I listen to Internet stations in my car all the time! I have a BlackBerry Storm. There are several apps available for listening to Internet radio. I run a mini-stereo adapter out of my headphone input on my BB to a cassette player input adapter and I have instant Internet radio on the road. At home I run a mini-stereo cord from my BB to my powered Bose speakers and I have Internet radio on the counter top in my kitchen, living room or bathroom. The days of terrestrial (local) radio is over.
I can't believe here in 2009 that there aren't several simple standards for Internet Car Radio that doesn't rely on an expensive cell data plan that requires a "rube goldeberg" configuration in order to listen to "any" internet radio stations via an in dash "wimax or satellite" internet radio only service built into the device.
This would easily be a Billion Dollar market if some company had the cojones to market this!
This is true... the only problem is that you're relying on the cell phone or whatever portable device to power the live streaming, which means draining your cell phone battery. I know a car phone charger would solve that issue, but it's nice to not need to hook up and connect a whole bunch of stuff just to get access.
Also, what if I'm using my blue tooth headset for my cell phone, would it still work on the car stereo??
