It's pleasing to see Mr. Kovacs bring that wonderful smile to Gene's face.He was a funny,brilliant man.This video is not easy to watch,considering Gene was going through so much at the time,

but the beauty of this unique and special lady prevailed.We were privileged.To this day she has no equal.

wow, the sheer bravery of tierney to do this show in 1957. maybe it was out of desperation to save her career or to show she was healthy, but if i have this right, she had a breakdown two years earlier, pseudo-medicine of the day gave her 27 electro-shock treatments, she tried to escape and was sent back. and (presumably later in the year after this show) she climbed out onto a 14 story ledge, came back in, and was readmitted to a better clinic, then briefly became a sales clerk...

Her life was quite sad, her daughter Daria was born with severe autism, her husband Oleg cheated on her left and right and she suffered a nervous breakdown, but she found happiness with her last marriage. RIP Gene and thank you for the films!!!!!

Ernie Kovacs died in a road crash in 1962 aged 42. his daughter Mia died the same way in 1982 aged 22. he was in Bell book and candle.

Celebrity isn't that special anymore. First, anyone can be one (See Sarah Palin or Kim Kardashian). Second, the paparazzi don't let the celebrities have any privacy anymore, so there's less mystery. You can probably google "Nicole Kidman horrible plastic surgery or Angelina Jolie anorexic" and you'll get a bunch of hideous pictures of the women buying Cheetos at the 7/11.

The late great Gene Tierney was so beautiful....and so talented. It's sad that she had to battle mental illness for a large part of the 1950's & 1960's. Very few characters were as lovely as her Linda Hunt in the 40's noir classic "Laura". Va va va voom! :)

Gene is radiant and had not lost her charm and glorious smile. At the time this show aired, she had not yet fully recovered from depression. Not long after in 1958, she would be very close to suicide. After the "ledge" incident, the Menninger Clinic in Topeka accepted her. This was to be her third sanitarium.

Gene was suffering from mental depression brought on by many sources of distress in her life.

The mustachioed gentleman is Ernie Kovacs, a pioneer of early TV who first used many of the techniques, skit ideas and special effects so widely reproduced in many successive TV productions.

Tragically, Kovacs died in a car crash some five years after this program. He had been driving home from a party during a heavy downpour, and may have been trying to light a cigar when he lost control of the car.

watching her biog and reading her book shre mentions that what ever i have wether it's bi-polar schizophrenia and they interviewed her best friend and her said she was he said she would ring him up and talk about things they'd done 7yrs ago and stuff like that i just hope she's at peace now and happy xxo
