you dont seem to realize that there are plenty of alternative fuels that can be used in existing vehicles with little to no modification. oil from algae can be processed in existing plants to create the same fuels we use now. the government is either hiding this from us or doesnt know jack shit. the clunkers program is proof of that.

My car (93 explorer) was eligible for the program. I didn't even consider trading it in for two reasons: 1, car payments are stupid when you own a good running car. 2: i don't support things (even to my gain) that i don't believe in its a sin.. this program is a travesty

ummm yeah I work in a salvage yard that is taking in these clunkers. We are getting 2003 chevy silverados, We even got a very nice 1998 GT mustang that is very clean inside. Too bad the government makes the dealerships blow up the motors. It isn't just the absolute worst coming in. People are trading in nice, but not fuel efficient vehicles.

I will get my Pontiac G5 soon. I got the GM discount plus the $6,000 incentive PLUS the cash for clunkers $4,500 off of my $18,980 brand new car!! Now all I have to pay is $7,683 after I have already put $500 down. So it's actually around $8,100 total. Ha ha and now the GOOD incentive for the G5 has dried up but my agreed price stays ha ha. It's decently loaded with OnStar mylink, alloys, auto, USB, ipod, steering wheel strereo controls etc. I'm first in line at my dealer 4 the program.

I got a $6,000 rebate then a 4,500 clunker rebate PLUS GM discount. The $6,000 rebate was because it's a pontiac and on it's way out. Besides the Cobalt is gonna die out for the new Chevy Cruze anyhow. I lucked out and you don't know what U R talking about. The $19,000 was null and void. Derrrr!

Tried to get my SUV for Cash-For-Clunkers and I was told I had till midnight to do it because they were shutting it down. Only problem I had was getting a copy of my one year car registration but it was pass business hour at the DMV. Because who the hell keeps the expired registration around when you have the updated one??
