already, that the DemoCRAPtic way of taxing high just to give free shit away is completely UNSUSTAINABLE!!!!!

So good luck to you guys and you unsustainable way of trying to coddle everyone!!!

  • @Depsypher There we go again with the prop 13 bullshit rhetoric. The sate was a;ready in debt 6 years before Prop 13 even came to be drafted. I doubt you were even born yet. Jerry brought on 11% unemployment before the end of his 1st term. Jerry signed the Dill Act in the middle of a California recession causing a major uproar. Jerry wanted property taxes to me based annual appraisals.

Liberals lost ground after FDR almost completely bankrupted America. California will be Retaken

  • @Depsypher Don't think so. Take a good look at California's District lines. The Democrats garrymandered the district lines for the last 3 census reports in their favor and that is about to come to a screaming halt. By 2012 the Dems will lose about 13 districts causing a revived Conservative stronghold. The Blue kool-aid area are San Fran and Los Angeles. The rest of California is strictly Red. Brown won't last a re election. His appeasing to the Illegals for votes won't make it.

  • california is a stronghold of liberalism. no wonder it is at its current state. the state cannot even support itself lol.

  • The Rent is Too Damn High.

  • Who voted for this cry baby? He doesn't get his way so he throws a fit and says if they won't play by my rules I won't play! Do your job and quit acting like a baby. Stop filming your mutt we don't pay you for that!

  • Governor.. extending those tax increases IS kicking the can down the road.. and..you know it..

  • Excuse! We all know why douche bag, your union buddies own your ass. Put the teachers in the prisons with the other criminals!

  • GOP hates voters

  • @dionusos2 What an ignorant thing to say. You just proved your irrelevance. Congrats sir.

  • My way is better Vesely1a @netscape.net. Are you a teacher?

  • In a government "for and by the people", Corporations are not people, and certainly DO NOT deserve preferential treatment from any tax authority. OR - perhaps we should all simply use Net Worth (or WEALTH) as the tax base. We are now seeing how an increasing rich/poor gap can help take down former powers.

Jerry, please consider this rather radical way to avoid class conflict - thanks,

  • Good. I'm not supporting your ridiculous taxes as long as you are still wearing the shiny new leash and collar that the public unions bought for you.

  • Govenor Brown. The last time you were govenor you instituted " Employee Unions" Apologize to your constituents for your mistake and break these unions up and benefits the same as the private industry for comparable positions. CA. government is too big. You actually need about a 1/4 or less than your running now.

2nd make the legisltors a part time position with zero retirement benefits.

3rd, Offer rewards for the arrest, conviction and deportation of of Illegal aliens of all colors.

  • @jwtcali You are irrelevant. Their are more illegals in this state than you so STFU! What we need is a reversal of the awful 40 years of Republican ideas that started under Reagan. Time for change.

Vote Left! For the Right has forsaken you!

  • When you have State workers retired at age 40 with 25 years worth of pension after working 20 years.....and 35 more years to collect that pension or retired at age 35 with 20 years of pension to collect for 40 years......too bad Californians can't do simple math.

California, nice place to visit and visit only. Loving Nevada, already undercut 2 California competitors and had to hire 2 more Nevadians to cover the increase production.

  • Whatever Jerry does to California is fine with me.....I've already moved my business to Nevada and it's 9 jobs.

Raise taxes Jerry, Jerry, Jerry !!! I'm going to love it when California crushes down on all my competitors.

  • I wonder where we'd be heading under a Republican Governor? I sense better government under Jerry Brown than a Republican increasing the income gap between Republicans (PERHAPS WE SHOULD LOOK AT WEALTH GAPS, not income gaps!)

    Thank you Jerry,

    veselyaj@netscape.net

  • State workers can take 10% less, Restructure the retirment plans,Ship prisoners out of state,Remove the Ilegal Alians, We allready voted down TAXes,And you ran on a Ballance the budgit LIE, We have the HIGHEST TAXES in the country-NO NEW TAXES or tax extentions, Its about MATH- WE ARE BROKE=NO MONEY Take less or Unemployment for all is comming....SIEUs greed and control will send us all down the drain.....Thanks Jerry....what no reach around?

  • Thank you Jerry. Keep at it!

  • Thank you! It's great to have a Governor that does more than just act as Governor! What can We do to help?

  • @stynqueone What you can do is send Brown your money when the taxes go down starting July 1st.

  • @nextdrink45 Don't be an ass, if you have nothinbg but crap coming out of your mouth, don't say anything. Go hunt something into extinction-like your mentality.

  • @stynqueone Oh really??? Well you're the one that is asking Jerry what you can do to help. I'm just suggesting that you send him a check every month when the taxes go down starting July 1st. You seem to be in love with Jerry so that's how you can help.

  • Thank you! It's great to have a Governor that does more than just act as Governor!

  • Thank you Jerry! I'm so sick of seeing the middle class pay for breaks for corporations and the rich. We pay, not only in our taxes that WE pay (and they don't), but in the services that our state can no longer afford to provide. Cutting back on health care for the poor, education for our children, and care for our disabled (IHSS) will definitely cost us MORE money in the next few years, and immediately in some cases. Stand strong against those bastards, Jerry!

