Well because they wern't, they never had a childhood together it, it was made up for the film- but there was a character in Logans childhood similar to Victor called Dog, but they're not the same person. They did work together in Weapon X for Striker, and he probably did reconize him, but just didn't mention it ( he does at one point seem to like his Dog Tags)

Liev Schreiber played this role to the T. Sabretooth has the same abilities as Wolverine, except the adamantium factor. But of course the comics are different from the movies. But he had predatory urges for killing and bloodlust. Super strength and speed. Hence the name, Sabretooth.
