Hah, calm down mate. She JAMMED with Santana at nineteen, I'm not denying that she's a great and I did mention that. What I'm saying is that I dislike how she's instantaniously the best guitarist in the world because she has a set of breasts.

While she is real cool and I'm a big fan, a lot of people like her for the wrong reasons. And you can't deny that Vai touring and recording with Zappa at 19/20 is a bigger achievement than having a jam with Santana.

thats the thing aobut Ori..she has every style, and no one has ever had that before...she is awesome at everything and not just one or two things....thats what makes her stand out above the rest...as far as van halen goes, i met him twice in person and he was a total jerkoff bigtime, which made me dislike all aobut him right away, so hi sguitar playing was all he had and its one kind he feautred, while Ori can do it all and seems quite humble and kind...hopefuylly she'll stay that way...

I'm sick of people saying commercial is defined by those above them. A successful artist will redefine what is commercial by being good and original. Commercial does not mean schlocky, boring, and hackneyed. It means recorded in an appealing enough way, good songs, well performed, that's about it. People that douche up their sound thinking they are 'commercial' are not artists, they're pussies, and the public can tell the difference.

Its the x factor. or its a novelty. it could be a trend in popular culture that isn't even musical that decides what music is popular! But as for them good songs, that's debatable. Palatable to the target audience is more of the correct term.

The marketing strategy for her at this point may suck, but its smart. The idea obviously is just to get her name out there, and she can develop and seek out her true audience on her own later. Her singing and guitar playing are damn good, but her songwriting and performing are mediocre as of right now. She'll get better for sure. Its pretty tough being that she just got thrust into all this so quickly and you can tell she's shy as hell.

I agree with most of that however the pop songs may not even be her choice. A lot of the time when artists get signed to a record deal especially women they are made to perform the type of mainstream music that is sure to get them money. Also it's a lot harder for women to be taken seriously performing rock because its a male dominated genre. I feel as if starting off pop is really the only way to make her name. And you'd be surprised at how many performers are very shy. =]

I was thinking it has a lot to do with perspective; Male rock music is written way different than female rock. Males typically take on grittier, more angry and destructive mindset and women have a habit of always writing about relationships. Female backing musicians (drums, guitar etc) also have a habit of being a little too limp, not hitting hard enough, soloing with conviction etc. They don't 'dig in'. Of course there are exceptions, but very few make it to a place of popularity, and it sucks.
