  • Growing up every now and then I would find a friend, useally a girl around my age. We would often hit off very quickly. They would often have fits if they could not be around me. Looking back, I was probably the clostest to a friend they could relate to. If I am correct, the number of girls and boy in the AS are close to 50/50. The reason I susbect those girls were AS wsa becasue I felt the same way and I'm high funtioning autistic.

  • She is clicking a pen, I do the same thing. I try not to because I know it is annoying!

  • I was only recently diagnosed, at present I am 15. It took dropping out from school and being depressed to finally get my diagnosis. It truly does deserve more research.

  • two people at the speed of love you because we are asperians

  • I think it''s a typing noise...

  • I can't rate this video. I agree with some things she says but I disagree with her on other things.

  • I remember when my breasts developed, I was so confused and emotionally traumatized. I was very stressed out growing up about anything in particular and had amenorrhea a lot growing up and still do, which I attribute to AS.

  • asperger syndrome ,is an artificial construct. it's so completly subjective and arbitrary,as to be next to useless.

  • Is that clicking a test? MY GOD

  • sorry "asperger syndrome." i wasn't thinking.

  • insightful! i loved the insight about how women with asperger's are often diagnosed with personality disorders.

  • eeeouch, clicking

  • I just found out I have aspergers and while this was informative it was also extremely annoying because of the clicking noise... it was like torture in my ears. You should consider making a similar video but with better quality.

  • Is this some kind of joke to make sure we can't watch this ourselves??? CLICKING MAKES ME WANT TO PUT MY FIST THROUGH THE SCREEN!!!!!!

  • I guess all people with Asperger's are stenographers. But honestly, WTF is that clicking noise!?

  • I actually credit Aspergers for my ability to do my own thing and not let myself get bogged down by peer pressure. I wear whatever I like, listen to the music I enjoy instead of the music that's 'in', and pursue the things I am passionate about. I don't feel the need to conform to social standards. Of course that didn't go over well when I was a kid and a teen and I was bullied for it. But as an adult it's liberating. I do not impose my ideas on other people, I wouldn't like it to happen to me.

  • I am a woman and it has recently been brought to my attention that I may have AS. I am currently diagnosed with paranoid personality disorder although I don't have the characteristics of this disorder (pervasive distrust of others...) I am often told I trust people too easily and I am naive. I can relate to every single thing you say in this video, and my current therapist and her colleague deny the possibility because I am such a "social" being. But I am an "inappropriate" social being.

  • thank you for this wow... there we have the truth, they dont often find it in women and if we make it into adulthood, it still remains undiagnosed till we ourselves are learned enough to actually realise there is and issue. why are we the way we are, why have we felt so isolated our whole lives? and why do they keep missing it in women? its who we are.

  • @ohiogrinder Hey! I am too! At least near nutjob zealots... it scares them away very effectively! >:D

  • Hi there. I am a sufferer of Asperger Syndrome. I appreciated your video and understand your point. Please could you check out my video and feel free to comment. I can emphasise from a school perspective, feeling different from everyone else. Best wishes, I have also produced a book detailing my own personal experiences of this.

  • Thank you for this!!!

  • Are you clicking a pan?

  • what the hell is that clicking noise LOL I cant watch this its annoying me

  • @ssputnikinthesky figures. Aspergers guys have the worst time dating girls. Women just don't get us.

  • @ohiogrinder i have aspergers im a guy ... i totaly agree with u

  • @ohiogrinder I have it and figured what the hell. I would rather be alone the rest of my life than be with bad company for one minute. Who care's all I want is the quiet and comfortable life on my own but the problem is everytime I make a step towards that comfortable life nature throw's another relationship problem my way or I get a whistle in the street or something else comes along to muck it all up. I do not women and car's I want a nice quiet hard working life in the country.

  • Dude fuck the lord. I'm Aspergers, and I am a laveyan satanist.

  • @ohiogrinder lol curse you

  • I know a girl who writes poetry. She has to be AS. She seems very sad.

  • Please guys do a bit of research into the link between vaccines and autism.

Also look up Andrew Wakefield. This man is a saint in my opinion, he was struck off for doing research into the link between vaccines and autism and the big medical industry tried to destroy him because vaccines means BIG MONEY to them and thats all they care about. Not about us. Also I recommend prayer and the healing power of the Holy Spirit - there is NO no infirmity or sickness that cannot be healed by the Lord.

