I love the two note tenor sax intro. So simple but it sets the mood perfectly. The sax and guitar shuffle seem to gently encourage Joe Jones soulful lead. His short beautiful falsetto at 1:41 ups the ante. The pause between "for....everrrrrrr", and on and on. This tune is so well crafted, great feel.
@GATAMONAE gotta disagree with ya on that one...the music of today is noooooooo where close to this and millions of other timeless classics! no disrespect
@MiGrandeCazzo : First of all, that's the funniest username ever! And then, I can assure that if you dig enough, you'll find out that today's music is probably the best and the most diverse of all time. But of course, you won't find it in the charts.
Forget 67,Im an Old lady just turned 70 and I Play All These Oldies Every Night,I Luv It and All The Memories That Go With It. Thanks , Makes Me Feel Like A Teenager Again ! My Love Bird Baby Sings Along,She Also Loves The Oldies !
i can't believe i'm now an old man of 67 as it seems like only yesterday that this enchanting music, now known as doo-wop was actually playing on my radio, as well as my record player. i feel fortunate to have lived at a time when this music was popular. i feel sorry for today's young people with nothing but souless commercial crap to listen to. let's keep the old music alive.
I played this song over and over on the 45 I had...I never put the arm over on the record player when I put this on.. it went non-stop when I got ready for school.
Thanks tonywsmith2, the Pentagons in my opinion had a very unique sound. I am a true lover of Doo-Wop and have an extensive collection. Once again I say that I wish the Pentagons recorded more songs, they're music will live forever. God Bless.
This is probably the most underrated songs ever, and my favorite. The Pentagons were one of the best Doo-Wop groups that I ever heard. I have thier CD, I only wish they recorded more songs. Do-Wops forever.
I'm only writing to tell you that in all respects, cosneg1149, you're absolulely right.
Great though underrated song. Helluva singer. Not overproduced (a few kinks in the bridge, but so what---this is performance, in an age when pro-tools had yet to be foisted, unnecessarily. on the ears of the tone deaf)----your chronological
It was February 1961 and I was a Freshman attending every dance that Sterling High School had. This song was one of the few songs that could voluntarily get me out to dance. A time when guys and girls slow danced together. The lyrics of this song says it all and for a teenager it was a moment in time that last forever!
No wonder we as kids of 12 to 18 loved ALL of the songs by most ALL of these wonderful performers of this fabulous DooWop Era... They created the BEST music we would hear during our lifetime...
The Pentagons was a great group that never got the credit that they deserved. Great harmony and what a super lead voice. They are still one of my favorite groups of all time.
S.S.D.W. I had this song in a playlist on Myspace, but when I left Mysace, I didn't even think about putting this in my favorites, and where they are under a dofferent name, I couldn't remember this name. And I found them on here. "To be loved" is one of my favorite "tunes" Thanks for posting.
Formed c.1959 in Bakersfield, California, USA. The Paradons were a vocal group which scored one US Top 20 hit in 1960 and was never heard from again. The group comprised lead singer West Tyler plus Billy Myers, William Powers and Chuck Weldon, all students at the same high school.
iam married to ted goodloe, he and joe jones are the remaining 'pentagons. we are so happy'to be loved' is still remembered. joe is in sanbernardino and we reside in oceanside ca
I don't remember ever hearing this song back in the day, but a friend turned me on to a cover version by Kenny Vance and I fell in love with the song. Thanks for posting the original.

Please do you have any information
on where these gentleman are today?
Thank-you in advance.

The only one left is the lead singer Joe Jones. They were out of California.

Mr. Bob,
Thank-you for your reply.
I saw Joe Jones on PBS a few years ago,
just a snippet, he can still sing.
Please tell me if you can, Bertha Tillman,
"Oh my angel" she is best known for that
song, she is from California, do you know if she is still singing? Thank-you for your time.
