  • I saw Elton, the first time, one week before this song was released. He sang this, and "Daniel," which wasn't released for another 3 or 4 months.

  • How does his costume have anything to do with him being gay. Maybe it shows that he is flamboyant, expressive, humorous, and fabulous. I've seen much more flamboyant displays from straight men. Prince is one example.

  • Elton isn't gay girlyb45

  • See you later, alligator!

  • he is so gay. but i love this song!

  • I like his clothes. Please let somebody will buy me one....

  • 9 people have no childhood.

  • cee lo green did his own tribute to elton with his grammy performance with gwenth paltrow.....both these songs are awesome!

  • My favorite part of this eps was, after every song, Elton John's outfits would get less and less flamboyant.

Meanwhile, everything the muppets were wearing kept getting more and more flamboyant.

  • He was the then Lady Gaga.

  • @TeamAS822 Elton John brought us such amazing songs as Rocket Man, and was worthy of being knighted.

Lady Gaga brought us songs about disco sticks and is barely worthy of being fap material to young teen boys.

  • @TeamAS822 Except his costumes were much cooler and not as rediculous as Gaga (seriously Elton would never wear clothes made of meat, yuck)!

  • I remember having this movie when I was younger. I used to watch it all the time.

  • I saw this the night it first aired on the Muppet Show and have never forgotten it. Practically rolled on the floor laughing!

  • I think the performers for the crocodiles were Dave, Jerry, Richard and Frank performing the big one that eats and then throws up Elton. Anyone else think so?

  • i wish i lived in the older days when he actually dressed up like that for concerts. when i seen him he just wore a long coat. and that's all he does now.

  • @RJA10001 Me too! I love him now and his calmed down looks, but I wish he would wear an outstanding costume for at least one concert!

  • Why isnt he an honourary muppet?? I think he should be :) also Julie Andrews should be one too :) thumbs up if you agree

  • He wore that on stage, and yet people were actually surprised that he was gay?

  • @bushbasher85 Well, he DID marry a woman.

  • @bushbasher85 I know right?

  • @bushbasher85 He took a leaf out of Liberace's book - make it so outrageously obvious and people won't believe it! Hiding in plain sight.... ;-p

  • Classic!

  • Who's Cee Lo Green?

  • @IntangibleNarwhal53 dude you don't know Cee Lo Green is?

  • Elton John or Cee Lo Green, who wears it better?

  • @stevray98 definetly elton john!

  • lindooo!!!

  • 8 people are afraid of crocodiles...

  • great bass guitar

  • When I saw this as a kid, I told my parents I wanted to be Elton John when I grew up. I'm a girl, so...well, I remember my dad laughing really hard.

  • in these days Elton looked more like a muppet than the whole mayhem ;)

  • But...those are alligators!

  • Thumbs up if you took a look at Elton John and thought "who's the Muppet in this scene?"

  • I found my own way here but can someone send me to whatever Cee Lo did to send you all here, I want to know what your all talking about.

  • I found my way here, without the help of Cee Lo Green! :)

  • Este güey es una verga!!! Uff I love him!

  • classic TV moment right here :D

  • God, I love the classics, and Im 12!

    p.s. the Muppets ROCK!

  • @Beybladefan25 You're automatically my favorite 12 year old

  • @Beybladefan25 thats me right there! 12 and lovin the classics!

  • 2:51 - BOYED!

  • (':

  • Tell me he is not on something and I will call you a liar!!!!!!!

  • @MrBeavisBeavis its not drugs he's high on theatricality

  • @MrBeavisBeavis He was just teh Lady gaga of back in the day

  • @AbsolFox No way. He had musical talent he DIDN'T waste on GIMMICKS and NONSENSE LYRICS.

  • @tallaussiebloke I mean in the theatrical sense. I have much more respect for a man like this than Lady Gaga.

  • iwantolistentothisallday

  • When I first heard the original recording of this song, I thought the laaaaaa la la la la laaaaa part was sung by Animal from Muppet Babies.

  • WHOA WHO! OH YEAH BABY! ROCK IT Mr. John! ROCK IT!

  • i remember seeing this wen i was 5 lol holy shit

  • He totally stole my bejewled swim cap! Bitch

  • When I was in second grade my music teacher played this song to us. Yesterday i went to sleep and today I woke up with the melody in my head. Just like that out of nowhere i fell in love with it again. So many memories.

  • I want that outfit....