  • a year or 2 ago I discovered that there was a link between autism and the shit they put in vaccines and realised that my personality changed completely and nearly died after receiving a round of shots at age 2. I put my faith in the Lord and was healed of this condition by the holy spirit at a christian prayer group. I am grateful 4 my experiences w/ aspergers because it has given me a greater capacity for empathy 4 others, knowing how little i was understood by others as i went thru life.

  • i just want 2 give ppl with this condition some hope. I was on th spectrum all my life and have been healed of it finally at age 30. had a lot of probs but have finally been healed by the Lord. my path brought me 2 an ecumenical Christian prayer group of the pentecostal-charismatic renewal and 2 lay healers of strong faith prayed over me and I got healed. the Lord also healed my OCD. I want ppl out ther 2 know that with a little faith u 2 can also be healed of this little understood condition.

  • Sorry, I can not pay attention anymore because the clicking.

P.S.Im an asperger girl apparently. My ex psychiatrist said to me that women do not have asperger.

  • It's exactly because women can get away with being studious and "quiet" and not doing well at sports that women outnumber men in universities today and will make up the majority of our leaders in the future. Is that why the NRA's spending so much money?

  • Much more acceptable for a female. Women are judged on attractiveness mostly. Look as attractive as possible, learn makeup and hair and dress and keep quiet. Pull that off and you'll do OK. Remember that there are many women that can do that and are complete headcases and they do fine in our very superficial world.

  • @JohnnyRock2000 Your writing and insight are awesome. Have you authored any articles or books?

  • This is extremely rare in women. I wish it wasn't. (more women who understand me)

  • That clicking is really obnoxious. I was trying to pay attention to the video but just could not.

  • that sound is so annoying. most likely bcuz im an aspie.

  • The klicking sound was driving me insane!

  • i was just dianoised with aspergers and i am 24 years old almost 25 years old so i know how that is i am female only reason i was labled this was cause i was tested for other things and everything was ruled out other then this and adhd and i have both they say

  • What about men and aspberger's syndrome? Why don't male aspies matter?

  • @LycanthropicAsshole There isn't the same problem of professionals failing to diagnose aspergers in males. It tends to get overlooked in females. There is a dearth of information everywhere on men with Aspergers. There's even a feature film made about a male with Aspergers.Trust me you guys matter.

  • @LycanthropicAsshole Its alot tougher for us guys i think because of all the Macho Bull in the N.T world. Its more acceptable for a girl to appear shy or vunrable not for guys though.

  • Really wanted to watch this but the clicking drove me insane! :(

  • Comment removed

  • Wait you have aspergers? You just seem like a shy person. Or maybe I have aspergers. Which could explain some things...

  • You are describing me right donw to a T. The troubke making friends, not being interested in what other girls are, etc etc etc. Or not being able to relate to others very well. I was told it was neurological.

Well the problem is with me.

I was looking for stuff like this. I was born with autism and asperger's syndrome, was diagnosed at age 21 even though I am a lady now I still have it. Mom told me my brain will never change. You are right it is hard to make friends. We are not socializes.

  • My wife and I both have it. Holly, my wife, has it worse than I do.

We're both very quiet individuals, which works well for us being together. We both suffer from anxiety in different ways and from different triggers. Crowds drive us crazy though.

  • I was very confused when girls my age got interested in boys etc too.. that did not come untill I was 18. Then all of a sudden the backstreet boys became interesting, 5 years after the rest 0.o

  • What is the freak noise? i cant listen mf.

  • Gosh, are you clicking a pen in the video? Sorry, couldn't help but notice it....

  • What I can't stand about modern psychology is it tries to label everyone who doesn't fit in as aspergers-well at least in recent years.

Some people simply aren't interested in others (often because they see through them). They like to study things and follow their own interests in the peace and quiet. I think the lady in the video is like this.

  • comment

  • the clicking is driving me crazy!

  • That noise gives me a bit of a headache, but the video was very informative!

  • I have Asperger's Syndrome. Do you think that is why I feel that I'm a woman?

  • lol

-the fact of the matter is: We are lone wolves ment to be on our own

-we are brains, were meant to live on our own, not necessarily on some plain snowy enviroment, but by our selves and produce ideas as well as philosophies

-Keep studying keep exercising you look great compared to other aspie chicks!

  • I'm not diagnosed with AS (at least not yet, i'm going to go through tests soon), but I recognised a lot of the things you talked about.

