  • This is in black and white...and still no cure?

  • There is no doubt Jerry has raised a great deal of money for a good cause.

    But what an egomaniac!

    2 examples:

    1. Every yr he says he hopes to raise more the next yr! Why doesn't he say he hopes not to need to be back next yr?

    2. Why does Jerry get top billing over the disease? Why isn't it called MD telethon starring Jerry Lewis?

He's done a lot of good, but what an ego.

  • If Jerry had paid more attention to his own biological kids including his illegitimate daughter who by the way is friends with his oldest son Gary, maybe people wouldn't question his motives. Jerry only acknowledges his daughter publicly and doesn't mention his boys by ex wife Patti.

  • Hey check out the 2010 Walk On song he did compared to this clip . . It's on You Tube now 9/7/2010

  • @pompom11 that 2010 video was probably the most atrocious most pathetic attempt at schmaltz yours truly had ever seen. Jerry needed to be ashamed of himself after that. No wonder pledges are down, it's not all Obongo's fault, (though he is largely responsible too) but Jerry acts like an ass because he's a manchild an 84 year old manchild. Shame on him.

  • Not being funny. I have worked for the scam. Its a scam. Its a concert ticket/ figherfighter/ medical industry scam. They dont show the poor MDA people and it pisses me off every year. It is so sugar coated and upper upper middle class for TV.

  • Too much emotion... love this guy so much, and his work :).

  • I am so anti MDA it's unbelievable. It's not the cause - that is a real issue. It's the organization. It is very inefficient, and frankly, I haven't seen much progress in the past, what, 45 years? I did 4 MDA carnivals when I was a kid and raised something like $100 for each (remember, this was the late 1960's). The last carnival MDA lost our money and didn't acknowledge our effort. I saw this repeated year after year - screw the MDA.

  • Thank you Jerry for having a huge heart-I love you with all my <3 U are MY idol

  • This is from 1962

  • you can tell Jerry was really fighting back tears, it so sad. We hope you find the cure! we know you will Jerry!

  • RIP JERRY LEWIS!

  • What? He's not resting anywhere. He's alive and well!

  • You know he's alive. Stop bein' dumb.

  • @McNelly92 hes not dead!!!! lol hes alive and kickin

  • its a nice gensture.... but find a disease that is more likely to be cured... he's been raising money for over 50 some years... and his KIDS havent taken ONE STEP.. not one

  • Jerry Lewis is an American artist, which means he will always rub some folks the wrong way. But his American way of pointing to himself drives some up a wall. Yet like America, he has been innovative, his ceaseless charity woirk is untouchable. When he and Dean were together they were as big as The Beatles, followed by crowds that numbered in the thousands. His films THE NUTTY PROFESSOR, THE BELL BOY, THE PATSY and more have stood the test of time. Could there be a Jim Carrey without him?

  • Thankyou Jerry! and Rest In Peace Ed McMahon

  • O-

Everyone wants to be a winner-and

When one really gets to the grass roots of the totality in life-

    The matter is simply-

    "How One Plays The Game"

    "DJerryLewisTelethoN-AcademyAward"

    fair de paris

    wed her

  • Those who think Jerry is not really emotionally attached to this wonderful thing he has done since 1966 are real tools. If you noticed he got so emotional at the end of the song he could not finish it. To this day he still gets emotional. We may never know what drives him for this telethon but I thank our lucky stars he has done this.

  • jb i thoink you mean if it wasnt for jerry lewis those kids would still be in quarentine.

  • Jerry Lewis is finally receiving his well deserved Academy Award for his humanitarian work... Why doesn't he get an award for his entire film career? He deserves that too!

  • I agree with you totally Pammy!!!

  • I think I'm going to be sick... Not at the kid dying but at the treatment of his "tragic" death. Anyone who supports Jerry Lewis is confusing empathy with pity- the most vile emotion there is.

  • Ridiculous statement. Jerry Lewis expresses empathy for the victims of the disease. In this case he's expressing remorse at a death, a missed friend.

  • i have Jerry Lewis Telethon clip

    his pants come down

  • this man gives hope to millions of people around the world.. 1.5 billion dollars he has raised! what a true American he is

  • I have Watched this telethon from the time that i could understand it. Every year since i have given money to them and raised some too. God bless ya Jerry you have done a great job all of these years.

  • There are people who have critised Jerr for his involvement in raising money for MD, they should watch this clip; because if that isn't a man pure of heart, I don't know who is. I have never seen anything more open and honest, more heartfelt. I love Jerry through and through, but seeing clips like this makes me love him even more. He's a truely beautiful man, God chose well.

  • I am so with you Pammy! Why anyone would try to defame or ridicule this wonderful humanitarian is beyond me. Jerry says you only come this way once, so do the best you can do. Oh, he has!

  • You can tell Jer is trying so hard not to let it all out. Oh gosh...this made me cry. Jer couldn't take it. Wow. What a wonderful man, to try to help all of these kids in need.

  • God bless the kids who don't know they're being pitied and seen as less than human because they're strictly viewed through the lens of their disease all so people like you can help the "poor angels" aww how sweet. if it were up to Jerry those with disabilities would still be quarantined in their houses. He says a lot of heartwarming stuff but his sighs at 1:04, 1:14, and 1:48 say a lot about how he really views those he "helps" every year. Actions speak louder than words.

  • I pity your ignorance!!!!! I can say that because I am a 26 year old person with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. I am an Eagle Scout, and I have a Masters Degree. However because of my disablility I can only work part time at lower paying jobs. Marriage and family arent an option for me. I got my degree without any help, but I need all the help I can get from good people if there is ever going to be a cure for my disease. However I will gladly take my physical handicap over your mental any day!

  • There is no way you're as stupid as you comment sounds. I know your post was a full year ago (& I hope you got smarter in that time). But, I'm just now seeing it. The man would not do this shit every year for 50 fucking years if he wasn't serious about. He works on this all year long (it's not just the telethon). Dopes like you is why YouTube shouldn't exist.

  • This was really hard to watch; I can only imagine what Jerry has gone through seeing these kids pass on like that, it's not right. For a man of his era to be so in touch with his emotions is remarkable. God did well in choosing Jerry to do his work for him, he's amazing in every way. I will love him for all of my life, you go Jerr.xxx

  • that is so sad. that those non prift assholes get to pile their money on jerrys desk every year, only 10%though

  • What year is this??

  • This could have been seen on

    WNEW(Formerley WABD Later WNEW

and now WNYW TV Ch.5 in NYC)from

the 1960's..Ed Ladd was Jerry's first

    announcer.

  • wow!!

  • I love it. I remember growing up and trying to stay up all night to watch the entire telethon. Watching him singing and trying not to cry made and still makes me cry. Seeing him not be able to finish the song because he gets so chocked up brings it all home. I know they will find a cure, I just hope he'll be able to see it because he's done so much and I think he deserves it. Every year I will be on my couch watching.

  • yeah i agree.

  • Did he walk off at the end because he was about to burst into tears?

    Aw that's so sad :(

It really meant alot to him...

    He is beyond amazing

  • I love this guy!

  • Can you imagine how many children Jerry has seen die from this?

  • This is wonderful! Thanks for uploading this! I love that song "Walk On" It makes me cry!
