  • It is hard to believe that a race that is so fun luving and such great singers has had such a troubled past.

It is great to see things are better there now. (Well except for the economy)

Also thanks Ireland for sending us all the great young lads that are playing at our local soccer club. They do your country proud,

    From Gandolf in Perth Australia

  • Sinead's voice trancends the angels.

  • Agus dare leat glaoch orm ar sceimhlitheoireachta, agus tú ag féachaint síos do gunnaí!

  • I like this music. So I'll think I'll just listen to it and not bother with all the saddo comments below. I learned during 21 years spent at sea never to 'pee over the weather side of the ship.'

I'll add my own line to that .... '... just wait for the wind to blow it all away.'

Good on yer Sinead and Davy.

  • Ireland is my homeland and I take pride in the fact that the best drinkers and philosophists are one in the same.. basically when it 'really' comes to what matters 'wars' are not discussed at my local and what counts is who you are..... Its your round...

  • @SuperClagnut Yes because it's a fucking opium den with the junkies on barstools instead of mats on the ground.

  • Listen to lyrics @ 3:55 + But if I live and should you die for Ireland Let not your dying thoughts be just of me But say a prayer to God for our dearest Island I know He'll hear and help to set her free And I will take your pike and place my dearest And strike a blow, though weak the blow may be Twill help the cause to which your heart was nearest Oh Danny Boy, Oh, Danny boy I love you so.
  • Does she have asthma or what? Gasping is not the best way to sing a song. Egad.

Professional singers practice voice control, so why doesn't she?

  • Personally, I love it.

As the old saying goes, its ok to do wrong if you know what right is.

  • Personally, I love it.

As the old saying goes, its ok to do wrong if you know what right is. I think that she is trying to match the flute's timber. But who knows, I still love it.

  • @TheGranule She's batshit.

  • @jockelinho

Schäm Dich du Spinner, wenn ich diese gequirlte Scheisse von Dir lese und dann höre das Du meine Muttersprache sprichst wird mir übel. Großkotziges Auftreten und keinerlei Ahnung von unserer eigenen Geschichte.

I´m german and i tell you that the most of us love Ireland, the culture, the music and the irish people, he is an idiot, don´t think that that IS GERMAN, it isn´t.

    SAOIRSE

  • @DeWe3107

Proper order my friend, I don't think that other fool is representative of your countrymen and women. I know many fine Germans.

  • we were all betrayed. Our best died before their time. The polititions who followed took the spoils. The Brown envelopes from Town reps to the irish Shaned. Dev in his Rowels . We were all taken for fools.

  • @Portlaoise50 Give your chin a wipe you're talking shite.

  • For my father.......... always in My Heart

  • great video, gracias

  • Should be sung with power in the voice!

  • Exquisite

  • Exquisite

  • Too breathy and she breathes in weird places. But I love that song

  • American here, why do we judge each other on our countries' historical pasts? I didn't kill the Natives & enslave the Africans... well my ancestors didn't either, seeing as they were poor NYC Irish.... But you see it is now that we should judge each other. We should listen to people before assuming they're supportive of their governments. I was sickened by the was the Germans and French treated me when I visited Europe. The Irish and British were excellent hosts and understood this concept

  • why, how did they treat you? there is an awful lot of anti-americanism in Germany these days and I would be sorry to hear that you did meet some of those sometimes brainless people. But mind - I always get the Hitler-question when I'm abroad, I guess we just have to live with that - some people really don't understand intercultural communication. But don't let this go molesting your impression of Germany - it surely is a great country and I am proud to call it my native land. cheers!

  • It would have been better if she hadn't sang it so softly. the instrumental is very nice.

  • sinead has a beatutiful voice. it isn't only words expressed. she is an artist who can pait a pictue and yany at the heart at the same time. i will never agree with her politics but her singing makes me cry

  • Quit fighting you idiots and listen to the great music.

  • @Chivalryaintdead thank u sir

  • Quins bons records! Gracies Marc...t´estimo!

  • Awful- sorry.

  • worst ever...get a haircut

  • lol - sounds tho you got issues with the celtic pigs jock_the_scottish_gitt - well take it here and now - up the ass you red head blue eyes prick - give the poor celts a break man - all they wanted was to be left to get on wit their lives - then the english pigs took control and to this day still do... what ever bones you haild from jock just remember we are all in this together - may the celtic-norse gods shine on your pathetic ass this very moment!

