  • What can you do with midi program change channels ?

  • He sounds like the South Park version of Al Gore

  • hey does anyone know if you can set the pads by intruments? like have each pad asigned to a different instrument?

  • This is an unbelievably poor demo.

  • Can I load my own samples into this? Please let me know.

  • @julianrumney its pretty damn obvious cos his talking about it being a midi controller pretty much gives it away but ill assume u dont know about this kinda stuff and plus u said please so i just cant leave you hanging like this .the answer is in short no u cant directly load samples onto the mpd and you would need need software with samples on them and connect the mpd via midi to trigger the samples, the mpd is only a controller device only.

  • I need help please..my mpd24 is not working, the screen on the mpd24 say NO FIRMWARE....anyone can help me to fix this problem.

    thanks

  • The Machine is DOPE!

Check the channel. My dude Anvil Hands is a beast on this thing

  • i would like seeing him making a beat :D

instead of always repeating "no other product on the market has this"

    kidding, nice toy though...

  • Can i set it up to use it with Serato?

  • i cant get any sound out of it how do you use this thing i have an apple computer am i doing something wrong???? please help!!!

  • you need software dude

  • like a program???

    what do you recommend??

  • @SordidClot dude i cant believe you bought this without knowing what it does i see that you posted this 1 year ago so i hope youve either sold it or learnt how it use it

  • @SordidClot you have to have software. it is just a midi controller, it sends information to a computer which then makes sound. It is like sheet music. You give the sheet music (the mpd) to a musician (a computer or synth) and the musician makes the actual sound

  • just ordered one of these

  • Are you able to controll when a beat is going to start? or when the lead is going to start? so you can use it to play live, only with this midi and a midi keyboard? :P

  • haah! i got mine for 150!

  • so it comes with drum sounds and stuff yeah?

  • no it doesnt come with drum sounds

  • Why would it? XD

  • Just picked it up! Maybe used it once. I like it so far but I have a lot to learn about it! I don't even know how to sample on it yet lol

  • You know, with a company like AKAI, they could at least get someone that can demo the mpd24, not just point and read from the manual. Oh well, it's not like he's the product manager...wait

  • he sounds like hes reading from manual because his team wrote the damn thing.

  • Looks like I am going to add one to my setup.

  • i actually use this on garageband and it's pretty good!

  • im gettin one of these thursday. i can't wait.

  • Oddly enough I am too on Thursday ...

  • I just ordered one off of Ebay, Im getting this one first before I get the 32...I hope I can set this bitch up once I get it

  • I think the Korg PadKontrol is better, in my opinion. :)

  • mine just came in today. talk about a pain in the ass! kinda cool, once I got it kinda working after about three hours of research/downloads. the program it came with didn't work, so I had to download FLS. good luck. if anyone has some tips lemme know =P

  • just ordered mine off of ebay for $149.00 and free ship. cannot fuckin wait till i get it. now if just gotta concentrate on getting a computer of my own, ha.

  • i want an mpd soo bad lol...wish i had the ca$h

  • Just bought one of these today to use with FL Studio. Can't wait til it gets here! FYI - I found one brand new on eBay for $179, at a DJ eBay store.

  • how did it work out for you? do you like it? does it feel good? is it easy to use with FL studio?

  • yes it is, check out jehfree562, he uses one with fl all the time and shows you how to do stuff

  • can i run this on music maker 14?

  • what are the biggest specific differences between this and an mpc ?

  • well the biggest differences between the mpc and the mpd24 are the mpc as u know has note repeat and tempo tap where as the mpd24 does not and the mpc has its own sound and the mpd24 has no sound on it because it's a midi controller (mmc) so it controls software cubase, reason, ableton whatever. the only way to get sound out of it is by using it with any one of those programs.

  • from a man that sounds like he's never used one XD

  • lol @ "custom" LCD....which you can't see

  • Anyone know how well this works with Sonar 7 ?, or if it would be better to use Cubase then import to Sonar? I have one coming in the mail, and if anyone has any experience with this unit and these programs your input would be appreciated!