  • 2 Icons of The 70s in one 3 min sketch.. they dont make them like this anymore

  • laaaaaa la la la la laaaa...

  • I was sooo mad when cee lo copied this performance I mean why can't he get his own ideas????

  • Great rendition of a kick-ass song....it's actually fun to hear it slowed down a bit, but I can see how some would miss that incredible energy (speed-wise) of the original version.

  • where did he get this outfit from? i wanna know the name of the shop. that would become my new home :) anyway, a great performance

  • TOO slow

  • it would be pretty cool to see the muppets and bowie UP THE IRONS FROM LOUISIANA

  • LOVE ITT

  • I like the lyrics to the lalalala part but I don't like it when he says lalalala

  • Thumbs up if your love of the oldies brought you here! And double thumbs up if you liked the feathers!

  • I saw this live... you can't beat it... ROCK IT!

  • <3 Elton.... he does kinda look like a muppet with all those feathers tho

  • 1:21 lol, wasn't expecting everyone to join in, don't know why cuz i should have somewhat expected it.

  • Elton John rocks.

    So do the muppets.

  • Tempo is too slow

  • @Shurikenthrower1

he doesn't have to do it the same way every time. that would be boring.

  • hilarious and cute at the same time !!! Elton love your sense of humor !

  • I can never hear this song without doing the crocodiles' singing part. lol

  • I'd love to turn up to work in Elton's outfit ! lol!

  • Actually, no... wasn't Cee Lo... it was the crocodile pose I did in yoga tonight. Damned song has been stuck in my head all night.

  • Actually, no... wasn't Cee Lo... it was the crocodile pose I did in yoga tonight. Damned song has been stuck in my head all night.

  • sent here by cee-lo green on jimmy fallon on monday

  • Susie would have been embarrassed holding hands with him dressed like that!

  • umm. I assume you have not seen the full episode,

Backstage Kermit and Sam the Eagle are talking,

Kermit goes on to explain how musicians have always been fancy dressers. Sam refuses to believe Mozart would wear such things as wigs, high heels, and silk stockings and the two place a bet. Scooter settles the bet with a picture of Mozart Elton John just gave him.

'KERMIT: Sam, Elton John is a very important musician.

SAM: Then why does he dress like a stolen car?'

  • me recuerda mi niñes

  • 'He dresses like a of stolen car.'

Although years after watching this I still haven't figured that line out.

  • @casusbelli15 simple...that line doesn't exist lol....

  • Comment removed

  • @casusbelli15 very visible/obvious?

  • EJ Rocks!

  • i watched this when i was a kid!! it so nice to see it again!!

  • Okay...I've replayed this too many times today lol. ANd thanks for rating my comment highest, its true. Elton is a true artist, we don't have a lot of those now days.

  • Never gets old! Gotta Love Elton

  • of course he is wearing feathers haha xp

  • i like when he say augh! at 2:13

  • this is one of my favorite songs of all time im more into the old songs than the new song. MY FAVORITE VERSION OF IT

  • Only Elton John could pull of dressing like a stolen car. :P

  • I remember this. My kids were very young...under 4. They had heard this song on the radio and they were so excited to see it on the Muppets! They were dancing and giggling...it was a perfect episode for our family at that time. Thank you so much. I am going to email it to my grandson...he knows the song also. I think it will bring second generation smiles!

  • I was actually looking for the episode with KISS but I cant find it.Thank's to Gene Simmons I'm sure. But I came across this one instead.I remember the day I saw it premier as a kid. We'd just returned from an airshow, seeing the Blue Angels. Thanks for the upload. It brought back some great memories.

  • they made Elton John look like a joke! EVIL PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!

  • @MegaBubblePopper I think I read that he showed up to the set dressed like that.

  • It's fair to say that the performances of quite a few of the guest stars on The Muppet Show are among their all time classic performances.

  • Muito bom, isso sim.

  • I can watch this over and over again and not get bored :D

  • Thumbs up if Know Your Meme brought you here.

  • But Elton john was a living homage to Liberace

  • LOL, I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who thought that Cee-Lo's performance was an homage to this number :)

  • a nice revisit after being reminded by cee-lo. very admirable tribute to a legend. cee-lo's admiration is very... well, admirable :D

  • Now it makes sense Cee Lo!!!!

  • I was still young when this was originally aired. And yet I knew that Elton was a homo. Not that it matters but still...........................

