I counted the number of policemen roughly, then watched the video stop start, using zoom and image dithering. During which counting the number of black officers give+taking some that I couldn't work out their race. Thats where I came up with the number which is pretty accurate.

I saw this on Carte Blanche. As a CPF member in with my local police (in Gauteng).I was horrified at the manner this raid was conducted. I'm sure there was reason for such a raid . I just think that the SAPS realy cocked it up. Pitty they don't put as much effort in clamping down on all crime as displayed her . As for the other responses posted were did race com in to this ?

I ASSURE you this was about power and not race - I saw several officers of different colours treating everyone in the clubs in exactly the same way, regardless of skin tone.
I truly understand an event such as this can cause tempers to fly, but it should galvanize the youth together across colour lines to stand up against abuse like this. Let me reiterate...it is about abuse of power not racism.

I counted the number of policemen roughly, then watched the video stop start, using zoom and image dithering. During which counting the number of black officers give+taking some that I couldn't work out their race. Thats where I came up with the number which is pretty accurate.

Mostly white officers? Are you colour blind? I've watched this video about 10 times with a critical eye. They are 80% black officers. Our police force is 80% black if not more black. 3 clubs were raided which are majority white students. No other club was raided that night. This incident had EVERYTHING to do with race, anyone with half a brain in Stellenbosch knows that those pubs have a largely white clientele. If you want to execute drug busts fine, go ahead, but not with guns blazing and full riot gear where you KNOW the patrons will co-operate. Might not be a race issue at all, but the SA police chief is under investigation for corruption, the possible future president wants his machine gun, and all the white journos have been kicked out of a recent seminar. I do think that SA is going the Zim way, the opinion of a lot of our European publications certainly seems to head off in that direction. apparently it was much worse next door at mystic. and the known north african drug dealer in mystic just walked out with a smile after the raid.
aparently only girls were 'searched' (underwear and privates) in mystic and dudes were beaten badly.
this is shameful behaviour, and it calls for action. who will protect us against the police? this is not supposed to be a police state like the US or China.
