I hate all these American terms for things, sorry. They sound cheesy, like crap Hollywood film titles. Invincible Collars!!?? Sounds like Wall Street 3: Invincible Collars lol
the sweep/reversle was awsome , looked a tad lucky tho , but i dont know much about graplling :) but you could really see the guy trying hard to get the arm triangle
@poganla123 the rubber guard would involve him using a palm up grip, deep under his ankle. he went to the higher guard (NOT so he could then go to mission control -> new york -> chill dog, etc.) but probably because he was working a high guard (looking to isolate a shoulder to then go for an armbar or triangle). people play, and have played, high guard for ages and it really has nothing to do with "rubber guard". rubber guard is a high guard, but not all high guard is rubber guard
@KyleVass yh i kno braulio wasnt holding his ankle with a palm up grip like the good rubber guard players do and i know braulio wouldnt go for double baggers and invicible collars or dudas but he was holding his foot up there and that is still known as rubber guard to some people, but i do agree that what braulio did was not what i will call mission control myself thats why i said he was somewhat using the rubber guard. :)
Chris Lazzarini looked like he didn't know jiu jitsu when he got mounted. Kicking his legs up to trap the waist, pushing on Estima's chest with his arms, what the hell was that about? I'm sure the guy would destroy me, so save the comments about how he's great and I'm not, it's just hard to see a guy who makes it to ADCC with such bad form.
at first i thought the same thing but my guess would be that Braulio's mount is just so solid and intense that it made Chris resort to elementary moves out of desperation.
I agree, the guy would tool me too so i cant knock him, but that would be my guess
@ronhudsonjr yeah, i can see that happening, i know I mess up when a better guy has meand at this level of compyou just want to get out fast and increase points.
eddie bravo called the position London when he had it in his rubber guard system. But he took it out. There's no established name for the guard though call it whatever you like maybe it'll catch on. Brauilo can omoplata, triangle, or gogoplata and he would have to let go to get triangle or gogoplata. But ppl give away omoplata from there all the time by standind up which spins you into position. Just close your legs grab the wrist and leg then extend your legs and pull. Try the position n class.
What is the name of the guard Estima is using around the 1:48 mark. He is trapping the arm and wrapping his leg at the same time. I know he wants to lock his hands and push the head away with his elbow, but where does he go from there? He would have to let go to try and clear the arm for a triangle or omaplata. Any instruction out there for this position?
@mikecornille- Braulio is using a common variation of the Sean Williams Guard, which, incidentally, used to be a position in the 10th Planet system known as London which has since fallen into disuse. The SWG is good for those who want to play a high guard but don't quite have the flexibility in the knees or hips to play Rubber Guard. You can set up triangle, omoplata, kimura, numerous armbars, sweeps, etc. I have heard that Sean Williams will soon be releasing a DVD detailing the position

beautiful closed guard setup and sweep at 3:10.

@ercshaw Yes that was definitely a beautiful pendulum/flower sweep variation. One of my favorite sweeps of the entire 2007 ADCC event.
