Hey I am having some problems with mine, I am useing the stamp ediotr for mac, and for some reason whenever I try to identify the stamp I get the error:
"Couldn't open serial connection.Serialadapter plugged in?Port selected?".
So I try to select a port and it says none but it offers no options,so I switched out my board, and made sure the voltage input was enough, everything was perfect, and I still get the same error.Any suggestions?

This little kit is so fun, the electricity class in my school has about 40 microcontrollers and a ton of modules. Let's just say I look forward to that class more than my own birthday.
@Robobbly I don't really work with the Basic Stamp cause I think it's not enough for the money one pays for it, but I'm sure you could find one online somewhere. Try Jameco.com or Sparkfun.com If you're new to microcontrollers, you might want to instead take a look at the Arduino. There's a bunch of video's online and they're much cheaper and I think much easier to work with. Try sparkfun.com for the Arduino. -Joe
@joebro391 Thanks, i will look at those websites. Im not realy new to microcontollers, i have got other boards but there programmed in machine code so thats a bit of a hastle to do!
I just started learning the BS2 -- AND WoW! The FREE materials that parallax provide for learning BLOW away any other platform. $79 for the "Basic Activity kit"/w/software!!! (from fry's) -- IMO: One week with the Parallax system = one semester of collage. You'll be controlling servos, 7-seg displays, relays, leds, serial and parallel data transfer, IR detectors, numerous sensors and more. Download the free "whats a microcontroller" PDF student guide and take a look. Parallax(dot)com

If you unplug it from the power then plug it in does it forget the program?
Robobbly 1 year ago
@Robobbly no, the program is saved in flash-memory, not RAM. -Joe

I was thrilled when I did this too, with the same kit. Then I realized that Thomas Edison must be laughing his head off in heaven!

Try the A-WIT C-Stamp. It's much more powerful and costs less. Plus you program it in C instead of basic.

No soldering is required for this kit.

Now, thats just the BS2 and the Basic Stamp BOE right?

Yes that's right.

neat,
I did something similar except with a PIC 16f628A microcontroller.
