  • worst review ever, nice bike though

  • 69 second review???

  • Im sorry..but " review " is ass. Should be titled " My short opinion of this bike "

  • my grandads got a 700 yamaha virago (1978) with straight pipes

  • is it okay for it to scratch against the floor like that?

  • @GetWithTheFro You heard the scrub gaurd on the floor board. It's o.k. to let them when in the mountains. I try not to make a habit of it because the scrub gaurds will wear out. Just sounds worse than it actually is. But when you scrub your exhaust pipes, now theres a problem. It happens! ;)

  • I'm considering buying this bike but worry about the scraping in turns as shown in the video, the lean didn't look too far... My 2005 Suzuki C50T with floorboards scrapes at a prettty low angle... wonder if there's a way to lift the floorboards on the 950 or move them forward for better ground clearance?

  • i have a vstar 650 and the foot pegs scrape at about 38degrees, and i think the floor-boards are fixed in that position (not sure, check dealer)

  • Check out the V-Star custom clutch lever at clevverlever , com

  • nice machine...but if some guy thought this bike was worth $30 grand...he was drunk and stupid. Ok, maybe not drunk. Some of your NICE S&S customes don't cost that much. He didn't know what he was looking at.

  • booooring review

  • Check out the V-Star custom clutch lever at clevverlever , com

  • I love the bike ... but apparently they drink a lot in Northern Georgia at lunch time ... $30k ?!?!?!?!?! lol

  • wat

  • LOL, This was not a review, it was a yamaha comercial.

  • I've been riding 41 years this Dec. 09. Currently I am riding a 05 1100 VStar. Incredible Handling, Reliability and more that one can expect from a mid size cruiser. I absolutely love her!! Today's Harley's are a fine Motorcycle! However, That being said, Harley doesn't support Hunting, Boating, Off road Recreation, Power generating, Etc. Not only that, Some of the metric companies make a Damn fine Automobile, Suv, Truck, Robotics, and now just recently, Jet Air Craft!

  • Off topic remark: a average woman can do at least five things simultaneously, but non of them right at 100%.... ;-)

  • I bought the 950T as my first bike at 55 this Spring. I absolutely love her! Great handling.

  • they are so awesome! sucks i like sport bikes...

  • bought this bike 2 months ago, im 5'7" 165lbs so the bike fits me really well. as far as scraping the ground, not that bad, only did it once. its not going to blow the bigger bikes off the road but it does have really nice handleing and nice acceration. now, the gear box is a little clunky but never noticed until reading some of these post. so you really gotta be listening for it. as far as looks, size, and price, i think you will be hard pressed to find a better deal.

  • Almost all Yamaha' Have a "clunky" gear box.

Normal Typicle! Been that way for as long as I can remember. Even the dirt bikes/ Been riding 41 years this Dec. 09

But, what that actually is.. is a very positive strong shifting system. Very relieable/

    Enjoy your Bike!

  • whoever said 30,000 was a complete moron.

  • anyone can tell me the top speed of this bike?

  • falta potencia, diseño quemado. Very bad.

  • if your not peg scrapping you not riding hard.

  • What the hell is up with the floorboard and the scratching?

  • The bike sits low and he had to be cornering tight. I have the same bike, and unless you are really leaning into the turns you don't get that. If you do, there's a metal plate to take the abuse.

  • THX, good to know

  • I can't believe nobody is discussing how easy he scrapped the floorboards.

  • I have the 650, the bike is really low to the ground. i haven't scraped them yet but i slow down at turns like that.

  • yeah, right.........harley's priced themselves so far out of the market THEY are becoming extinct unless they do some MAJOR restructuring.

  • P.S. was trying to think of any cons .. the only 2 i can think of is the passenger seat might could be a little more comfortable(although i prefer riding solo anyway lol), and the windshield is way to short even for short riders .. i got the medium windshield thrown in on my deal though

  • Hey, i was thinking about getting this bike for my wife and I to ride on. I weigh about 230, and my wife only about 130. Is the 950 gonna have enough to get us down the freeway without running the crap out of the motor, or should i upgrade to the 1100cc Star Tourer? (Obviously new to the bike world, but looked @ this bike and instantly knew it was the one I wanted @ the dealership).

  • I have owned a VStar 950 Tourer for 2 months now, and have roughly 2k miles on it. I gotta say i'm extremely impressed. I wasn't sure the 942cc would be all that great for a 600lb bike, but man its got PLENTY of power, so don't let anyone tell you this fuel injected 942cc is sh*t. If they do, they are full of sh*t. The only gear clunk is going back into first when coming to a stop. Board scrape is same as most other bikes also. Silky smooth, and extremely well balanced. Test it yourself.

  • Did you say the bike is worth $8000? Getting this bike probably next year, and it is NOT $8000. It's actually just under $10,000.

  • You're Canadian...

  • LOL and? Is it the same price everywhere?

  • Yes, but you're not taking the differences in currency into account. Depending on the week, $8000 US dollars might be anywhere from $8600 to $9500 Canadian dollars. Exchange rates fluctuate often.

  • I didn' like the review. Like a commercial. We have to wait for a comparison review in MCN magazine.

I'm particularly interested in the gearbox performance. This company is known for clunky gearboxes -- somtimes you can hear it clunk (on sportsbikes) from half a mile.

No matter how gorgeous the bike is, If the shifting is not butter-smooth, I won't buy it.

  • The gearboxes from any japanese bike is way better than anything Harley ever build.

Japanese motorcycles is the best and most realiably in the world,- bulletproff engines.

The only realiably Harley model is the v-rod,- and its engine is made by german Porche.

The americans can simply not build a realiably and strong engine.

  • Strong engine? This shit is a 950cc, and Harley's very smallest is a 883cc. Hmmmmm.

And while I like the Vrod, I think they screwed up letting Porsche tamper with it. Valve adjustment every 10K miles? No thanks. Not to mention its fucking water cooled.

  • I wish I could agree with you. I had a bad experience with my Seca 2 . Very often, under a hard acceleration, the gearbox would refuse to upshift. Eventually, it would shift with a clunk that was comparable with hitting the engine with a sledgehammer.

But my SV-650 is a horse of a different color

  • I'm going to say that all brands are equally reliable, even if that's not the case and I would still buy Foreign. Anything American made is too expensive to justify buying it, when there are equal(and in most cases, better) cheaper alternatives. If Harley was cheaper, I would purchase them because the price difference would make up for the repair costs and still have something to be proud off, but then again...I would prefer riding over wrenching.

  • harleys start at 7k now. Baseline 833 sportster msrp is 6999. goto a 1200 for less than 10k still.

  • I just saw recently and I agree with 833 Sport Low and Iron trims...however any other bike would be too much for me. Contrary to what I said earlier I would seriously consider that particular model vs the 950 custom. It's priced just right and enough torque to keep one happy. That bike should surely be a candidate...what was the decision to price it at that? I assume the OTD price would 8.5k -9k and the Vulcan 950 Custom would be almost 10k at a dealer here in my area. <3 the Harley site, No BS.

  • Dude, suspension and looks is all you need in a motorcycle.

  • You're joking? I bet you don't even know how to change the oil in your bike. I'm a real biker who uses his bike for commuting and going on vacations on. FYI, among other important qualities in a bike is HOW EXPENSIVE IT IS TO DROP. By the time you put 100K on your bike, you will drop it many times. But if you need you bike not for riding but for looking good and calling others "BRO", then I agree with you.

  • i got one its pretty good. not a 1300 but its ight
