ALL GTO's came with posi rear ends... my dads z28 has a auburn posi with 3:23 rear end and does the same thing if you get really hard like that. unless you have a full locker or SPOOL this is posible. what everyone doesn't understand is when you have a posi it doesn't automatically keep the wheels locked all the time it has to allow some give in the differential as you saw in this video. watch some of these videos online you will see

Looks like he needs some friction modifier in the differential oil (75/140w) and the rear brakes don't sound so hot either. He's probably pulling the emergency brake and take it from me . . . that ain't good.

GTO's werent made with open diffs. Old fluid or low fliud could have fried his clutch plates resulting in the lower traction. Change your fluid or buy a Kaaz LSD. Otherwise you have a nice car. Keep it up.
