Oh man wow. Unbelievable control! ,,, such an unlucky crash though after showing how cabable he really is, not a problem doing constant rotor tilt switching,, but an unlucky concrete clip on a low hover..
yes, nice... I've seen stuff like that from Lucas Riva in Ozzano (Italy) this year, he uses T-rex 600 and 700, man, that guy really touched the ground with the rotor shaft, I almost believed that his heli would rip apart for the G accelerations he was performing. just search for him on youtube, you'll be amazed! :)
I believe they have a fixed rotor speed and the stick that RC airplane pilots use for throttle is what controls pitch. They turn the rotor on with a switch.
as you raise the throttle the pitch goes up, but when in throttle up or idle up mode it changes the pitch to - when you have the throttle stick at 0, so 0 throttle is actually -11% pitch and 100 throttle is +11% pitch if that makes any sense (by 0 throttle i mean the stick all the way down and at 100 throttle i mean the throttle stick is all the way up)
It's called idle up or "stunt mode" it increases the head speed to a certain rpm and attempts to hold it there and then at neutral stick for throttle the pitch is a 0 degrees meaning you pull the stick down negative pitch which means you can fly upside down.
@Cunninghamn8r You had it right the first time mate and then everyone gave you complicated answers.
Yes Throttle and Pitch are on the same stick and both are controlled at the same time.
When the throttle stick is in center position, the rotors are both flat (0% pitch). Moving this stick up or down from center position will change the pitch and also the motor rpm.
All 'Idle Up' does is puts the motor up to full rpm and this means the throttle stick is left to control the pitch only.
@Cunninghamn8r -- Yes, in "normal mode" the stick controls both throttle and pitch. From 1% to about 50% there is no pitch applied at all (some start with a slight negative pitch, in fact). After that, you control altitude with 45% of the stick. This, of course, can be changed in the transmitter.
In "idle up" you flip a switch that holds the throttle at high RPM. You then center the throttle stick. Above 50% is positive pitch, below 50% is negative pitch.
I love how he straightens out the blades at the end, like he's getting ready to fly the friggin thing without a tail boom! ha ha. Nice flying tho, Danny, I'm envious.
usually danny and alan and or jason krause usually fly all stock machines, so they can show the performance of it with out upgrades, id say it was a stock esc that comes with the 600e and the stock 600xl motor. but i could be wrong,
... but the flying was amazing, and from a spectators point of view, the best way to end a demo is either to 1: hover it inverted .5 inches off the ground, or 2: crash the thing, which is most easily accomplished by attempting to hover .5 inches off the ground when there are wind gusts like there were that day. Either way, the crowd is cheering!
what do u mean he showed off to much?!?! your a dickhead!! its called extreme 3d flying and thats what its about. learn the skills and use than. like saying a swimmer swims to fast?? what the???
Like a swimmer? That's a lame comparison! A swimmer doesn't usually die if he swims too hard.
If you push a chopper too hard, it dies; that's what the announcer was commenting on, that the tail booms sometimes flex and get into the blades, and if you push a chopper to it's limits, it's a complex machine that can fail in many places.
It also fails if you flip it upside down and chew the blades into the pavement! :)
Sponsorship = tons of free toys, money, paid trips for two and experimental pre-release parts. He won't pay a dime and probably has two or three more backups at his pit table son.
I did this with a fixed pitch heli. Got it off the ground... threw the controls all over the place... and even crashed. My fight didn't last as long or look near as cool though.
danny is one hell of a pilot make sure to watch every single vid of him and his brother that you come across and on another not who here thinks that the camera man sounds similar to mr garrison from southpark? lol
hi every1 im heli flyer myself amazing flyin nice 1 shame about crash but still top flyer, in video clip from 1 min 57 sec's that stunt move does any1 know how i can get info on learnin on how to do that move? its amazing cheers
cheers but that still doesnt answer my question ; Does any1 know where i can info on leanring 3D tricks specially rotating 3D pivot move its the 1 in video 1min 57secs into it???? cheers
Awesome flying! And in regards to showing off....that's his job! He's a champion demoing the T-rex 600 and besides....he's one of the nicest guys in the hobby!
Danny Szabo is an amazing heli pilot. However, his brother, Alan, is a bit better. (IMO) That's the kind of stuff that happens in the sport. And YES, he is sponsored.

@Cunninghamn8r yep—throttle and main blade pitch is controlled by one stick, the left if you are flying mode 2.

I've watched the videos of him flying before, and he's amazing.... so when I saw a crash video I thought "This ought to be impressive."
Good routine I've seen on other videos (and quite good camera work following the action), but lame for a crash video =(
