Mmm, preaching abstinence is never as effective as educating youth regarding safer sex methods, ex. condoms. Yes, of course abstinence is the ONLY safe sex, but let's be real here, people/kids are going to have sex, so we may as well educate them on how to protect themselves.

How educated are you in condoms? They do not protect as you might think. Besides why would you want to wrap your legs around just any fool. Educate them on protection? Might as well educate them on how to take care of a family since they most likely will get pregnant & when they catch a disease. Don't forget to educate them on how noneffective the condom REALLY is. Abstaining from sex can happen & lots of girls still do it today, they have RESPECT for themselves & their future mate.

I am VERY educated in condom usage/STD prevention. Yes, it is true, they do not protect you against MOST forms of STDs (esp. those that only require skin-to-skin contact) but they are still HIGHLY effective in preventing the major events (HIV, pregnancy). When used correctly and consistently, condoms save lives. Period.

Being for sex education doesn't mean I want everyone and their mother to spread their legs around town.....obviously children should be taught about self respect and all that but saying 'don't have sex' won't help them...I'm just realistic.

You can contract an STD with just ONE partner. This has nothing to do with promiscuity. Most of the HIV + people I know where in monogamous relationships when they contracted the virus. It was not their fault that their partner strayed. Most people are far more careful when having casual sex than when in a committed, comfortable relationship. At the end of the day, unfaithfulness can haunt the faithful's bed sheets just the same as the corner hooker's.

@suedefalcon It says that it is better for your seed to sit in the belly of a whore, than to fall to the earth. Not sure if I got the quote correct though. So the catholic faith interprets that as to only have sex as a pro-creation act. The use of any kind of birth control is a sin in their eyes.