  • Sure & of course, the consumer will pay a little more per item when the corporation is taxed. But, getting the taxes in one lump sum is better business for the government. The REAL reason behind the corporate fight against taxes is that is money the executives want to divvy up as 'bonuses' and stock returns. Can you say greedy bastards? I can

  • @TheSchmuckLook - Actually, I don't believe the consumer will pay anymore for consumer items if there is an increase in corporate taxes, it would be insignificant. It would affect salaries within the corporations and benefits, and perks, e.g. buying a new Lear jet every year, giving $250,000 Christmas bonuses, before any price increase would be applied to consumer goods.

  • I am so encouraged that you are our Governor. We really do need to raise taxes. I am a strong Democrat but I see the writing on the wall. If we truly love this state and want to save it, we have to put our efforts into making it happen. I am so tired of the Republican inertia driving this disaster. They are afraid that if we vote, they will lose their basis for doing nothing. Keep it up Jerry!

  • @matassn Are you really encouraged that he's our governor??? Do you really think this state needs to raise our taxes???

Well then I'll tell you what, everytime you get a check, just cut Brown a personal check of yours and send him your money.

I on the other hand will be enjoying the fact that I will see more of my money come July 1st and will spend it how I choose.....NOT our disfuctional governmnent!!!

  • Man, talk about a pissed off man. I was expecting an F-Bomb or a GD. Well keep up the work Jerry. We voted you in and if we get tired of you, we'll vote you out. As for the Rethuglicants... Well, partisan politics is becoming irrelevant.

  • I will concede that last time he was Governor , Jerry ended with a surplus to the budget.

But this is 2011 and things are much different from when I was a kid and he was in it.

Illegal Immigration...the elephant in the room, that if they decide to tackle, could make both sides of this debate happy.

And they're NOT EVEN CITIZENS. We owe them nothing. BILLIONS of dollars for them and their families. Drug violence, gang violence, sucking out of our services?

    We can't sustain it.

  • When everyone has MORE money in their checks to buy something like a dinner for the wife or GF, or clothes for the kids come mid-July.......you have the Republicans to thank!!!!! Instead of YOUR money going into the blackhole that is the state government, it's actually going into YOUR pocket to do with what you choose!!!

I'm sending my thank you card to the Republicans later today and you should do the same!

  • read a book kid...

  • Thanks, Gov. Brown, for this honest, direct communication with us. Your hard work is truly appreciated.

  • am radio is worse than watching paint dry on a rainy day in shorts.

  • @ragin40 versus what?? Watching MSNBC, listening to NPR, Air America, or any other left wing lunatic production is better??

The ONLY thing good about left wing lunatic outlets, is the quality laughter I get from them!! They are sooooo far out of their minds, it's funny to me!

At least the show I referenced tells you how it is in REAL LIFE!!!!

You should listen and maybe, juts maybe you'd learn a thing or two, but that's doubtful.

  • Hey Jerry....how about cutting of services to the ILLEGAL ALIENS of this state?? That alone equals $20 BILLION!!! Then along with you supposed $14 BILLION in cuts, we'd have a $8 BILLION surplus!!!!!

Then trim down the public workers pay and save that money!!! Then reduce the business tax and enviro regs to actually attract businesses to this state and actually make this state "business friendly". It's simple really!!!!

  • @nextdrink45 \

Nobody in the State legislature will talk about the effects of Illegal Immigration on our State. Not even the Repubs anymore. it's 'taboo', yet the ramifications are HUGE. Both sides could go after the Elephant in the room, but they choose to either take it out of American citizens pockets by taxes, or cut programs.

They're BULLSHITTING California and they know it.

  • @RandomShellAccount I know that, and you know that, but these dumbass liberal/DemoCRAPtic/Progressives refuse to acknowledge it! The ILLEGAL ALIENS of this state cost us the taxpayers a well reported $20 BILLION per year....EVERY YEAR!!!! Now tell me honestly.....how in the hell is that sustainable??!!!

But this whole mess is a prime example of what happens to a state when it's run by one party for too long!! The DemoCRAPs have been in control for over 20 years.....and look what's happened!!

  • Do you dumbass libs realize that this state is mandated to spend 40% of its general fund on K-12 education, yet 80% of that strictly goes to the pay, HC, and pensions of it staff??? That means that a mere 20% of that 40% actually makes it to the classroom!!!! THAT'S WRONG!!!!!!!

If the teachers and admins REALLY cared about the "children", they would take their small pay cut realizing that the state is BROKE and continue teaching!!!! But NOOOOO, they are too GREEDY with OUR money!!!!!

  • @nextdrink45 I wonder what they do with that 20% of that 40%? When I look at public schools, they all have new furniture, computers, paper, books, etc. Not sure where that money is going...

  • @bsatow You are BLIND my friend. The teachers are crying ALL THE TIME that they don't have enough papers, pens, pencils, and other essentials when it comes to teaching thier classes. That's why they have to ask the parents to help out.