  • wieso verwechseln mich alle mit nem schotten?

sorry, my english is not so good.

excuse me, but i am german. from westphalia.

    fresh blood...

  • achtung! - vas eich loss...? forgive me for I know not what I say... and with you being German we must forgive you for not mentioning the war. However in fairness to all concerned the pathetic differences between all people is far outweighed by the universal connectiveness we all have. Go in peace go in peace jockelinho.

  • 'S an fhirinn a th' ann an sin. Bu chòir do dh'Alba agus Èire a bhith saor... agus rachaibh na Sassainich a sìos a Sassain

  • @jockelinho i would like to meet u somtime to see if your as brave face to face,to see if u`d insult my country to my face, i wouldnt think so. its a pity cause you probably dont know which country you belong to,let me guess your from scotland but you also wave a union jack also. ha ha pathetic. wanker.

  • Your faggotry is not appreciated, don't fuck Ireland, fuck you mate, fuck you right up the arsehole with a big banana......made of cream.

  • @gallowglarse nicht nett.

    wirklich. ... nicht nett :.(..:

  • No thank you really my arse jockelinho. Ya love taking foreign objects up the pooper. That's fine, it's a lifestyle choice but don't go projecting your issues on to the Irish. We didn't kick anyone out of Ireland, first the jobs ran out, then the money ran out and then the eastern Europeans ran out. It's called economic migrancy you donkey, follow the money-trail. Oh and also we signed away our sovereign territorial waters in exchange for all that EU money, it's quid pro quo.

  • @jockelinho

Your country failed twice to conquer Europe through force of arms and, since bribery is war continued through other means, you've now decided to simply buy it. Fair play, Germany wins this round but don't come on here saying "fuck Ireland". You're going to heap scorn on a nation that since independence hasn't done shit to anyone, and you coming from a country with one of the most reprehensible histories going? Go examine yourselves in Germany before you point the finger.

  • @gallowglarse

great answer, i love both countries because of my family backrounds..

    german/irish

    erin go bragh

  • @gallowglarse well put...................

  • @gallowglarse FUCK YA!!!! AN FUCK HIM!!!!!

  • @gallowglarse

    Don´t... just don´t PLEASE.

EVERY NATION HAS ITS SHIT ON A STICK.

THE BRITISH Slaughterd the Indish and so many other nations too,

The US, started with their natives and still does it

just don´t talk about the russians and the spanish or portugal.

ALL THESE NATIONS killed. ONE more puplic the others not.

But no pointing here. We are all NOT WITHOUT SINS. So no stoning.

WHY DONT WE JUST TRY TO GET ALONG WITH EVERYBODY; WITHOUT HATE????

  • @jockelinho So typical of how the western world sees the average kraut, arrogant ,and self oppinionated.yet it took a housepainter to pull you out of the shit ,only to drop you back in it .

  • sehr nicht nett!

  • @gallowglarse it´s comments like this which make me sad to be irish and then I remember that everyone in Ireland is not like this (even if there are a few left). Your logic is incorrect anyway, it would be impossible to fuck yourself with a banana made from cream, it being a light foam and all that.

Nice to see that a lot of people here agree with me

  • @losarman

Logic neither required nor intended, it's an absurdity plain and simple. What we have there is a quote from the Hardybucks losarman and this spat with the German is just a bit of fun for your lunchtime, don't take it all so seriously. For my own part I hope that I'm never so bereft of things to do in my life that a comment left by a complete stranger on a Youtube video (admittedly a great Youtube video) affects my life to the degree that I'm ashamed of my nationality. Thanks, bye.

  • Two major icons of ireland, not to mention the country itself Thanks!!

  • Hi, i havn't been on here for a good while but i just checked my messages which i rarely do, and apparently i made a bad comment to officalbom (Bernie). I honestly do not remember doing this and know for a fact i wouldnt anyway as it is not in my nature. I would not wish what happened to you on any one and you have my sincerest sympathies.

  • one of the most beautyful things i know

  • My grandmother sung this song to me when I was a baby, so I'm told. I was born in Canada but my grandma's thoughts were in Ireland. God bless her beautiful heart.

