There was this show on Family Channel in the late 90's (I don't know if it was a show or just short series) but it always involved this guy who would make these huge outdoor images with everyday things like blankets and stuff. Then the camera would zoom overhead and show the picture. One of them was a tiger. Anybody know what I'm talking about?
ahh, i remember when i was young, i would sneak downstairs when my parents were in bed, turn on the tv to family channel, turned the volume really low, watch an episode of the spiderman cartoon, then see this and then the blackness. and after a few minutes the colour bars would appear. Good times.
@sincerelywithlove That's right. I actually got SIRE (an acronym coined by us Muppet fans for "Sudden Instant Recall Effect") from just watching this and also the 1997 sign-on. Not of the sign-on and sign-off themselves, but the Family bumpers that aired around the same time they were used.
I remember back in 2003 in the summer i would watch your big break and this would come on and after the colured bars would show up on the screen .... good times !!
UPDATE: I have been watching Family this early morning, and as of 4:42AM ADT, on July 2, 2007, Family now appears to be running a 24/7 broadcast schedule.
So it looks as if this sign-off sequence has now been consigned to the dustbin of Canadian TV history, in addition to it's sign-on counterpart. :(
Uh actually fyi, the logo's are still being used. If your awake or if you have both family channel's (East and West) you could see the logo when they make the transition from teenage programs to younger kids, so from probably Life With Derek to Katie and Orbie or whatever comes on after Life With Derek.
Hmm. Well, I sometimes watch the old Spider-Man cartoon on Family Channel and then end up watching this. (Because they start up the day with the Spider-Man show and end the day with it too.) Well, after this sign-off, they have a blank gap that either takes a long or short time and then they put up the color bars.
I liked it better when family was like this. Even though there's not much of a difference, when the 1999 makeover happened, the bumpers looked better, now it's filled with these random annoying kids who think there cool.
Haha, I remember this. xD

Family is shutting down on December 31. Their final sign-off video will be similar to that of The WB.

Why is it that Family's look greatly resembles the last look of Fox Family from around 2000-01, even though Fox didn't own Family Canada?
