The cap probably broke apart like the rest of the columns and beams and continued crushing floors below. Mass does not just go away. Since there are no core elements or anything reesembling the trusses in the cap falling outside the dust plume, it must be assumed that they stay inside the perimeter columns.

What's also quite easy to spot is the erupting dustcloud, right after the top (or what's left of it by then) disappears into the (then already existing huge) dustcloud.

The steel need not have even softened to fail. Just expanding and over-stressing joints will do. Sunlight alone can do that to bridges.

Yougene, you neglect to figure in the energy budget of all the Class A fuels in the building. Paper creates a great deal of heat when it burns. There was far more energy available in the WTC than in such structures as McCormick Place and other steel structures which failed in fires.
and the "shifting" is completely horizontal, there is no way the building just "shook from the impact", which means that there had to be something moving it from the bottom...aka explosives in the basement (most likely thermite or thermate)
Just some extra info for people that are not familiar with this topic...when you use explosives to knock down a building, you want to "shift it sideways", theres a good explanation in zeitgeist part 2.
So the shaking of the building you see here is the "shifting" of the building when its being demolished.

0:19 onwards you can see eastside facade of the top part of the tower jumping directly towards east. Why?
First the top part of the tower is going directly down, but suddenly it jumps towards east.

When the core failed, the upper part dropped more or less straight down on the lower until resistance caused the upper part to slide off to one side.

We see WTC2 tilt over. That would require the creation of a fulcrum, yes?
And the fulcrum would have to be near the west wall, yes?
And that would require all of the columns of the central core being severed.
That would be a lot to acomplish for a few gallons of jet fuel.

By your reasoning, the earlier fire in the building shopuld not have been all that significant.
