  • wow, i'ts hard.... I trying but i can't...

hey, are you have orkut? I'm from brazil and plays drums too. i'm a teacher and i demonstraded to my students some stick tricks. these are very cool, but hard.

  • This one is the one i was looking for, thank you!

I love to know that there are great female drummers.

    Keep up the good work.

  • oh i see... its more clear now.. thanks for the explaining.. ur cute too btw

  • Nice nice :) I love girl drummers ;)

  • It would be a little more helpful and less confusing if you showed us the trick with your palm facing the camera! Good trick!

  • HAHAH msn

  • Iz dat sum Tommy Igoe poster behind you?

  • i L0ve you XD

  • It took me 25 minutes, but I *think* I have it...

    1 - Figure 8 w/ thumb

    2 - Move on to figure 8 w/ 2nd and 3rd fingers

3 - Figure 8 while passing through 3rd and 4th fingers (head of stick passing by the inside of your arm), ending with the "catch"

Is that right? Thanks for the vid.

  • esta buenisimo!

  • 1:17, msn sound xD

  • u r awesome thank u so much :D

  • Nicely done. Clearly and patiently explained and demonstrated.

    Thanks.

Anyone in need of further explanation has...errr..."challenging" spatial awareness problems. (No disrepect to these people, but from 0:59 onwards, it doesn't really need stop-motion photography to be perceptible to the human eye.)

  • Amazing! Thanks!

  • Okay i can't do the first part of it 100% corect i got no problem in spinning between 3 fingers but the thum gives me problem so i would be really glad if you'd post a video explaining the first part a bit better and also when you've done it first time and want to continue to second time 3'th time 4'th time and so on :) especaly filmed from you own point of viwe would be cool :)

  • ARGH! can do it once but then i screw it up and i also need a little practise at the first part with the rotation betewn you tum and.. ehm the next finger XD but anyway you've been very help fully so thx a lot and hope you'll be posting some more videos if you learn some new tricks :)

  • fuCK YEAH ther should be more girl drummers..

  • @SknyAssBgyPntsx shut up bitch

  • @CanadianHero789 you have a problem?

  • @SknyAssBgyPntsx Damn right! GUYS HIT HARDER THAN GIRL DUMBAS!!

  • @CanadianHero789 what the fuck does that have to do with anything? all im saying is chick drummers are sweet and ur bitching over nothing

  • @SknyAssBgyPntsx no im not! ur saying the girl drummers r better than guys, witch isnt true

NAME ME 3 GOOD GIRL DRUMMERS (famous plox)

  • i call first dibs!! xD

  • TheOrangeguy13....if you play drums at all, then you should know that that when it comes to sticks there is no right or wrong. it depends on what the drummer likes. how the stick feels in your hand

  • I still can't quite get it. What would be really helpfull is to do the same video but from the rear angle. You gave us the spectator view but to really learn it I need the performer view. Just a suggestion to make this as clear as possible.

  • i cant seem to figure out how to do the first part with the thumb

  • That is really helpful, you make that look so easy, thanks. :)

  • your fit

  • LBird, in the 16 years that I played, I have never known of this trick. It goes to show that no matter how long you played for, you can never stop learning. Thanks for uploading your vids.

  • I DID IT THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!

  • wow i got it on the first try, i usually suck at stick tricks

  • it took that video and my boyfriend to teach me how to do that. LOL =]

  • hahaha i was tryin to beat my friend in school with tricks and i used this as my finisher

  • holy shit thats one big stick lmao its either a 5B or bigger but my 5Bs do not look that big lmao i use joey jordison signinuters sticks now anyways... awesum covers but uhm this didnt really help but i just think im retarted :) anyways keep up the awesum job

  • Those Arent Set Sticks. They Are Marching Sticks And If Im Not Mistaken They Are Innovative Percussion. They're Bigger Cuz Set Sticks Arent Heavy Enough To Play Through The Head On A Marching Drum. Theres Really No Classification In Size Other Than Large Or X-Large Or If You Use Pro-Marks Or Ralph Hardimons Vs Ralphy Jrs

  • this took me 1 hr to get. i had to face away from the computer and watch over my shoulder. it would help alot if you made one from a side angle.

  • msn!

  • marry me? ;)

  • i didn`t understand it :D

  • Tip: Never try this drunk - you end up confused.

  • Comment removed

  • I bloody love you ur a legend cheerz

  • it's hard because i'm used to doing other tricks with my left hand. and the demestration is with your right. so it's still kind of confusing

  • still confused

  • you have a boyfriend?

  • Oh no...., Heaven forbid you would get callouses from playing drums!

  • i can kind of do it but when i start bringing it back around to my thumb it keeps sliding down my hand =O

  • haha someone signing in on msn at 1:17.

thats such a cool trick i really envy how well you can do that (its giving me a lot of grief)! wish there were more girl drummers out there. just out of curiosity what kinda music do you play?

  • no canadian accent that i can tell =// sounds american to me

  • I LOVE YOU!!

  • Cool trick!

Well in Scottish, so you sound like you have an accent to me! everyone has an accent, how can you not? i guess for some people its hard to recognise other people with the same accent as them.

BTW i could hear your MSN messenger noises and i thought there was something up with my laptop as im not signed in LOL

  • If you watch it closely, she says to sort of jam the stick in between your forefinger and thumb. I guess that's for explanation purposes, because if you watch her perform it faster, she holds it much looser, in between the tip of her thumb and forefinger, not the complete base of the thumb. If it hangs loosely it spins better, and you wont have to use your wrist as much. I hope this helps. Thanks for the upload.

