  • latest updates to the Droid software to maps and browser do allow multi-touch.

  • Just switched to the droid! Couldn't be happier!!! Fuck the iphone.

  • How about if you focus your camera before shooting the video? :S

  • ALSO THE Dolphin browser has the feature lol it can pinch to zoom in and out. Fuck all you Iphone fan boys.

  • the droid has over 20,000 apps now and growing so give it time

  • What song is that--in the beginning of the video?

  • whoa,,, i never thought ill use the "you need a life" line but dam you just forced me into it.. oh and just to let you know my cousin owns a Iphone and i own the Motorola Droid and there are lots of apps android has the apple doesnt.

  • Does it have Peggle? :D

  • dun know.. is it fun? never heard of it

  • I have it on PC and my friend had it on her itouch it's hella fun :D

  • Rumor has it android 2.1 is supposed to be coming out soon (its what ive heard on the droid forums dont shoot messenger) which is on the motorola milestone in Europe and is supposed to support pinch to zoom... and a couple apps that have good pinch to zoom is dolphin browser and B&B gallery

  • LOL I'll use my turd until it spazzes then send it bck like you did n get a N1

  • @TimoJulz

Bull. I had a Blackberry Curve for nearly a year. It does have better battery life, but that's only because it isn't doing nearly as much stuff, nor tasks as complex. If you get a task/battery manager app, the battery life is perfectly fine. You just can't expect to have the screen on full brightness while streaming video and expect it to last a full day.

Most apps available for iPhone are available for android. Plus there are plenty that aren't on the iPhone.

  • The only reason you should have problems with the droid is if you do not know how to manage it. That's the big difference between the iPhone and the Droid, the iPhone does everything for you, the Droid you need a little intuition and common sense. Also the Android app market is young, it will grow. Besides you don't need 100,000 apps, I guarantee you I will never have 10,000 apps on a phone at any given time. More than likely you will never experience even a hundredth of 100,000 apps.

  • i dunno i head the driod has 11,000 and the iphone has 93,00, but even if it has alot more apps are you really going to download them all? i mean how really do you need. i think the droid has enough for one person to have

  • your stupid the droid has been out how long? yeah thats right stupid not even a year. the iphone has been out longer so natuarlly there will be more apps. just give it time stupid and those numbers will be closer.

  • iphone has been out for a year + but they havent released a new phone. I feel when the other companies realease a phone, they realese a new one later to make ti better... that makes app developers turn to the newer phone.. but for ihpone its just 1 phone all compatible right?

  • dumb fuck, you mean android. droid is the phone and android is the OS

  • Haha you said "your stupid". Moron. But yeah YOU'RE right about the apps more will come, and 90% of the iphone apps are garbage.

  • God I need a new phone. This old POS Motorola Q I got just ain't doing it for me anymore. I want the Droid.

  • @TheKoreanX lol yeah i just got rid of my old phone for droid trust me its the best phone ever made

  • I'm getting one this Friday! I'm so excited! But the only think that I'm worried about is that the directional pad on the keyboard is on the right side and I'm left handed. Guess I'll have to deal with it.

  • @TheKoreanX i wish it was on that side also or they would get rid of it i never use it only if im playing mario or some game...

  • But is it bearable? Is it something that makes you wish you got a different phone?

  • put it like this i have the droid and the iphone 3gs... the iphone is a better entertainment device cause of the apps basically it does everything... droid is a better phone cause of the verizone network so put it like this u want a phone for calls text better service that the droid if you want a entertainment system with games music then iphone for you if you dont care about service... thats why i got droid to call and text and use iphone for wifi and music entertainment ipod

  • you dont know what you are talking about ha

  • I dont know wat I'm talking about its trueidiot att service sucks!!! An iphone is basically a psp when the droid is a real phone

  • Ha, Mattskinman is right you really don't know what your talking about. I have the droid and EA and many high end game developer are fighting with Verizon to make the high end games for the Droid.

The problem is enforcing pricing with the discovery of rooting the phone make apps movable to the sd card. Have you ever wonder why the there was a slide out keyboard with a dpad hmm?...

It's for gaming, don't believe me? Download the snes roms and other emulator (use the keyboard)

  • Ooh yea they made a d pad on the right of the keyboard real smart like I was saying wat is a phone great service no drop calls the droid is a great phone witch I phone is the opposite with drop.calls bad service... and dick face the keyboard is for people that don't like touch screen

  • The point I'm trying make is that there is more than one purpose to the dpad. While it can be use for average consumer use. You'll see that its a lot more useful for enhancing gaming and other sorts of applications. There are more effective dpad layout out there then the one put into the droid. Research the web this phone was meant to appeal more towards multimedia capabilities. Don't like the touch screen (don't get a fuckin touch screen phone).

