The version of this jingle that I remember was "Brylcreem - the gals'll all pursue ya / They love to get their fingers in your hair". Which even as a little kid I knew was ridiculous, since who would want to get that slimy junk on their hands??
Worked (still does!) that way with most overseas products sold locally - the local advertising agency would just do a version of whatever campaign was currently running in the product's home country...

Yeah - I'm 90% sure that the animation sequence is American, with just the closing voiceover and "pack shot" done in Australia...