  • that you said about fashion and stuff fit in on my friend she wasnt intrested off that and boys so her parents just thought she was gay

she didnt really like being around people talking and stuff

luckly she´s diegnosed now (sorry for bad spelling)

  • Hi Laura.

Thank you so much for sharing your information. I would love to invite you to view my video pitch for a screenplay I've written about a young woman with high functioning aspergers. I could sure use the support of the asperger's syndrome community. I want to pitch my story idea in Los Angeles by getting alot of 'LIKE' votes for my video pitch. Would you consider helping me out? Thank you so much. My screenplay is called, "Dancing for Maria."

  • I have often wondered if a dating site geared towards autism and asperger's would be viable to help get people of these syndromes together. Because there also seems to be people that have this and find it hard to go through usual communication and subtlety's. I say this because I have trouble with body langauge and subtle cues. direct language and saying what a person feels seems more natural to me.

  • @4SCARECROWS both myself and my partner appear to have aspergers syndrome although it has never been diagnosed in either of us. the problem only seems to become an issue when we argue the arguments as they tend to go round and round in circles as we seem to have problems communicating our feelings to each other. we also seem to have problems recognising what the other person feels and knowing when we are understood which just leads to a lot of shouting and frustration

  • @4SCARECROWS I see what your saying. I guess on that I was thinkingt that maybe it's how one aspie can relate to the other, in knowing that there are difficulties in communicating. Perhaps some people would say patience would could be applied. However I do see that it can be almost like speaking a different language even when two people are talking are speaking the same language even the body language throws someone off. You know what I mean? Good point and thank you for replying ; )

  • @jaguarclaw - I don't know why your comment was voted down because I understand what you've written and I know exactly what you're talking about. Do you know the Esther and Jerry Hicks books or their recordings?

  • I'm sure that I am an Aspie but when I went to get a diagnosis, the doctor spent a grand total of 20 minutes with me and was very dismissive. I have accepted that my peculiarities are Asperger's and now I won't bother with a diagnosis because I'm older now and it wouldn't make much difference in my life.

Borderline personality disorder? Ha! That was what the doctor wrote on my records and I know he got it wrong.

  • what's that annoying clicking sound? sounds like a pen

  • @vegunited06 My webcam makes annoying noises like that too. :\ Downside of buying a cheap one.

  • what is that clicking noise i didn't understand a word you were saying cus of it

  • Couldn't watch that clicking noise was too much to sit through.... wish some of these were captioned.

  • Information about women and Asperger's is very rare and hard to find. If you have any more to share on the subject I'd be very interested to hear it.

    Thanks for this video.

  • I have AS but the clicking is getting me. is it a pen?

  • I am glad someone put this up, I have borderline asperger's and I need to know where to be to get a date :) Just kidding but it's nice to see more of us on youtube networking to share advice on how to deal with the monster inside of us.

  • @RightfullyReticent have you gotten a detention in your life? Are you in any Honors classes?

  • I'm a female w/ Aspbergers Syndrome but I approach people and stutter a lot. When I try making friends, I fail (except when it came to those w/ special needs) I'm always the last one to be picked (when projects require partners) because I felt like an outsider. When I try to socialize, they seem like they hate me. Like RightfullyReticent said, I want to be alone all the time.

My school has a Sensory Room.

  • @IceChateau777 The reason why some women who go to a doctor have to talk more is like those people on "Mystery Diagnosis". The bad docs think they're crazy. Depicting on gender, the percentage of women w/ aspbergers is about 0.8-20% in North America.

  • i want you bad baby

  • Oh I would of just ravaged you back in the day =P

  • thank you for helping me to feel like i'm not alone.

  • Thank you so much for this video - I feel like someone understands me when normally I feel alone as a girl :)

  • awesome video! I think i have aspergers and i have been diagnosed bipolar and wouldn't you know, borderline even once

  • Congratulations that must have been really difficult for you to make. Firstly for you to maintain eye contact for that long and for you to appear so unstressed about the subject. You did a great job of explaining it. My daughter has AS as well. thanks.

  • My sister has been diagnosed with bpd, but she also is DEFINITELY an aspie. She fits bpd to a tee, though, complete with fear of abandonment, being harmful only to those she loves and trusts and drastic, constant swings back and forth in feelings about whether someone is good or bad.

Do you believe these two conditions can coexist, or could that all be Asperger's?

    Thanks.

  • I agree. I really don't understand all the hatred I see on here about it.