  • @trdracer21 i have the droid and ipod touch

  • @trdracer21- i myself am about a week away from ordering the droid- i have an ipod touch & i think it coupled with the droid is perfect because if i want i can grb enet off the droid if i need 2. my question is why do you have an iphone if you have a droid why not get an ipod touch and save x amount per month

  • That is until the Market Place catches up to the App Store. When that happens, Apple will have to redesign the Iphone to match or exceed the Droid. As of now, the Droid is a better phone period.

  • CAPACITIVE

  • Yah but there's still no multitouch on the internet.

  • Theirs an app for that its called dolphin Browers

  • +1 to the Dolphin Browser. Now I need to get my hands on a Firefox or Google Chrome browser for the Droid.

  • lol i use to have the iphone but switched to verizon and personally guys this phone is alot better.

ive had iphone so so i know

  • Yeah you can multi touch the photo, but, can you multi touch the web pages?

  • Theirs an app for that its called dolphin Browers

  • I'm getting more and more convinced - I've GOT to have this phone... Money be damned - ha.

  • but can you use it for the internet?

  • there is a browser you can get that has it

  • what camera are you using to make your videos?

  • AT$T Can't do anything! Because the Droid Eris has pinch and zoom multi touch. They should have made it out of the box on the moto droid. Not saying its not a nice phone. Just saying they could have done it

  • that really helps thanks.

think that they will add an update for multi-touch?

  • that's the only app that uses multi-touch?? Every video I've seen uses that same app. LAME for now iPod>DROID and from here on lets let sales talk

  • @joshcarz "Let sales talk"? Sure: All Nokia phones beat the pants of the iPhone, Windows is better then Mac OS, McDonalds is better then every other restaurant out there...

"Let sales talk" is the biggest bull I ever here from any number of people. No, DON'T let sales talk. Sales != quality.

  • I'm not saying quality. I'm saying people buy what they want. Companies compete for sales. Even if its competing in marketing. I really just don't see anyone else beating the iphone anytime soon. Ya the others might have a few more features but I hardly see them ever doing it as smooth as mac.

  • Plus mac will eventually come out with somthing new and they will be the new buzz. It will go back and forth. It's all a competition. But Mac has a pretty good reputation the others probably will never have.

  • The problem with Apple is, they won't release the rights for 3rd party companies to do more with their geart (computers and phones). You can't "build" an Apple computer like you can a PC. And in order to personalize an Iphone, you have to hack it....I.E. Jail Break it.

  • I agree with that 100%. I would never buy a mac notebook or desktop. I really don't mod my phone much. I did some with my windows mobile phone. Maybe that's why I like my iPhone so much because anything is better than windows mobile.

  • @joshcarz Nokia's already beating the iPhone in terms of sales. Your sentence should read, "I don't see anyone beating Nokia any time soon".

Besides, the company's, "Apple", not, "Mac".

  • wait so you have to go into the app then open/load a picture to use multi touch on it?

  • Love the comments like "Oh I can do all that if I jailbreak my iphone" yet you run a high risk of bricking your $600 iphone, you lose your warranty, oh and when apple releases updates to the OS, you have to wait for a bunch of basement geeks to send you a new jailbreaked version.

My droid can do all these cool things with over the air updates and I STILL GET TO KEEP MY WARRANTY AND SANITY.

  • @OMFGitsJUSTIN risk when jailbreaking = 0,0000001

and if something goes wrong after you jailbroke your iphone/ipod touch, just install the standard firmware and your warranty is back...

  • Riiiigggghhhhtttttttttt. If there was no risk, apple would allow it and allow you to keep your warranty. Obviously they don't want to spend money on repairs for a risky hack. Also p.s. the new jailbreaked OS can easily be hacked and numerous iphones have been tampered with by hackers. So I will have fun with my stable, safe, warrenty ridden phone while you risk yours.

No need to risk my privacy for features I get right out of the box.

  • no, apple doesn't allow it cause it gives full access to the phone and so you can install hacked games and programs with functions forbidden for apple. and the only hacked iphones were jailbroken iphones with ssh installed and the user didn't change the root password (which you obviously should do if you are busy with those kind of things).

  • Apple won't give you full access to your phone and install "functions forbidden for apple". Well that sounds to me like you have a $600 locked down POS phone ;)

I will stay with my warranty filled, completely unlocked phone that I have COMPLETE access to. thank you.

  • I had an Ipod touch before I dropped it in a bucket of water by accident. Worst day of the year...lol. BUUTTTT....to speak on your Jailbreaking point. Here is the pattern. First you got to search all around to find the tools to Jailbreak it, and find the right tools that is. Then Jailbreak the phone/pod. Now it's personalize capable....that is until you want to update it with the latest firmware.

