  • What is impressive, and I never realized this, is that the actors involved with the live action show also did the voices for this series.

  • Wow why don't I remember this cartoon. It must of came on during one of the other stations that had a better cartoon on.

  • tress mcneille

  • Another person that apparently got his start here was Lyndon Ruddy--these days he's worked at Nelvana and Cookie Jar (formerly CINAR) in Canada.

  • Five of my NBC "big six" aired this year (Gummi Bears, Smurfs, Snorks, Punky Brewster, Alvin and the Chipmunks)

  • 0:11 Renae Jacobs is even listed who voice April from Ninja Turtles. Intersetingly, Pat Musick is also listed here, whose daughter, Mae Whitman (Parenthood) will be voicing April in the new Ninja Turtles series for Nickelodeon next year. I guess April O'Neils get their start from this show...

  • Wow, Butch Hartman actually worked on this show?

  • Comment removed

  • These credits look quite similar to Alvin & The Chipmunks ('80s), especially its later seasons.

  • Ruby-Spears is underrated!!

  • @Knightphall you are 100% on the money, these kids now days with their idiotic cartoons, they really dont know what they are missing, yes our parents thought our cartoons were stupid, but now i have an 8 year old brother lol,and my mom appologizes all the time for calling what i watched as a kid stupid, she's like i had no idea it would get this horrid!

  • *wipes tear from eye*

For those of you who didn't grow up in the 80s or early 90s, I'm sorry.

  • @Knightphall I agree 100%. I was there and it was a great time to grow up.

  • Great Animation. They did a great job on this one. It look's just like the actual live action series. Awesome.

  • Note some of the names in the list:

Rudy Larriva - former animator for Chuck Jones; best known among animation fans for the godawful Road Runner cartoons made with low budget in the sixties.

Cosmo Anzilotti - was an animator/director at Terrytoons.

Butch Hartman - later created "The Fairly Odd Parents" for Nick.

Well, we all have to make a living one way or another.

  • @bakertoons Thanks! I love learning who these people are.

  • I remember this cartoon back in the day ... and there was the damn hightops called Punky Brewster's and they weren't cheap shoes back in the day!!

  • damn Frank Welker's done a shitload of voices for stuff but will forever known for doing the voice of Fred Jones and would take over the role of Scooby Doo in 03.

  • lembro desse desenho quando tinha uns 9 anos...

    nuuss que saudade...quase chorei!

  • Nossa. O saudade da minha infância =D

  • who sings the Punky Brewster cartoon intro song?

  • OH MEMORIES

  • ROFL BUTCH HARTMAN

  • wow I know Butch worked at H-B for years before teaming up with his old boss (at H-B) Fred "Frederator " Seibert for Fairly Oddparents. But I did not know that he also worked for R-S(HB's sister company at the time)

  • and that's how R-S kicks ass especally in the 80's & 90's and thinking of fred the voice of fred jones from Scooby Doo did glomer

  • this brings back so many memories. now this is when Sat. morning cartoons ruled!!

  • Saturday morning cartoons are few and far between and what is shown is terrible.. nothing like it was 25 years ago.. probably never will be

  • I noticed a way to identify the R-S music composers. Dean Elliot mainly just used a regular orchestra, and Shuki Levy and Haim Saban made heavy use of synths

  • @wiley207 It was Mr. Elliot himself who composed the music for Ruby-Spears' "Gold R-S" logo.

  • Wow. Oh Memories.

  • can you find punky brewster cartoon colsing credits/theme #4

  • I miss the old times tv ain't what it use to be I don't know what these people are doing now tv's wack now

  • that noise at the end the very first time i saw this and i heard that noise i almost messed myself lol!

  • Weren't the 80s just awesome??? So awesome you wish to relive the times!!!

  • @SCRIPPSCAST2007 Yes indeed....First place I would go back to if I had a time machine.

  • Ruby-Spears...now any 80's baby should know that name very well. Damn I miss those days.

  • Wow Ruby-Spears Enterprises....Didnt they also create Alvin and the Chipmunks as well...I do remember their logo quite well

  • I love the design of the characters, so cute

  • WHATS THAT NOISE AT 00:48?

  • No that was the classic logo for Ruby-Spears Entertainment

  • WHATS THAT NOISE AT THE END?

  • If you look closely in the beginning, you can see Punky fading out...

  • I think it's a glitch in the video.

  • didn't remember the end theme at all...I wasn't sure I like the whole Glomer thing...wasn't there and episode when he almost went back home, but stayed or did he go home? can't remember...

  • Glomer didn't work here. I didn't like him that much myself. He could've worked in the primetime series.

  • every animated show of the era needed a animal like sidekick and they probably though him up in a hurry.

  • this is one of the coolest endings ever thanks very very much 4 the upload!!!

  • Note the name of one of the "modelists": Butch Hartman, who eventually worked for Cartoon Network and later created and produced "THE FAIRLY ODD-PARENTS" and "DANNY PHANTOM" for Nickelodeon. Everybody started somewhere!!

  • This animated series was indeed based on the NBC videotaped sitcom.

  • Yes, and it has the 1983 NBC Productions logo at the end. If someone has the end credits with the 1986 CGI Peacock, please upload it.

  • Not surprisingly, NBC aired this animated Saturday morning series.

  • And that makes Punky the first sitcom character with both an animated Saturday morning cartoon and a primetime series.

  • Right.

  • palmer: You're incorrect. Both The Brady Bunch (Bradu Kids) and Happy Days (Fonz and The Happy Days Gang) had their primetime series and animated series before Punky.