  • I do feel that most women are "over social"...LOL I realize that I'm just under social, but their social behaviors are annoying to me.

  • i can´t focus on seeing this video because of the irritating clicking sound!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @gregjockca1001 Like, irk. That's so me that needs to be me cooked alive.

  • @lllRavenlll

nope not wrong planet... wrong country.

i think we need to take over antartica when the world warms up and the poles shift.

  • She talks a lot, but doesn't say much.

She didn't really have any important medical information on this.

It gets moderatly interesting at 2:00, but doesn't really go into detail about the effects of AS on girls compared to boys.

It's not until the very end, when she promotes her book, that it's clear why she made this vid.

  • I cannot listen to this because of that clicking sound it is driving me nuts

  • I can't listen to this because of the ticking. do it again please

  • what is that annoying ticking sound? I was waiting for something to explode! lol. but good video, i'm learning a lot about the symptoms of asperger's in girls

  • Asperger syndrome in women is very rare.

Growing up with aspergers is really hard, but the main issue is that its not our fault. The grand majority of people in this world are assholes that just don't get us.Its their fault for not understanding.

  • Is it rare? Or just less noticed because the research is mostly on boys/males?

  • I think you are right. There is a lot of pressure on women in general and especially so for Asperger's Syndrome. My daughter is autistic as well as myself and my son. She's 5 and has a difficult time navigating the social highway of school.

  • It's definitely no cakewalk for guys either...we're expected to lead the way in social interactions with the opposite sex, but that seems next to impossible

  • AGREED ... so hard...

  • i feel you

women aspies can just sit in the shade n people will approach them......for us thats a tough mountain to climb

  • @redteamdarkspear LOL tell me about it...

All to often I come across as a child and escape to focus on inanimate objects while speaking to them. hardly attractive. LOL

  • @redteamdarkspear I do agree with you there. BUT if you can be outgoing for the first few dates you're in the clear, because women usually do more of the emotional work in relationships and generally expect guys not to "get it".

  • @dave4248 She's not saying life is easier for boys with aspergers. What she's saying is that women are not diagnosed as often as boys, because women are expected to act a certain way that is more in line with aspergers. For example, when men don't look you in the eye, it's weird. When women don't look you in the eye, it's being shy. Men are expected to be manly growing up which can make the aspie symptoms worse. Women are expected to be feeling and girly, and so we learn how to fake it sooner.

  • @Manda314 BLAH BLAH BLAH LIFE SUCKS FOR MEN BECAUSE WOMAN THINK IT'S OK TO COMPLAIN TO US!!!

  • @redteamdarkspear It's even harder to be a bipolar aspergers syndrome affected transgender individual.

  • Thanks for the info

  • get life douchebag

  • you are awesome

  • Thank you.

  • You don't seem to understand asperger's...we get enjoyment and fulfillment, it's just from different things. If Einstein and Bill Gates have/had it, you can't make the argument that all people with Asperger's die insignificant either.

  • Okay first of all you need to provide me a diagnosis of them to prove that they have asperger's syndrome.

And secondly, wouldn't you like to have a full social life with lot's of love? Wouldn't you want to be a normal person if you could choose?

  • there's a lot to be said for enjoying one's solitude. peace & quiet, indulging in your own interests. nobody interrupting. If I choose to socialize I rather have it when I choose, & no more than a few people I Know very well, that accept & care about me. NO Sports,no concerts or public functions. waytoodisorientating. To be a 'fan' of any so called 'sport' I will never understand. It is illogical. Knowing God makes sense in my experience. He's always there in me & He helps me more than anyone.

  • Did anyone else notice the clicking sound in the background?

  • @Whiskerybeast thats the assburgers!

  • @Whiskerybeast

Yes, I couldn't watch this video due to it. It was too annoying.

  • @Whiskerybeast heard it right away - clicking of a pen I beleive.... (self stimulation - as we all do from time to time...)

  • @Whiskerybeast oh GAWD. drives me up the wall. im going to force myself and see if i can watch the rest of it...i made it 36 seconds in yay me.

  • ok i can't even focus. no idea what she said. she said women. that's all i'm sure of. how did she not notice the clicking???

  • @Whiskerybeast Yes, as an aspergirl, it was very annoying and I quit watching it.

  • @Svittidiu Good idea!

  • blah... Why is this a bad thing? Are we supposed to be just like everyone else... Why cant we have individual interests. And develope at different rates. Not everyone is the same. This is why lables happen.

