how would you go about say, making a tv show or movie into an MKV file? 99% of the time i need subtitles on, and i know MKV is one of the major formats that allows subtitles into the filebase.

how would i do that?

@Metroidhunter13 dvd fab allows you to pull the subtitles to either a file or to hard copy it onto the video its self. When you select the right video to copy and then hit next you will see a button that says configure select that and you'll see the option for write sub scripture to file or to video. then hit start.

2 Things:

#2 The House DVDs are already split apart by episode. If you had ripped it correctly to begin with you wouldn't have had to split them. On House, typically the individual episodes are titles 01-04 and title 00 is the combined.

@montgal52 You have to split the episodes already in dvddecrypter. go to Mode and switch to IFO. Then you will see each episodes on the right. Once you got them on your computer you can add them to AUTOGK

@uut0 We are going to need your full system specs, because for blu ray videos, only powerful systems will be able to rip and encode it. A normal office PC most people have won't be able to encode the video without shitting on itself

Format Factory will do the same thing for most dvd's and it only takes 1 step and if you need it in iso form it can give it to you like that. :D

You could also use AnyDVD + Handbrake.. saves the time of ripping all the dvds with dvdfab.. since AnyDVD runs in the Background.. Downside Anydvd isnt free..

it took me weeks of failing to get it just as you said, only if you did this before...but what i do is just rip the dvd, instead of coping, so its quicker, and you dont have to code it twice, once with dvdfab, and the other with handbrake...i feel mkv is better, 2 pass encoding with turbo first pass, and an average bitrate of 1800

Or us slysoft's AnydvdHD to break the encryption, instead of making a backup of each disk you can use handbrake to access the disks directly and continue as stated in the video. Plus you don't have to wait for the dvd to rip just for the episodes.

Also when you are done you can use a program called the renamer to rename your episode super fast!

i wish this would work every time. but it won't because handbrake corrupts files at random. and sometimes won't even include audio in the transcode. i have been trying to get my backed up dvd box set. from .vob to mp4. and i get random error's when i know for a fact my dvd's files are fine.do you know of any other free tool that can do this other than handbrake?