  • can u run this thing on garagageband?

  • yes.

  • "Price will be 2... errr announced on april 1st"

    lmfao

  • LOL

  • Lmao. I was gonna point that out. I'm pretty sure somebody was scolding him in the background not to tell the price.

  • how do the pads feel are the softer than the mpd 16?

  • Can i get free progams for this thing or do i got to spend a shit load of money for the programs?

  • im knew to all this kinda of stuff

if i bought this would i have to hook it up to my computer to use

or could i play it live?

  • Its a MIDI Controller. So you need to connect it to a computer.

Of course you could play it live. from a computer.

  • or you could just use it to fake a live set just like Justice has been caught doing recently! busted!

  • there's other pictures now where you seem him plug it back in, and have you seen the expression on his face? he doesn't know what's going on lol

  • myself an mpd 24 yesterday and can't wait to get around to mucking with it tonight. I'll hook it up to cubase / halion. Quite curious about hooking up the knobs, too, which might get tricky ;)

  • JUST GOT ME AN MPD32!! updated my PadKontrol :D

  • How do you like the MPD over the padKontrol?

  • MUCH better :D!!!!

  • What's the main diff.? just the knobs? All im really lookin for is roll (note repeat) really. I not really concernd' wit knobs 2 much. But how do the banks feature work on the MPD? Do you assign samples threw the AKAI software, or do you do that threw PROtools, Logic, Reason?

  • cant wait to get mine

  • would the AKAI MPD24 work with music maker 12?

  • lol no

  • just got one for $186.. check ebay.

  • i just received one for my birthday, but i dont even know what to do with it, i mean im a gutar player and the person gave it to me thinking that it might be useful for me but the truth is that i dont even know what it is

  • ill buy it off of you

  • one man band.........use it for your drums or whatever else you need

  • how do you sample

  • You use your computer to load, crop, and edit your samples that you put on the pads. The MPD just triggers the sounds through your computer software. It's simply a midi controller.

  • is it software comes together with it or have to buy it extra, or what is the name of the software

  • i just got mine for $160 brand new Black Friday!!

  • can you use this w/o a computer?

  • no there are no sounds

  • Yeah, you can use it with any device that can receive a midi input.

  • is it possible to record loops from a physical synthesizer(e.g.microKORG) to mpd24's?

  • i think you can only do it with a computer connected

  • I've got question to all users of this padkontrol and/or akai mpd24. I will buy one of this but I'm still undecided which one to choose? If someone can give me good advice and point out advantages or disadvantages of those two pad controlers.

please let me know your opinion. thanks

(You can leave me private message)

  • please please to for the Akai MPD24.

    MUCH better than the padkontrol.

    trust me:)

  • how much is the MPD24????

  • just bought one for 199

  • it really doesn't hurt to google stuff like that...

    190$

  • Thats right. but ive seen so many prices dat I dont even know... argh.

  • mabey if you listen to what he says, he gives you the price at the end...

  • sigh ok, ok my bad, damn.

  • =] i want one now

  • 199

  • check out these hot tracks myspace(dot)com/elsewherebeats

  • zzzzzzzzzzz...boring bloke doesn't do this justice. sick machine.

  • since when did the myth busters guys make beats?

  • Digg+

  • lmao

  • oh shit that does look like him...hahahah

  • poooor demonstration!

  • If you use reason 3 and Battery 3 you will not be dissapointed. Comes with a lite version of BDF but don't really use it. Pads can be easily tuned to suit depends on how you like to tap your beats out.

There's two functions that allow this, Pad Sensitivity and Velocity curve, once you've got it have a play around with them to find the settings that suit your tapping style. Note repeat is not included but you can always recreate it with your softsampler, Get battery3

    Enjoy it.

  • Oh shit, it's Renetto!

  • Hah that's what i said.

