cataphracts are the best killers actually.....i kill over 1 million units per wave with them....

you just have to understand how to set up for them to attack and they will never die....

cata are awesome. get your production right and you can make them faster than ww2 russia made t-34 tanks. Get your layers right using cata, cav and scouts and you can do serious damage to a city.

 Archers are rubbish ET, they are just cheap and decent defence. cata all the way

I saw a report of someone who beat a guy with over 550K archers in his city usung a Cataphracts-Rainbow attack. So the "armour horses suck" is obviously from a noob. anyone with a clue knows Cataphracts own archers. You plan on fighting anyone with a large number of archers in their city and you think you can do it with 125K archers...you'll be rethinking the "Armour Horses Suck" comment.

U can send a max of 125K of anything, so what will do more damage? !25K Archers or 125K Cataphract? No comp. so much for "Archers are better..." 125K Cata.'s on an enemies city loaded with a few hundred Thou. Archers - Catas win. 125 archers loose, cavs loose, etc. If u planon playing with the big boys, Archers are only going to get u so far.

have you seen the attack that killed 1M archers? It was 70k phracts and 30k cav (maybe layered with scouts) so please don;t say they're useless

-cont'd- A good rule of thumb is to have one army for attack, one to reinforce (within alliance) and one to defend you. Phract and sword a my personal fav for the later. I can send phract out if I want for a quick burst but mostly I keep them home.

This was such a waste. Please, if you haven't discovered the usefulness of a training group, don't do a tutorial saying there isn't one. You don't send phract with anything else (except maybe one as part of a rainbow). Phract are fast and strong. They are used the same way cav are, for quick plunders as well has to make a strong hit with smaller numbers than needed for cav. More, they along with swords men are great for defense, just remember to open your gate.

@seraphlaim actualy the best phract waves are sent with cav and scouts.

E.G 65k phract 25k cav 10k scouts.

Can take out up to 2 million archers in 1 hit

lol anyone who says cataphracts suck doesnt know how to use them. like jmwatt says, if you take out the opponent's meat first so that the phracts have nothing in their way to get to the archers, 90k+ phracts layered with scouts and cavs can easily kill over 300k archers.

when you have been playing for a while cataphracts are devestating when used in big waves dont listen to anyone who plays on a world server ask a vet from one of the first 5 servers

I just started playing. What exactly are cataphracts good against? And in what ratio?  How're they against abatis' and traps?

i have been playing for a long time but cataphracts are very good if used in large numbers such as 90k waves will take out a city easily trick is to send an advance wave of archers and 1 of each other troop type first to kill the "meat" in the city even if they are left with 200k archers after the first wave the cataphracts will destroy everything