  • Women with aspergers make outstanding behavioural therapist for kids with ASD. Hang in there.

  • no, don't kill yourself.

  • Sure you want asburgers? It's not fun and it leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

  • The ticking sound is great

  • i was I was diagnosed whith asperger .this year .not long time a go... 2009. 16 may... is clok on your video.sound make my craxy ehheheh ...... ticking sounds.let my ears not good.ahh sorry my english bye

  • Thank you for doing this video. I was diagnosed with BPD last year which I was horrified with since I do not engage in most of the behaviours described. I have since been diagnosed with Asperger's which suits me. It's appalling how certain Aspie behaviours are accepted in males but if a female does it, she has a personality disorder. I wouldn't say in all cases women have more subtle symptoms, I suppose I'm pretty "out there" with mine although I don't know any other Aspie girls to compare with.

  • if the world weren't so confusing, relationships would be a lot easier! how sad, that people get misdiagnosed as borderline. it's really stigmatizing, that dx. long time ago, i received a schizotypal personality disorder dx. believe it was mistaken. NLD and asperger's make so much more sense of my "puzzle of quirks!"

  • I get really frantic when someone doesn't make sense in what they're saying. I don't think that my thinking is fast, but some people's thinking is so much different, it does not make any sense what they come up with and it takes them long to come up with something that makes no sense to me. Does this make any sense...LOL... The most annoying thing is when I see someone acting unkind. I have AS.

  • i really dont see any difference with this girl and everyone else..suposively my girlfriend has aspergers syndrome but she is very normal and she is great such a wonderful girl and i really cant tell she seems pretty normal to me.....

  • I have Asperger's Syndrome and I am male. She speaks very well about her own experiences and insight. What is that annoying noise in the background? You have my sympathy

  • i had the same problem with my camera when making a film - except it was buzzing. i think it's cos i rested it on my xbox - either the tech inside the 360 or some of the metal upset the camera's working maybe?

  • ow

i couldn't listen to the video, the ticking was driving me mad.

    looks interesting though

  • Comment removed

  • Is that so?

  • I have alot of friends, and my whole class is like a big basket with friends!

I invite them, they invite me, we play game together and etc etc!!!

  • Is it possible to have the exact opposite of Asperger's? I tend to be overly empathetic to other peoples feelings and senses of humor. In social environments I tend to try to make everything flow smoothly, and make everyone roll on the ground laughing.

  • no, it's still autistic spectrum but on the other side of the scale. I have a lot of friends with Asperger's who are very sensitive to others, caring and kind (they also usually have a lot of time for animals) but that's still being neurologically different outside the 'norm'. Many artists, actors and musicians are like this, empathic with Asperger's

  • I will apologize again for the clicking. Something was wrong with my camera.

  • I figured that ticking would drive an aspie nuts.

  • Is that the number to a suicide hotline?

  • thank you for expalining that women can have asperegers...maybe now we won't be missed diagnosed so much

  • I'm 16 now and I think I've got AS...my bros have it so maybe its genetic? My mum reckons I do too but we can't get a test. All those things that you just said make sense to me, I am more like a 13/14 year old than a 16 yr old which makes things hard at school. I am not interested in fashion but I love scientific facts and documentaries. I can also tell you about any episode of Friends or Sexand The City or Ally Mcbeal. I am proud of who I am and thank you for making this video.

  • we think too fast and we have thousands of alternatives which confuse ohers and others confuse us because they are really confused by us .

  • I'm a 41 yo woman with AS. Growing up was horrific. My behavior and interaction with others caused pain for everyone associated with me although @ the time I had no clue what was going on and why I just couldn't fit in and why I couldn't make friends. Now I understand but that hasn't changed the fact that I have litterally no friends and no skills on how to make or maintain friendships. Knowledge is power but having the necessary skills would really help too!

  • i have aspergers, and i find it to be more of a gift than a "disability", with me i'm fairly normal when it comes to social situations, when i was in primary school i had troubles fitting in, but i learned the do's and don'ts of being social, i grew up, and got wiser, now i can say the only aspect of my life that my aspergers affects is my ability to concentrate.

  • dude.. you're just like me, lol!

Love reading but don't do much of it cuz of concentration, same with my writing and education shit...

    xXxhavaniceday!xXx

  • i have Asperger's Syndrome we a not diffrent just better than the rest of you

  • what is the tic tic sounds.. :S

  • dude that ain't cool

  • pdd-nos, thanks