  • That was a bloody privilege to listen to.Your a national fuckin treasure sweetheart.

  • my dad passed away 2 days ago this seems apropriate, cool song.

  • My band played this song for our final concert...it was the last time all of us would play together for the rest of our lives...it brings me back and its a wonderful rendition..good job

  • Either way, SInead does a great job!

  • She's quite mad, but I love her dearly. no one else can sing with no instruments and sound so pure.

  • Great song and marvelous photo shop! I've never been to Ireland but I wish some day I get to visit such beautifull country. And try the beer of course...

  • Sinead's a great lady. Her voice is beautiful! I have only heard controversy around her name, but wow! I wouldn't mind a lullaby in person by that great woman! She rocks!

  • A very beautiful interpretation.

    Love it!

  • Sinead is the best!

  • This version of is beautifully contemplative in the first verse with the low pipes, and poignantly dark in the second with the uilleann pipes. The best, most emotional rendition of Danny Boy I've heard yet.

  • John is a great name

In germany we call a John Hans

    god save all Johns

  • god bless all john's and those that ride on them,,,

  • Hans, Johann, John, Iwan, Govanni, Juan,

    Johannes,

  • Jon

  • oh i forgot

  • sinead will always be AWESOME

  • beautiful!

  • what a song, you'll rarely here the last two verses though, wonder why???

  • because the part about ireland was added by sinéad and doesn't belong to the original song

  • Then why is the original title "Londonderry Air" ?

  • It's actually the Derry Air, because originally it was a musically piece the lyrics were added later. The london was added later aswell for reasons of political and religious bigotry.

  • No. The earliest know title to this melody is Aislean an Oigfear.

The "Danny Boy" version was written by a limey and set to the ancient Celtic tune.

  • good singing??????

  • Yes Moneymore: born and bred in Limerick, on the banks of the river Shannon. My Chinese Wife gave me the nickname Bokway! Slainte . . .

  • sung thi for my grans funeral :')

  • its the LONDONDERRY AIR u retard

  • Sorry Pal - but the name of the town is Derry. Londonderry is a vestige of English oppression of the Irish and is therefore anathema to all Irish republicans. Best to call it Danny Boy.

  • i agree.

  • sound just like my mum yoused to sing it rip

  • Beautiful video and song. Love the way Sinead sang it so slowly. The photos were lovely, they took me back to Ireland. I was lucky enough to finally realize my dream trip to Ireland this year. TFS!

  • lol dont get me wrong beautifully done can't beat sineads voice or davies whistle's prolly my fav song on the net

  • love this song heard it since i was a kid my families from derry colerain love the derry air means ass in french lol

  • OUR SONG IS Beautiful

  • the song is derry air

  • Many songs are known by more than one name. All this arguing over then name doesn't make the music any less beautiful.

  • a rose by any other name would smell just as sweet.

  • the voice & pipes compliment well...Derry...to call it by another name is ignorant (in the kindest meaning of the word)

  • the song is Londonderry Air , even nationalist Malachy McCourt says so in his excellent book on the history of the song.

  • The tune is Londonderry Air. The Words were added later so the song is called Danny Boy and for all you Irishmen the WORDS were written by an Englishman (Fred Weatherly)

  • Londonderry Air - one of my favourites , this is not a great version though ..

  • DERRYYYYYYY

  • Derry no london

  • i wonder if the iraqi people have their own "danny boy" to sing at the funerals of their slain.

  • Very sorry to hear of your affliction but did you know that people with your condition can pass a driving test? Dont give up hope.

  • this song breaks my heart. we played it at my kid brothers funeral who was killed in iraq. this is the first time ive been able to listen to it since

  • Please accept my sincere sympathy on the loss of your brother. I cannot think of a better song to pipe him to Heaven. God bless. (( ))

Nancy in Maine - Irish to my very being

  • Bless you, mrcolmh... Wishing you peace and good memories, always.

  • Wonderful -- brings tears to my eyes

  • Me encanta la! Donde puedo buscar esto version?

understanding beauty is much easier with music like this. peACEveryonEverywherEveryday. ~eLi G., piaNOwarist

  • I don't speak Spanish! I'm Irish and just wanted to say thank you..great song, great places hope you enjoyed your visit!

    Slainte agus Banacht!

    Saludos y ★★★★★