  • @ruggbutt

Well, it's kinda obvious. He's very flamboyantly so. Not that I care or anything, but it's pretty obvious that he is.

  • so funny to think he was more than likely coked up off his nut whilst doing this.

  • God Bless you Cee Lo Green!!!

As soon as my wife showed me Cee Lo's gig, I said "Elton John! 1977! Muppet Show!" What a tribute to Elton, even the rockets in the back that said "Cee Lo".

    Rocket Man !

  • Lol... when I saw Cee Lo dressed like that on the Grammy awards I was jumped up and shouted "crocodile rock!"

  • @Ramonajunie3 When i saw cee-lo green dressed like this i said

"i see you flying round town with the chick i love, and i'm like, PLUCK YOU"

  • Nah i give Cee Lo Mad props. I love the way music is going if he gives elton that much respect. Very cool, the second i saw him preform im like damn elton

  • But Elton John totally isn't gay.

  • What was it Bob Dylan said about new music living off the scraps of the 60's?

  • @laaxe Of course Bob Dylan would say that. He's been living off the scraps of his 60's success for the last 40 years.

  • @PCrePs Dylan actually helped shape the 60's, and is entitled to continue what he did. Since the 60's, nothing new has really been generated. There were even rambling songs without melodies, which resemble rap. Though you had isolated political/angry artist 80 years ago, like Woody Guthrie, but none who made it as marketable, as did the artists of the 50's & 60's. Pretty much everything over the last 40 years has been copycat trash. Leaving today's stars no choice other than feathers & poses.

  • @laaxe OK, OK. We're get off of your lawn.

  • @rickrussell Jeeze, I did sound a little rigid, bitter, and opinionated, didn't I? Ha! Just a 54 Y/o musician who didn't wear the right feathers! My apologies for the rant. I'm pretty confident that w/ the social turmoil of these days, something really good is coming from music within the next decade.

Enjoy the lawn! In the bigger picture, we're all renters.

  • Yup, thanks Cee Lo

  • Thumbs up if Cee Lo Green brought you here.

( I hope he didn't. This song is bad ass )

  • @SeventhSandwich i admit it did but i love the shit out of this song anyway lol

  • @SeventhSandwich

    My childhood sent me here.

    This song IS bad ass!

    it fulfilled his childhood ambitions

'dont eat the guest star at the beginning of the show"

  • Wow! I remember watching this on the telly as wee one. God, I'm so old. Lol What's the big deal about Elton's sexuality?? Who cares. His music is still timeless. Luv the new album w/ Leon Russell. Thanks for posting this.

  • @mwantero Only a fellow gay could say that. Try to understand what people are saying.

  • @AbuAvital Actually AbuAvital, I have a very clear perception of what certain people are saying. & your right. I am gay. My previous comment stated 2 months ago pretty much summed up what certain others (possibly including yourself) would constantly bring to the fore in regards to Sir Elton John's personal life. Perhaps YOU should read my previous comment more closely? If you have any other questions, I'm on Twitter under the moniker "Mickflipp". Have a fabulous day!

  • @mwantero same thing with freddie mercury

  • Big deal if he's gay, he is amazing!

  • Ok! He's GAY.... but why does he trick us by singing so many songs about women?

  • Comment removed

  • I'm not that big of a fan of Elton John, but I have to say I love the shower cap he's wearing.

  • There is no such thing as being gay or being a bad thing in the muppets

  • 3 people evidently don't know how to have a good time.

  • Сердючка?

  • Why are people watching this? I mean, really...why? Does it have something to do with the fact that you are all just characters in my dream?

    lucid the novel . com

  • i so want that outfit its wicked

  • listing to the music you morons

  • its albout his music who cares about his sexuality

  • There is gay and theres dressed up like a showgirl on a puppet show gay.

  • @sirhcskoorb

If I could have been on the muppets show I wouldn't mind dressing up like a peacock either.

IT'S THE MUPPETS MAN. THE MUPPETS. Who cares about 'gay'.

  • Flower!-er-feather!--er--feather-flower power! Elton's funny.

  • what the heck is he wearing?

  • elton john and the muppets what else do u need......

  • Elton John is a muppet!!!!

  • This song makes me yearn for the earlier years.

  • I heard this song recently again after a few years and suddenly i had a weird feeling of happiness and i had a flashback right into my childhood. And bam i searched for it on youtube and found the muppet version. Oh the sweet nostalgia.

  • it looks like elton john is ALL WET!

  • Comment removed
