wierd why you can't change the desktop cause even when your browsing and right klick on a picture there's set as background

@christinefahy Ridiculous = Windows 7 Starter. That's the limitation that Microsoft put in place. There are some hacks out there to change it, but you can't using just the OS. :-(

@sobrinos760 If you bought the Linux version, you'll need to purchase a license for Windows. As in, go out to a store and buy it. :-)

@alyssa4591 I'm also getting this, the cons are most probably the Windows 7 Starter, The "have-to-get-used-to" mousepad, and it might be a bit slow depending on ur internet. Pros: Good battery life, Good speed (for me), and i think it looks amazing. It's really a beautiful design for netbook.

@h1ll37 Right now, I run everything exclusively on Windows. I just got the Mac Mini a couple of weeks ago; right now I have no clue what to do with it. It's more like a curiosity than anything else. ;-)

@gotbarstv I guess it depends where it's coming from, how often it happens, etc. Hearing a slight "scratching" noise is normal; that's the hard drive. I've never heard birds in a netbook before tough. ;-)

It's ridiculous to can't change the wallpaper... but it was a software for it : Windows 7 Starter Background Changer 0.7 :) (sorry for my poorly english, I am French.)

Is windows xp still an option on these netbooks? I have really old desktop computer that I installed win 7 on and the processor rates a 2.5 and video a 2.9 gaming and 3.0 aero but it runs much slower than a netbook with a 2.3 and I cannot watch any sort of youtube on the computer without it lagging even in standard def 360p. Does the dell mini 10 play youtube smoothly? This whole windows score system has me baffled since a 2.3 netbook is way faster than my aging 2.5 rated desktop.

Yes, you can use the Windows Anytime Upgrade - though I'm not sure if it requires a CD/DVD, I haven't done it before. :-)

not many people review the inspron 13 on youtube or laptop/notebook sites, since it is $399 to start with. But anyway netbook is my last choice for a cheap travel computer. I rather buy those ones that has all you want besides the cd/dvd drives and a hundred bucks more than the netbooks, at least they come in a 13-14 inch sizes.

Another nice review. I would be willing to bet that the dock application was eating up your boot time as well as MccAfee. I'd put a light weight antivirus on it like the Microsoft security suite which is now a free option, and though it's not perfect - it doesn't really cause any lag.

Yeah, it could be. The netbook just feels really SLOW though. Dell needs to optimize better for the hardware; keep things light and fast.
