One of my favourites.Reminds me of family sing songs and in particular of my uncle Fr Hugh Beattie.I feel I can still hear him singing.Wonderful song.Wonderful uncle.Wonderful country
Best rendition hands down is by Anthony Kearns. With his own personal connection to the story behind the song, he sings it with a fervor and intensity that is unmatched. Not to mention an amazing voice.
I am indebted to him and the Irish Tenors because through their songs, they taught me the stories behind my Irish heritage.
I live about a mile from his homeplace. His mother and himself are two of the most stuckup ignorant people in the area and thats not only my opinion. He may be a great singer but by God he'd look right through you as if you weren't there.
Our revenge shall be the laughter of our children.-Bobby Sands.
May all the souls of brave Irishmen who died for what was in right in rebellion and disgust of foreign rule. Well known and secret they're all martyrs.
What a brilliant song! The only other rebel song that comes close to matching it in my opinion is Sinead O'Connor/The Chieftains version of The Foggy Dew. Ironic really that we wouldn't have this very rich culture only for our troubled past.

Disgrace. The Irish have gone all over the world as immigrants and for the first time in hundreds of years you have a net gain. The Irish biggest, most successful export was its people. I am of Irish descent in Scotland and know well how the Irish immigrants weren't exactly welcomed and you are doing the same thing to people moving to Ireland. What short memory you have. Your philosophy and rhetoric is akin to the BNP.
Illegal immigrants? How many Irish stayed in the US without a green card?
I take onboard what you are saying and i should mae it clear that migrants from other EU countries share our values and beliefs as opposed to non europeans. What sparked irish immigration?? Whats unique about ireland?? When the brits starved millions to death?? War, tyranny, rape, slavery???
An english or french man has a right to complain about reckless immigration and they had empires but i dont?? Listen to the song, our people lead into battle by a poor priest. i feel no guilt
An English or a French man? What, like Jean Marie Le Pen, or Nick Griffin? I live in Belgium (so am an immigrant) and there are plenty of Irish here (all immigrants) and they have come here for the work, the same as many people moving to Ireland. There are over 50% non-Belgians living in Brussels - the only people complaining about it are the Vlaams Belang. Check them out.
People don't move to another country for the social security. Other EU countries share your values? What exactly does that mean? As long as your not an Iraqi, a Turk, a Bangladeshi? Would a Brazilian share some of your 'values'?
17.4 per cent of dole claimants in Ireland are foreign nationals even though they are only ca. 13-15 per cent of the population. [You can bet your right arm that the true figure is closer to 20-25%]
Almost a sixth of those on the live register are now foreign nationals from EU or non-EU countries.
I am wrong to have concern with immigration, its not a complex issue, it has not caused any social chaos in other EU countries and everyone gets along............note my sarcasm!!
those same "migrants" had to leave their countries for the same reasons Irish people had to leave Ireland over the centuries - why would Ireland not welcome them ..?
This is a good version...I still think the best rendition of this song was given by tenor Anthony Kearns, himself a Wexford man and related to Irish rebel preist Mogue Kearns who fought alongside Fr. John Murphy in 1798. There is a full orchestra complete with drums and Kearns voice evokes all the passion and pride that have fueled Ireland's fight for freedom.

Id say this is the greatest Irish Rebel song, and im a dub. It reprsents the true Irish rebels and not the thrash we seen in recent times.
This song is about the true heros who started it all

________________IRISH PATRIOTS_______________
1 in 7 people in Ireland are non-nationals. 400,000 legal immigrants and at least 200,000 illegal!
The only organisation that whants to put a limit on immigrants is the Immigration Control Platform (I.C.P)
Look at the massive problems othere European countries are having because they are an insight to the future of Ireland!
Race or colour,s not an issue its how long our culture will last?
Please support the I.C.P