  • Then you have to go about RE-jailbreaking it by searching for the NEWER tools, download apps that you have already downloaded...AGAIN, since it's jailbroken it's not like you can back up those apps inside of ITunes. As cool as it is doing....once you have done it 5, 6, 7 times just so you can personalize your phone...it's no longer a cool thing, but a freakin Hassle to do. And my freakin Itunes wants to update every 48 damn hours it seems. That's Apple for you though, they update CONSTANTLY!

  • Funky Video Open! Too bad you can't focus your camera. Maybe next time eh?

  • i like this phone. Every1s saying a jailbroekn iphonee is really good but my cousin has it and it just slows it up and it crashes more;If you jailbrake it. Just takes much more time to open/close apps go to music player and etc.

  • the verizon droid is a nice device, but is just a multi touch mobile mobile browser, in that case i get a new iphone better.

  • duude.

    the droid assrapes the iPhone.

iPhone got video recording just this summer!!!

it doesnt support multiple apps at once.

and the list goes on and on!

  • OH so u have to do illegal things to the phone first?

    No thank you.

I would rather have a good device straight out the box.

  • you have to jailbreak it but you have to now wat are you doing dont just do it and fuck with cmon stop hating iphone is the shit.

  • You confuse facts with hating. The MOTO Droid does more than the I-Phone because of the Android 2.0 OS and the network baby. 5X the 3G coverage. Motorola, Verizon Wireless and Google a winning partnership!

  • iphone sucks, its out of date, severley lakcs hardware, everyone has one, made by apple, all bad things

  • Multi-touch would be nice on the web browser, and a few other places as well (such as Google Maps) but it's really not that big of a deal.

It's more convenient that double tapping, but a fairly minuscule feature.

  • thanks man for this video because of you i did one too showing people that this phone can do it. Its interesting to see that moto was scared to put it on the phone out the box . apples scary lawyers i guess got to them

  • The European version named "Milestone" has this in all apps. Google had to remove it because of apples patents that do not apply in the EU because Software-Patents are not allowed in the EU. So thank Apple for that!

  • ok, explain the mult-touch in sprints hero and verizons eris? those are 'with google ' branded phones also, so google is not leaving out to please apple.

  • engadget says the European device would have multitouch from house on, not only on 3rd party apps...

Must be some U.S. typical google, verizon, apple who knows else law suit concern that stopped them from implementing it.

  • Just gotThe Droid and for sure, it is no iPhone! ..pinch and zoom should be available on all aps and it's definitely not. Google needs to do better than Cupertino.

  • its not that multi-touch is not available, because it is. The developer of the program chooses weather to integrate the feature or not, it is not the phone.

  • would that same concept work on the web browser???

  • I dont use pinch and zoom for internet. Thats stupid! I just do the tap which makers everything perfectly readable. I your using the pinch to seem on web stuff your not using it for the correct reason. You must be fucking blind. So this wouldnt affect my decision whether to get the droid or not. iphone is shit!!!! Att is shitt!!! Get the fuck over it fanboy pussies. Go buy some crocks or go to the gap. Piece of shit hippies!!!

  • can you pinch and zoom the internet?

  • Nope, I just tried one out for myself.

  • take that iphone!! haha

  • Right. The device is capable, but the browser and onscreen keyboard are not using it, and I have a feeling an over-entitled company in Cupertino might be responsible. Here's to hoping. (As if it won't get hacked in).

  • pinching and zooming for photo's is great but this would be best used with the web browser which it doesn't support, thats where most of the disgruntled talk comes in, im sure 3rd party tools will fix that though since the milestone supports it

  • i love the intro song, lol

  • Me too but Youtube is saying I dont own it when its my friends band?

  • there is ZERO functionality to that. Why do people care about pinch and zoom so much. Is it really easier than tapping the screen...Nope. Pointless.

  • I 100% agree I had and iPhone 3g and it wasn't a big deal to me I was just like wow kinda cool but in the end I just kept double tapping because I thought to myself its a cell phone why am I using both hands for no reason

  • Agree.!

  • Thanks for showing this!

  • Are there any applications which i can install to work like the Sense UI or Touchflo 3D for this device?

  • i wish there was a phone that would pwn the iphone 3gs! but unfortunately there is no phone yet that is completely better in every aspect

  • what aspect is the iphone better at than the droid?

  • hah... none?

  • Except for Android 2.0

  • go ahead and name these aspects. you aren't being specific cause you are afraid of the Droid and so many other phones utilizing the android market. Apple knows android market is going to dominate their Apple store. You're just a fanboy with his eyes shut and hands over your ears trying to hide from the reality that your phone is old and tired

  • awesome vid!

  • Better than iPhone 3GS?

  • yea but thats only on pictures.... It would be sweet if it was on the browser...

    thanks for the vid though

  • The API is there...

  • Alright

  • oh yea first view :D, can you pinch zoom while browsing the interweb?

  • Well the API is there for developers to utilize. Android 2.0 has API's that support Multi-Touch. I wanted to post this video to show users that it can support it out of the box.
