  • I love this video and the music to it. Great work! Makes me wish I was there.

  • Awesome video!! Just did a trip from illinois to cali Colorado views were amazing

  • Wow ! Thanks for uploading . Nice scenery my wife and I drove from illinois to cali and colorado had awesome views!!

  • Man I miss Colorado. I did a year abroad at CU Boulder, and one of my all-time favourite experiences was driving across Colorado with a buddy. People from Colorado definitely seem to appreciate the environment they live in, but my mind was blown. God damn I miss those mountains.

  • Awesome Video. I did this drive last year around Nov. 1st or so. This is exactly what I saw, Thanks man. Just wanted to relive the drive. It sucked driving to Seattle though.

  • @cochrab - Estes Park is beautiful. We used to skip school and drive up to Estes Park and walk around the Stanley Hotel looking for spooky things, i.e., The Shining...lol. My best girlfriend actually got married in the Stanley Hotel. The Colorado Rocky Mountains are beautiful, and there is so much history and so much to see. I wish you safe travels and look forward to viewing more of your videos. I see you have recently uploaded a few more! :-)

  • @youtubingwithyou Lol, The Shining is one of my all time favorite movies! The Stanley would be a beautiful place for a wedding. We've stayed there on two separate occasions. We roamed the halls for hours looking for spooky stuff too! Thanks for the safe travel wishes and for watching my videos.

  • @cochrab - Regarding the subscription, you're most welcome! I can totally relate to your wife's anxiety on that drive to Mt. Evans. The bottom of my stomach was falling out just watching the video...lol. I bet Pike's Peak would be awesome. You should try Rollins Pass, amazing history. My parents took me over it as a child. My mom and I were so scared, we got out of the car and walked, while my dad drove. Google it...but if you drive, don't even think about taking your wife...lol!

  • @cochrab - After they transported us by ambulance to a little tiny medical center and checked us out, the Colorado Highway Patrol took us up to my car in Farmer's Korner. I took photos of it (which I still have) and we retrieved what belongings we could. Then the CHP dumped us off in Silverthorne and put us on a bus and sent us back to Boulder...lol. The bus ride home wasn't too much fun. Amazing we lived and without more serious injuries; no seat belts back in those days!

  • @cochrab - Yes, it was scarier than hell. I never thought the car was going to stop rolling. My girlfriend was a passenger in the car. She had a bruise on her thigh, that's it. She was more concerned about her shoe that she lost and at all the people stopping to stare and taking photos; she proceeded to flip them all the bird...lol. I grew up in Boulder and lived there at the time we were on our way skiing. Don't live in Colorado anymore.

  • @youtubingwithyou What a story! We stayed in Estes Park (at the Stanley Hotel) while we were out there. I drove through Boulder several times on Rt 36 between getting to Estes Park and going back to Mt Evans, etc. I like how you can see Denver off in the distance from some of those hills. Your girlfriend flipping off the passers by cracked me up! I will look up Rollins Pass for sure, I've never heard of it. I live in Ohio and don't get out that way often enough.

  • @cochrab - I have viewed your video on your drive to Mt. Evans! After my accident, I pretty much developed a fear of mountain driving and have never ventured up there. Awesome footage! I have subscribed to your channel and look forward to watching more videos. Thanks for the great work. Keep it up! :-)

  • @youtubingwithyou Thank you for the subscription, I'm glad you like the videos. I travel all over the country so the footage should be diverse. I totally understand your aversion to mountain driving, my wife was on the edge of her seat on that whole Mt Evans drive. She also informed me that I will likely be making that drive by myself next time. Next time I get to Colorado, I want to drive Pike's Peak!

  • @cochrab - Thanks! I was driving a Mazda RX-3, my first car, following a snow plow in the far right lane. I came up on it too quickly, and I over corrected the wheel to avoid rear-ending it. My left wheels got caught up in a very fine patch of slush in the road (actually the roads were pretty much dry other than this slush). The car did a 180-degree turn in the middle of I-70, and the car moved backwards, until the back wheels caught the edge of the embankment and flipped us over the edge.

  • @youtubingwithyou Wow, what a scary story! Was your passenger(s) ok? Were you on vacation or do (did) you live in CO? Again, I'm glad you were ok, I can't imagine a ride like that...

  • @cochrab - This brings back a lot of memories. On March 26, 1979, I rolled my car off the westbound lanes of I-70 while driving to go skiing at A-Basin. I rolled end-over-end down the grassy embankment approximately six times, and my vehicle went airborne twice, bouncing off large boulders as it rolled along. My car finally landed upright on the shoulder of the eastbound lanes of I-70, facing westbound, at 00:16. Luckily, I survived with only a broken collarbone, although my car was totaled.

  • @youtubingwithyou First of all, I'm glad you survived with (considering the severity of the crash) only minor injuries. What kind of vehicle were you in? Was the accident caused by snow and/or ice? Thanks for watching and commenting. Hopefully some of my other videos could bring back more positive memories. lol

  • Enjoyed the video. Nice clean photography! What type of camera and editing software did you use? I have ridden/drove this stretch of road several times. Check out some of my motorcycle trip videos by searching for "kkechter" if you like.