  • @nextdrink45 - Local property taxes goes to local schools. So if you live in Beverly Hills, your school is great and the teachers well paid. But if you live in Watts, your school is decrepit and teachers poorly paid. Those property taxes are paid by the property owners who live in Beverly Hills. So, is the state responsible for giving money to school districts like in Watts so all kids get an equal education?

  • @bsatow The state already gives 40% of its general fund to the districts throughout the state. Refer to my previous post.

The FACT of the matter is that if the GREEDY teachers and admins took a cut in pay, and contributed to their own HC, then the districts and schools throughout the state would have MORE money to teach with. But the FACT that they are GREEDY thanks to Grey Davis who signed onto the LARGEST pay, pension, and HC increase back in '99, now they don't want to budge!!

  • Now if the OBSTRUCTIONISTS DemoCRAPs and the whored out Governor are able to get this on the ballot in November....it really will be a TAX INCREASE!!!!! Good luck trying to get the public sold on that!!!

Looks as if it's nothing but an ALL CUTS budget, which is exactly what this state needs!!!

  • You ALL ned to thank the Republicans for getting more of YOUR money back in YOUR pocket as of July 1st!!! The state sales tax is going back DOWN!!! The state car tax is going back DOWN!!! And the child dependency credit is going back UP to $300 per kid!!!!

So you see folks, the Rep. are doing a GOOD THING buy fighting this TAX INCREASE!!! Besides, the people of this state have ALREADY spoken on extending taxes with a big fat NO!!!

Now if the OBSTRUCTIONISTS DemoCRAPs would just agree!!!!

  • Hey Sacramento,

Take a math class.....The current public employee pensions are unsustainable!!!!

California is losing business every day. The earners are leaving the state because of the current tax situation and over regulation. Raising taxes is putting your foot down harder on the neck of the Golden goose.

  • @hdtvcamera1 -That's a half truth. The Public employee fund were invested into the Stock market and when it crashed, it lost a lot of money. The stock market is rising again. At the current rate, in 5 to 10 years the fund will payoff any loans for current employee pensions as well as providing tax breaks to the middle class as was done in prior decades, many times.

  • @bsatow Absurd...more state worker talking points.

The maturity of Liberals = You have what I want. I didn't do the work or take the risk to earn it, but I want it. It's not fair. Give it to me, now, now, now!!! Picture a child lying face dow,n pounding their fists on the floor.

  • @hdtvcamera1 - It's difficult to argue against the truth. You should do some research and actually READ about how state pensions are run. Pensions are earned, not given. The stock market crash drained the pension fund In 5 to 10 years it will recover.

  • Hey Jerry,

Care to state or post exact figures on how California's public school system is inundated with children of Illegal Immigrants, sucking the LIFE out of California's schools?

Have you seen the stats on the percentage of these children that take class seats, get vouchers, school assistance, food, etc?

Care to talk about it? It takes BILLIONS of dollars. But you're willing to cut services from AMERICANS to remain "politically correct"..

Huh Jerry? Elephant in the room, ignore as usual

  • @RandomShellAccount Random...your 100% correct, I do have all the statistics regarding illegal immigrants and I have commented on it in here. Get this, CA is the state spending more money and does less because of the illegal immigrants; however, the one to blame is the Fed Government as they cannot stop that immigration. Till that stops education, health care, and other expending will suffer big time. CA should sue the Feds for not doing their job.

  • I got your back Jerry!

I know the republicans want to do everything they can to prevent a single tax on their rich friends, and Prop 13 stands in the way, yet I am against wealthy land owners profiting from the many.

Please continue to stand up to the corrupt forces that are ruining our politics!!!!

  • From what I see, Every poll shows support for the Governor's plan, how funny it is that a tiny group of corrupt businessmen can call some attention to the stall.

Well let me tell you, Meg wannabes, California represents a huge chunk of the US economy and stands on its own in the top 10, yet you try to sell us as a bad place for business.

I'm thinking that anti-union BS means nothing and opportunity is what you are thinking. Maybe it's time to stop being greedy and think about YOUR state!

  • @Depsypher

I support Unions, too bad the public ones here are part of the huge equation.

And California is voted one of THE worst places for business. Maybe you don't understand that small business is what makes America run? Or you hate business owners? Want them all to move out so California can be a huge Government employee wasteland?

And you talk about GREED? How dare you. Look at the public Unions for that shit. they are only about themselves, and their fellow worker drones.

    Not us.

  • @RandomShellAccount You talk of greed and you blame it on unions? How dare YOU? The real greed in this state is in the wealthy, listen to Warren Buffet in a SFGATE article titled "Buffett's Prop. 13 comments cause stir".

How dare you blame teachers like my sister, policemen like my friends and fireman like my family for the problems when rich people pay less taxes in California.

    And you talk about GREED!

8 years of Bush and YOUR philosophy SHRUNK the middle class!!!

    NEXT!!!

  • @Depsypher

BUSH? You fucking imbecile, I railed against Bush since he got in office. And I'm not a Republican DIPSHIT.

And you have no clue how the Public pensions are gutting the budget. Firemen, policemen, teachers...blah blah blah.

A whole State filled with PUBLIC WORKERS? Is that what you want?