  • I have to rave about this trick as well, it's pretty frickin' sweet. A word of advise to everyone else though, when I first tried to do it, I kept using my wrists to make the, "Figure 8." Don't use your wrists so much, let the stick hang loosely from the thumbs so the momentum makes it have a circular spin rather than your whole wrist. Once you get that movement, just add the finger part with the spin part simultaneously and it will work. Bad at first, but keep trying. Taken me two hours.

  • OK this is the best trick i've ever seen now! Need to learn it. Thanks for the lesson

  • haha its so nice helps a lot specially ur cut XD ahahaha all the guys here will agree with me haha

  • woohoo finnaly got it. thanks for the lesson

  • Your a very good drumer =] Theese vids tought me a lot xP im just getting into druming so hopefuly ill do good. And no accent, im from canada too and i think the person who said you did wasnt from canada cause apperently people from canada have one but iv never noticed it before o.o?

  • really awesome stick tricks but i didnt see any drumming!!!!

  • Don't think you have an accent, but I guess that depends on where people are from. I'm from Oregon and you sound "normal" to me. :-) I love your vids.

  • no accent. love the "stick trick lesson" video. keep rockin!

  • You rock. Today on my birthday I suddenly developed an interest in doing tricks while I play and you've been very helpful. & I think we all have heavy to very light accents that deviate from the idea of the "general" English language. For me though, depending on what I tell people first, I have a different accent according to that info, haha. Anyways, from down here in New York City, thanks for the bday gift, :-)

  • Fucking ell even this cant help me :(

  • I think stick tricks are kwl. but I dont use em much. I just mosh out on my drums. WOO-HOO SLIPKNOT, DISTURED, SOAD, ETC...!

  • If you want to become a good drumset drummer, stop wasting energy on stick tricks (they're not what makes a drummer great) and focus on your groove, independence and set technique. Or pick drum corps and stick with that. You can't do both your you'll be half-assed at both. Besides you'd go further with drum set...the world needs more women players that can play WELL!

  • ...I've been playing for about 6 years now and shes more popular than me even with my playing out...Seems like she has the right idea. (I play prog rock/metal original, and rock cover band atm)

Thanks for the lessons too! I've been messing around with stick spins lightly, but for some reason havent incorped much wrist movement...that sells it. Also check out John Blackwell's spins, you might learn something new :).

  • Awesome video! I see that you were using Tom Aungst sticks. The drum line at my high school uses those, but I prefer Jim Casella. They are a little bit lighter but still as durable, and I think they bounce better.

  • How did you get that good in 7 years? you sleep with sticks under the pillow? your awesome, I'm going to keep trying, if you can do it I can do it damit. Thank you so much for the awesome explenation.... YOU ROCK!!

  • Wow...Everyone else is like; 'Ye do this' *enter normal speed of stick trick sequence* But I can't complain 'cause I do the same thing when tryin' to show people.

Well done on actually explainin' what's done:L

  • tried this and i hit my self..T_T darrn

  • wow¡¡¡ nice nice job

  • tom aungst with tape?

  • really helpful...I could never figure out how to do that and no you dont really have and accent.

  • hw long have you beena drummer fer

  • like 7 yrs :)

  • nice thats cool im been playing for 15yrs my self sence when i was 8

  • :O REALLY WHOOAA WOW

  • Yeah that makes sense. Shortly after I asked you the question i sort of figured it out but i found a different way but your way is much smoother and i think easier.

    Thanks, it helped :)

  • Hi,

You helped me get the twirls from the thumb to the next finger gap, to the next finger gap (the one before the little finger which you don't use)-but know I don't know how to link back to the thumb again to start again!

So I can just do it one way without knowing how to get the stick back smoothly to re-do it; any tips?

    Thanks :)

  • you have to grab the stick with your middle finger and your thumb and do the figure 8 motion.

that is how to do the transition back to the beginning of the trick to repeat it.

    does that make sence?

  • i'm sorry but i tried really hard to do the first Part;

  • Nice neil peart poster

  • rock on LB!

    that's a really cool trick

    I gotta learn that one!

    Chip

  • LMAO!

  • do u have a problem?

  • Some people are just immature

  • i agree... thank you

  • @LBird44 You are really a big talent!

  • excuse me ?!

  • Hey LBird. I've never been able to perfect any stick trick. The only one i can do is the "Rock Twirl". Was the first thing i learned, before i was even a drummer. My dad showed me it :P

  • I've only ever known one trick, so now I'm gonna practise this stuff, really well explained too!

  • Looks good. I'll be utilizing this one sometime soon. pretty cool.

  • thanks for this video! iv nearly got the hang of this! did you come up with the trick?

  • um i kind of did... i mean its like 3 tricks mashed into one :P

  • aah right.. well its awesome anyway:)

  • thanks man glad u like it :D

  • Very cool :)

    Nice stuff you do :)

btw... you got some msn message at the end of the movie xD

  • thanks !

and yea i know i was like should i re-do the whole thing or just forget it... so i left it in :P

glad u like the tricks :)

  • Very interesting! I spin my sticks while im playing a song, but not this twirl technique. I must learn this. Going in my favorites.

  • I can't get the stick through my phalanges like u do! (phalanges)is the medical term for "Fingers" real nice trick....

  • yea all depends on the size of ur hands/fingers... try using smaller/bigger sticks sumtimes that helps :)

  • Good Job, I think you explained that very well.

  • your read my mind lbird44. I'm slow like that. I'm so glad you made this video. we had a show last night and i was using some of your stick tricks. my friend brandon loved them.

  • great! glad u like the tricks.

if theres anything else you would like me to make a video of let me know... i can always use new ideas

    :)

  • Cheers thanks, i needed that too. I gave up on that one but il give it another go...