  • how much and wer do i get 1 sum 1 send me 1

  • ~200€ equals around 240 US$ not that expensive, just ask your local hardware dealer or maybe order one at e.g. thomann(dot)de(/)gb(/)akai_mpd_24(.)htm remove brackets

  • 200 Euros = 274.38 U.S. dollars

  • i want 1

  • renetto! oh, nvm...

  • $1.99

  • huh...2 bucks..j/k...you mean $200.00

  • I think he meant $199...

  • how much is it?

  • I just did a quick google and it looks ilke ~$200 is a normal price. Kind of impressive as I was expecting much more for some reason.

  • Yeah $200 is cheap, I was expecting nearer $1000. But I wonder if the $200 includes software

  • yea it comes wit the driver but its gotta be connected to the computer to make it work unlike the mpcs

  • oooh I have FL6, Cubase SX3, Reason 3.04. All three of these work eh?

  • yes

  • Two faults I found with this unit so far are

    1. It goes coocoo in FL Studio 7 works alright for a couple mins then starts playing random notes, maybe ma system ain't configured right I don't know.

    2. Works perfect in Reason but always tunes bank 5 in redrum to the left so I always have to check before hitting rec. Otherwise Reason 3 and MPD24 is a match made in heaven. Works good with NI Battery 3 as well for MPC style production.

  • i just got mine 2 days ago.was a bit dissapointed the unit seems solid and all and bad ass design but akai aint all that like every1 sweats it..i mean i personaly think that the axiom from m-audio has way better pads...u can tap on them all around and still get a response and this mpd24 is not as sensitive as this salesman says it is if u notice he struggles a bit to get a response when he tap it its u have to hit the pads right in the middle.but w.e still a good unit but not like wow!

  • Have you tried to change the pad sensitivity and the pad curve?

  • how do i do that man?

  • how do i do that man? i will appreciate the help

  • To change Padcurve follow same procedure but you going to page 5 set the curve to A using the same knob coz A is the weakest while D is the hardest meaning you'd have to hit em really hard, press (>) to go to save page push knob down to save and hit the presets button to come out of settings. And that's that the slightest touch willgive u maximum velocity.

  • To change PadSens,Global mode, scroll to PadSens Page using (>)increase value to 16 using knob above <> buttons, and save

  • Looks like my first reply did not post

  • i cant wait to get mine

  • I gave my mpd16 away.I paid $299 when it first came out and barely used it.Now I got the axiom board

  • akai can suck my balls, korg does it best.

  • ive got one, use it with ableton!

  • got the MPD24 the other day, and im sooo disappointed, despite what this guy says the 360 knobs are not incremental/decremental, making them worse then non 360 knobs because actually have no idea where the parameters will jump to...

I could go on but im vex (and i lost the original comment i wrote, and i went over 500 characters), i've been waiting for the MPD24 since june, wtf have Akai been doing all this time, its like they forgot to put in functions that should be just standard.

  • i'm going to buy this crazy shit... i guess it's the best drumpad out there... nothing can beat that dope shit ^^

  • Looks like a cool machine, but this guy's a horrible salesman.

  • damn it... i just bought the mpd16 back in january when it was $150. F*CK!!!!

  • I liked the Trigger Finger better then the mpd16, but the 24 looks pretty dope.

  • I believe the Akai MPD24 is gonna be the best drumpad ever! Even better than the new Korg Padkontrol or the M-Audio Trigger Finger.

It seems it's already available in France, great!

And hell yeah! I'm gonna buy this for sure!

  • u kno what, ive been debatin which one to get was hooked on the padkontrol and triggerfinger (because of mouseless juggle map for ableton) but this could use that same map(more than enough faders and knobs) plus i know how to use the mapping on this (very similar to mpc, am an owner) so this might be my new piece.

great salesman, until he messed up on the price part, still sold to me.

  • This looks crazy! It's like an MPC for a computer! I just want to know if this will let you do the "note repeat" function MPC's are famous for. You know, every time you hold down a pad, it repeats the same note. MPC users know what i'm talking about.

  • It's just a MIDI controller...it depends what you hook it up to.