  • @kkechter Thanks. I filmed this with a Kodak Zi8 recorder mounted to the windshield with a fabricated suction cup mount. The video was edited with the Arcsoft MediaImpression software which came with the camera. It is a bare-bones basic program, but it gets the job done. I recently purchased VideoPad Video Editor which has a lot more capability and features. To date, my Tribute to Cincinnati is the only video I have released using this software.

  • Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!

  • Beautiful, Thank you.

  • I'll be going along here late January on my way to Denver. I was wondering how does the road hold up at that time of year? I'm from Australia and only a beginner driver so I've got ZERO snow driving experience, so I'm a little worried about the conditions. Does it get very icy? Cheers :)

  • @ryanaus04 If you have never driven in snow, I don't recommend driving through here in late January. This area (to my best knowledge) gets lots of snow. Tire chains might be required (I know they are on trucks). Where are you going to be driving from?

  • @cochrab Thanks for replying mate. I'll be coming from Vegas making my way into Kansas. How hard is it to drive in snowy conditions? Is it just a case of going slow and being careful when braking?

  • @ryanaus04 If it were me, I'd probably take a more southern route and avoid the Rockies and the snow. Not only do you have to drive more carefully in the snow, you also have to watch out for everybody else. I would consider crossing Arizona and New Mexico, then going north toward Kansas.

  • Thanks for the ride.

  • @g1cast Thank you for watching!

  • This time I'll have to let you do the driving since I can't get that far from home now, which is Charleston, SC. I'll look forward to see your next vid. Check out Freewayjim's posts on Charleston if you've never been here!

  • @socarboy Actually, I have not been to Charleston (SC) so I will have to check out FreewayJim's videos. I've heard it's a truly beautiful Southern town. FreewayJim does great work, so I know the videos will be top notch. Thank you for watching and posting!

  • Aboslutely stunning video! Thankyou so much for making & posting it!

  • @socarboy I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for watching and taking time to comment! I have another video you might like coming out on Sep 30. It is I-70 eastbound through Glenwood Canyon (also in Colorado). Hope to see you there!

  • Really nice, I was there in summer 1978, driving alone. Great video, thanks a lot, you save me a trip.

  • @TheSonoranscape Thanks for watching, I'm glad you liked it. Hope it brought back nice memories!

  • Nice video lol brings back memories for me to..

  • @InterstateKyle Thank you!

  • thanks for the video Brian. brings back memories of just a month back..

  • @ScrewdUPClickV2 Thanks for watching Brian. I'm glad you liked it!

  • What is the title of the song??

  • @MrGrzala The song is called "Rubina" by Joe Satriani. It is on a CD called "Not of this Earth"

  • @cochrab Thank you:)

  • Thanks for the upload Brian. This route brings back some distant memories.

  • @eluko79 Thanks Luke, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for posting.

  • Excellent job with the video! I'm vacationing in Colorado this week and I was just on the Eisenhower Pass just a few hours ago.

  • @scottman895 Thanks for watching and for posting! I hope your trip is a good one and a safe one.

  • Nice vid, Brian. They did a great job constructing that freeway through those mountains.

  • @Bryant5493 Thanks Bryant! Yes, it is a beautiful stretch of freeway and a pleasure to drive.

  • Construction on the first bore (the current westbound section) was started in Mar, 1968 and was completed in Mar, 1973. This is the Eisenhower Tunnel, and it carried one lane going each direction. Traffic exceeded expectations, and the second bore (the current eastbound section, called the Johnson Tunnel) was constructed between Aug, 1975 and Dec 1979. It is quite a feat of engineering.

  • Amazing video! The tunnel was unbelievable, do you know how long it took to complete? Words to describle this highway, tunnel, and scenery....fail me

  • .. fascinating to see a freeway at 11,000+ft, we don't have a mountain over 7500ft ! Great vid Brian ..

  • @GeoffJennyOliver Thanks Geoff! The Rocky Mountains are really something to see. The camera does not do the climb proper justice, it's so much more impressive in person. I would love to visit Australia someday and see the sights and roads there!!

  • Cool ! There are no same tunnels in Ural's mountains here in Russia.

  • @AndreyPurtov Do you have videos? I would like to see them.

  • @cochrab, unfortunately, I haven't :(

  • Nice ride, Brian! Enjoyed it immensely.

  • @georgiaroadgeek Thanks Steve!!

  • Any drive though the Rocky Mountains is awesome. Favourited!

  • @cadmusdixon92 Thank you very much! I'm glad you liked it.

  • What an awesome looking drive, I have to get out there! You can't go wrong with Satch on the soundtrack either :)

  • @Freewayjim Yes, by all means go out that way. Make sure to include Utah when you go! I figured you'd like the Satch tune. :)

  • Man you just got to love the Rocky Mountains. I've been through the Eisenhoward Tunnel a couple of times

  • @interstateruler The Rockies are great! Thanks for watching and for the comment!

  • @cochrab No problem at all
