  • That is the model of efficiency...diesel engine in an aluminum boat. They should have manufactured them that way. You could probably tool around all day at about 3-4 gallons per hr! I figured it would be deafening to get it up on plane, and wow, that is loud!

  • @cheapeep36 Actually the 4-53 and the hydraulic winches are factory installations. The boat was a custom build by Marinette for the Idaho State Fish and Game Dept. as a survey / stock assessment trawler. She’s really noisy in the video because the sound proofing is vintage 1976 when the boat was built. Once the refit is completed the noise isn’t going to be an issue. In fact when the engine cover is down the noisiest place is inside.

  • Yup a Detroit Diesel... diesel fuel goes in and noise comes out. The boat will look better once the "Head Gear" is taken off.
