if saab-spyker makes one these cars, my next car will be a saab. all they need now to complete there production line is a city car like the toyota iq.
Nationalization is not a goal like liberalism should definitly not be one. In SAAB situation, this economic decision should have been seriously thought with KOENIGSEEG 's useful help. 1 billion dollars from Sweden + KG refound (1 billion dollars) a good long term negociation with GM adding a new strategy for SAAB with ecological engines and 3 new models, AND THIS WAS IT, whatever frenchy or not : SAAB would have been saved and Swedish heritage and jobs as well!
Please, don't misunderstand me. I would not object to a nationalisation at all. On the contrary. Nationalisation is not a goal in itself but it would have been very helpful here.
I do not like Renault Cars, but never I would let her die like the Sweden did with the olde lady SAAB Auto. They say together in chor "we can not go against the market law and I want my money back".
- There you have! Say good bye to to your heritage silly sons!
Sorry, I am angry.
Swedish people have been so unwilling for SAAB. Lack of ambitions probably. They will pay the bill, later, to the chinese.
@eti067 I Also think that the Sweeds did'nt care about Saab, but at least half of the swedish population are going to be affected of the shutdown of saab. I am so angry on the governemet.... The new governement is fucking up everything, school, work, everything. I live in Sweden so thats why i am so frustrated of them....
thanks for your words. I wish more sweden would react like you with less fatalism.
I am french: whatever mentality we have, Renault, Peugeot, Citroën are still on their knees and french property!
Volvo is now to the chinese (for how long?... If technology is now the main interest for Asia indead).
Saab is dead.
What is the industrial future for Sweden? Where will go this heritage, this know-how and at least the "money back"?... That are the main question involved.
I understand why everyone feels compelled to talk shit about GM. Why not they're an easy target. But SAAB went under because a lot of people think their cars were ugly, not to mention they had terrible mechanical issues. And that predates GM. Sorry to burst your bubble. I completely understand brand loyalty. However I don't let that cloud my judgment. SAAB was doomed.
Terrible mechanical issues? I've owned 4 Saabs in my short life and none of them had that. GM destroyed Saab by trying to turn it into a more luxurious Opel, instead of recognizing it as a niche player.
this criticism is subjective and so faulse. Just have a look to the old SAAB market. 200.000km (150miles) is just a beginning for old SAAB. As far as their look is concern, maybe your preferences go for PONTIAC, CHRYSLER... Then I could not help you to move your judgement in a SAAB enthousiast way: the differences are just too much like two separated world. One only has driven a SAAB can understand what we are talking about here. By the way the new models were so promissing...
@eti067 SAAB had terrible issues. Your loyalty blinds you.
Haha, pontiac? Perhaps Chrysler, but ONLY because I'm a Jeep guy. So I fully understand brand loyalty, but that's a Jeep thing and you wouldn't understand. My Love for Jeep though does not interfere with the fact that they often have reliability issues. The kicker is that when performing well a Jeep will not be second to anything off-road.
SAAB had a ton of problems that predated GM. Stop with this brand loyalty nonsense.
who has been the criminal so far but GM? It holds 100 percent of SAAB if you allow me to remind you. And it is very easy for the main owner (GM) to spoil a non significant brand : GM has been putting out SAAB for the party during 20 years. We, european people are responsable of this. Sweden shall be ashamed of it.
Look man, I'm not trying to anger you SAAB loyalists. I thought the recent SAAB SUVs were quite attractive and clean looking, but SAAB's business model obviously does not seem to be adequate in this day and age. Again, I'm a Jeep guy. Jeep people invented radical loyalism in terms of auto brands, ha. I thought SAAB brought interesting ideas to the table. But again, its model was of old. In any case, Toyota and Honda employee's are pushed so hard for next to nothing. Can't do that in the West.
@mtb416 i will admit Saab when GM had it was complete crap, every new model coming out had more and more plastic on the interior and more and more defects. However! If you look beck to the old 9000 series and the older saabs, then and only then you will see the sheer brilliant of engineering craftsmanship. My father bought one way back when and it still runs great!
